I would say it has to do with the lack of power on the switch, and (history repeating itself) the carts for switch.
I wouldn't blame a company for not wanting to invest in downsizing and development on cartridges when the last investment didn't make money.
Good, its not like switch owners gonna support the game anyway.
lol yakuza 6 sold 500K WW according to vgchartz

Last month, it was revealed that Yakuza 6: The Song of Life had been the most successful Yakuza title when it came to Western releases. The game had earned a top-20 spot on the list of best-selling games for the month of May

That is in japan with Wii U, take note wii u actually selling ok as home console in japan at pace as ps3 then.
Nintedo fans dont buy mature games, even wolfenstein 2 bombed.

You're using niche games though that don't sell that much in general because no one fucking likes those games. How come when a console doesn't sell that much, we say that it's a shitty console that no one wants to buy? Yet when a game doesn't sell that much, we blame Nintendo fans? The PS4 has an install base of 80 million, and Yakuza can't even crack a million. The general popular does not want that game, yet people blame Switch owners. "I need a console with at least 80 million units sold to sell at least a million! That's why the Wii U fails!" -said by shitty developers. Of course it is a failure that the Wii U didn't even sell 15 million units, but if you need a huge install base to sell at least a million copies as a decent budget game, then your game fails. You just need to pack up your bags and stop now because people don't want your game.
Wolfenstein 2 didn't sell a million on the Xbox One, it sold less than 100k on the PC*, it flopped on the Switch, and it BARELY sold a million on the PS4. It's not Nintendo fans that don't want this game, people in GENERAL don't want this game.
*VGChartz has it at 80k, but a thread on here shows alleged leaked Steam data that has it at 500k. It's bad either way though. : /

What exactly is your point dude?
@luxuryheart: stop denying facts. The game is niche in west, there is zero doubt about that but big in japan. Yakuza 5 releases west like 3 years after yakuza 0, that is how niche it is in west but not in japan and asia where it is mainly targeted.
The developer themselves admit that the reason yakuza exist on wii u was to test the market on nintendo and it bombed spectacularly. Niche or whatever the heck your arguement is, its all about profits. Yakuza profitted on ps platforms so they make more, it bombed on nintendo console, so they dont want to do it again. Its pretty simple concept.
Also stop using vgcharts as gospel. They are very innacurate and always readjust their numbers once groups like npd and famitsu release their number.
...
Also please tell me mature games other than skyrim and doom that do well on switch. Heck bayonetta 2 only moved 400k units being critically acclaimed, exclusive and all.

@sakaixx is trying to say that Nintendo fans don't like mature games, and they use Wolfenstein II and Yakuza of all things to make their point.
I'm saying that the general public does not like those games, hence low sales no matter the platform. If you release a game on 4 platforms (80 million + 37 million +67 million monthly active users + 18 million) with a total of 202 million install base, and you can't do 2 million or barely do 2 million, and your game has a lofty budget, then your game is just not popular. Of course Nintendo fans won't buy it since people in general aren't buying it.

Bayonetta shouldn't be used as an argument either, since it's pretty niche. It barely sold over a million on the PS3 and Xbox 360, a combined install base of 168 million. I don't understand why you continue to use niche games that people in general don't want, as an example that Nintendo fans don't buy mature games.
@luxuryheart: I think there is is a flaw in your statement.
Nintendo consoles don't have much of a library of mature games, unlike the rest. Wolf 2 not selling on a PS4 is because Wolf 1, Doom, COD etc are already there.
Mature games never sell on Nintendo, ever. Their own mature game, Eternal Darkness sold poorly. Even being made by Nintendo can't sell a mature game.
Mario on WIIU sold 5 million. Nuff said.

Resident Evil sold 2 million copies on the Wii, Call of Duty sold over a million. If it's the right game, it'll have relative success. Of course not as much compared to casual Nintendo exclusives, but there is an audience there.
Don't use Wolf 1 for Wolf 2 not selling well. GTA IV is on the PS3 and Xbox 360, yet GTA V sold even more than that on both platforms. Wolf 2 is just not a game that the general public likes. You can't blame Nintendo fans for Wolf 2 flopping, when gamers in general let it flop.
@luxuryheart: ok then I will not use bayonetta. You may be wondering why I ask just how it bombed in japan? I set yakuza 5 as late port due to SEGA has no intention of bringing yakuza 5 to west but heard fans cry for the series. Yakuza series is niche in west but is big in japan, it selling less than 2000 copies for a known brand is pretty shit performance.
Back to my original post in this thread, "Good, its not like switch owners gonna support the game anyway" I meant it as indicated by the sales of Yakuza games on Wii U in japan where it sold less than 2000 copies. Wii U which is doing well in japan and had few million seller there like mario maker and splatoon, yakuza wii u only manages to move less than 2000 copies.

