Out of the three (Xeno, TLS, and Pandora's) I'm mostly excited for TLS. It just seems more interesting than Xenoblade. Pandora's Tower as well, and that better get a USA release.

In xenoblade the characters live on gods. What is more interesting than that. I am getting both but if I could only get on that would be xenoblade.

Xenoblade is a lot better, TLS isn't so different in structure from FFXIII. You have a town hub and better characters, but still just mission after mission with no point returning to old areas for the most part.

The auto-attack in TLS is lame, and boss fights are always either easy as hell or tedious, and horribly drawn out. Not much is worse than a game that is easy having long fights. I played like 13 hours or something, not so motivated to keep going. Xenoblade I was hooked until the end of the 80ish hours I put into it. Xenoblade has a lot of tedious side-quests, but if you stop doing them if you're not having fun, can still get through the game well enough. Much better combat system in Xenoblade too, some of the characters play quite differently and it's fun to mix up who you use.

Xenoblade has some cool twists too, some are a bit silly, but others are pretty sweet. TLS is essentially generic fantasy story if I've ever seen one.

I'm getting both. I preordered Xenoblade already and can't wait to play it.

You better have time set aside for those two games, it gets hectic.

One is release in April, the other in the summer. I haven't bought any new games this year except Xenoblade. I'll have plenty of time.

Good cause you will need it lol.

I ordered Xenoblade the other day but I'm not sure about TLS yet. Most people say Xenoblade is the better game, but I like the sound of the group of mercenaries story, and have heard the characters and story are quite good so I'll probably pick it up later.

[QUOTE="illmatic87"]

Basedgod says that Xenoblade is better, by a longshot.

Though, the basedgod admits that he is only a few hours into The Last Story. While Xenoblade has a 2nd half that doesnt carry the same impact as the first, the basedgod is keen to see how The Last Story unfolds in front of the basedgods eyes.

Edit: oh um, the basedgod apologises to the TC in that he didnt really read the thread properly. I already own both games thanks to the generousity and brevity of Australias PAL localization. The basedgod apologises in advance if I killed your hype for the Last Story.

Twin-Blade

Who is basegod? Please don't tell me you're talking in the third person.

basedgod is a rapper by the name of lil b

and i choose both

Actually, I've heard that you can go back to areas that you've been to before in TLS. Granted, the world isn't as huge as Xenoblade's and there's greater emphasis on the story VS exploration, but, whatever local areas you can get to, you're allowed to go back and forth as you please. Also, Xenoblade has auto attack too...so I'm not sure why TLS is being slammed for it. As well, you have the option to turn the auto attack off in TLS and to use the manual mode while I've heard that it's not an option in Xenoblade. Yes, apparently, TLS does contain a bit more cliche than Xenoblade but there's cliche done well and cliche done horribly. I've heard TLS is the previous and not the latter, which means the story is still quite enjoyable. Also, from what I've been hearing, the game's characters are one of its strongest points, aside from the battle system, and are supposed to be quite likable. If you're stuck on Xenoblade, TLS will not appeal to you because the two games are pretty much polar opposites. However, if you can get off your Xenoblade high, it's supposed to be a good game in its own right.

With that said, I'll be picking up Xenoblade too, however, I'm looking forward to TLS most. I prefer games with a little more emphasis on narrative and characters.

I've played both and here's my thought:

Last Story is one of my favorite jrpgs this generation. Perhaps not so surprising if we consider who made the music, but the music is fantastic. The graphic is pretty as well. But what I liked most about this game was the story which I really liked. It's just overall a really good game. A bit too easy though. Completely superior to Xenoblade.

As for Xenoblade, this ends up as rather overrated by people. Are there big zones with very very many quests? Yes but that's not always a good thing. There are really really many quests but unlike the quests from Last Story and older rpgs, these are mostly pure grind quests. Heck, they're even worse than themepark mmmorpg quests (WoW example). Many many quests are pretty much like "Hey I'm afraid of mice, go kill five Giant Mouse for me will ya?" or "I'm stocking up for the cold winter, I sure could need a few coconuts, can you help out?" and then you go out, and kill mice, and run around either farming items from monsters or running around picking up orbs that may or may not contain the item you are currently looking for.

And you know what's worse? Even though the quests are so simple and boring, they've tried to disguise it by incorporating it in a dialogue which is fine if it weren't for the fact that this dialogue is repeated over and over and over and over again. It may look cool the first hours but then you'll start to notice, haven't I heard "you're looking pretty smug there, haha" before? A few hours later you'll think "WHY DO I HAVE TO PRESS THREE-FOUR EXTRA BUTTONS IN THE BEGINNING AND THE END OF A QUEST SO DAMN OFTEN JUST TO FRIGGIN' GO THROUGH THE SAME CONVERSATION???? WE GET IT, THE GUY LOOKS SMUG, SHUT THE **** UP PLEASE AND GIVE ME THE REWARD ALREADY.".

Main character being too generic, current gen jrpg cheesy stuff, combat somehow feels rather mmorpg-ish...

I mean, it's not a bad game but I found several things bugging me and it bugs me out even more when people apparently loves the things I irrititate about.
