Xperia Play is the best handheld, 3DS is a product of the past

So i have Xperia Play for two weeks and its the best handheld i have ever owned. Seriously the problem with handhelds is that they still work like consoles by being a portable device. Xperia Play is like a PC. It doesnt require any slots like handhelds its full based on downloadble media and it works like a pc. You can upgrade the sd card to 32 gb and that doesnt cost much just 50€. Android is like windows now while 3DS is like a console. Its a closed system without any harddrive. For every game you need to change the sd card all the time and every game needs to be put it in a plastic case or something and you have to take them with you + your mobile phone which needs to be charged too.

This concept doesnt fit in our time guys, it only works in kindergarden where kids trade their nintendo sd cards, sd cards let me show them. Xperia Play is the future it works like a handheld but has a free operating system. The only handheld i see hope is ngp since its really gonna be strong and the psn that is up allready has downloadble games too. Nintendo really is missing such a service they cant rely on sd cards in plastic boxes. Also while i am writing this i read gadafis second youngest son is killed by nato man thats uncool :(

I disagre. The Xperia play doesn't hold a torch compared to the PSP, DS, and 3DS. Handheld system>>>>>>>mobile phone gaming

Xperia Play is like a PC i can play emulators on it, do you know how awesome it is to play advance wars 2 on my phone? I can play any pokemon game i want, pokemon let me show them. Or castlevania x from snes.

And what would these be then?! Its not any more impressive than any other multi-media device/ phone.

Current Xperia play is not that great, but I can see similar devices dominating handhelds in the next few years as.

1. They are constantly getting faster. Normal handhelds last 4-6 years before the next one. With smart phones in 2 years (post contract) you can get a phone 4X as powerful as your last.

2. They are always with you, being they are your phone.

3. Contracts. Why is this good, well it allows you to get a 600$ device for a fraction of that price with a contract(up front). Handhelds have you pay all up front, and can't charge as much (and put as much in).

For ,designated mobile gaming to take over we need 3 things.

1: a good OS, thanks to Android, this is already solved.

2. Good controls. Xperia play has shown how this can be achieved. 2-3 years of refining and this will be a check.

3. Games specifically made for these devices. Currently only ports exist. Their needs to be a market place for these specific devices. And this part is the deciding factor. If developers take this seriously the market for designated game phones could explode and even surpass the DS level of popularity.

Um yeah if you don't also own the game AND the system you need to play it, it's considered pirating the game. Also discussing emulators/ROMs in SW is against the rules.oldkingallant

Actually, I emailed Ninty about this once. Apparently when you buy a game, you only purchase the license to *that* copy of the game.

If you somehow copy the game (dump the rom) or acquire an illegally copied version, you are still considered pirating and liable for prosecution.

Also while i am writing this i read gadafis second youngest son is killed by nato man thats uncool :(

I'm thinking about replacing my iPhone 3GS with a Xperia Play, but reviewers say it isn't worth it, especially with the dark display :S

I will wait for the Xperia Play 2 or, I will wait and see if the S2 tablet has phone functionality.

The NGP will always have top purchasing priority however, these devices are pretty unique.

I suppose if you're looking for something that can play games but also want a phone then you can settle for an Xperia or iPhone, but if your primary interest is playing games then a dedicated handheld gaming console is superior in every respect.

Sounds more like your making excuses than anything. From personal preference i can buy a £10 phone and a 3DS and 2nd hand PSP for the same price as that would cost on 24 month contract. Get better devices at their designated desgin.