The problem is that you're blaming Nintendo fans for not buying the game. Could it be that they think it sucks and leave it at that? Why is it always "Nintendo fans hate mature games, which is why it flopped!" That's like saying the Wii U flopped because gamers don't appreciate Nintendo. No, it's because Nintendo failed to show people why they should get a Wii U.. If a game flops on a Nintendo platform, the developers failed to show why Nintendo fans should have it. It's a failure on THEIR end.

But Nintendo fans are to blame, but for a different reason.
They don't game exclusively on the Switch. They either have a PC/PS4/Bone as well. Of corse they would play a 3rd party game on a better console.
You can blame Nintendo for making another gimmick console that is an accessory to gaming in general, but in the end, it's all of us that have a Switch and another console.

No you blame the developer. Nintendo fans aren't obligated to buy a certain game, and they don't have to buy it on a Nintendo system. If the developer can't convince them to buy their game, then it's a failure on their end.
Nintendo is to blame for core gamers seeing their console as an accessory, since it's their system. Nintendo controls what their system is, what games come to it, what games they make, and how their system is perceived.
I'm not sure if Yakuza would be a good fit for the system either. With the PC version coming and the games widely available on PS4, most will have had the opportunity to play them and in better quality. The Switch version would be a late, and downgraded port.
That being said, there is a gap in the Nintendo Switch library for something like this and the Switch is very popular in Japan.

Blaming ninty fans for not supporting 3rd party dev. When was the last time big 3rd party sold more than 2 million on nintendo platforms other than Dragon quest, Yokai watch, monster hunter and just dance? Those are big names. Smaller, mature games like Yakuza get no chance at all on nintendo platform.
Sold less than 2000. heh

Lots of 3rd party games sold over 2 million. Even the more mature games Like Call of Duty 3 and Resident Evil 4. Call of Duty: World at War was 1.94 million (almost 2 million). Some third party games, not Just Dance, sold over 5 million on the Wii.
Of course you could argue that the Wii U flopped, which prevented Yakuza from reaching its sells potential. In that case it's the fault of Nintendo for their console flopping, not Nintendo fans. At the same time, Yakuza couldn't even sell a million on the PS4. This is the system where AA and AAA third party games thrive, including Japanese games. Point is, there is not excuse for them. If I made a game and put it on the PS4 and PC, and it only gets 200k combined sales LTD, then who is to blame? I would be blamed. If I tried to get on Twitter and blame PS4/PC gamers for not buying my game, then I would be the laughing stock of the year.

And CoD sold 15-20m on other consoles. 2 Million for a population of 100m Wii owners is not much. Same applies to Yakuza, Big enough for Sega to continue to publish on PS platform but not on nintendo platforms.
What is the name of the game that sold 5 million on Wii? come on lets share this, I want to laugh at this (heh wheel of fortune?, really bro).
Wii U did not flop in japan for sake and was selling like every other traditional home console there, it had few million sellers there like mario and splatoon. Sold less 2000 in japan where Yakuza name is most famous, hah.

Notice you didn't address it flopping on the PS4 as well? It didn't even get to a million. At least resident evil and Call of Duty sold over 2 million on the Wii, and they weren't even the main audience. The PS4 audience likes those types of games yet they didn't buy this one. At a certain point you just have to admit that the game sucks, it'll make them better in the long run. People told Microsoft that their console sucked and they managed to somewhat turn it around. People told Sony that the PS3 sucked, and they turned it around and put out the PS4. People told Nintendo that the Wii U sucked and they put out the Switch.

All Sonic games that are on a Nintendo console are around 1 and 3 million.
Now, notice the Sonic game that has Mario in the title.
6 and 11 million.
The crappy Olympic Mario games with Sonic sold more than the mainline Sonic games. Quality has nothing to do with it, since all of it sucks.

It has to do with Mario. Nintendo consoles are consoles used to play Nintendo games with Nintendo mascots. Mario Kart would not sell as much as it does if it weren't for the Mario branding. I'm well aware of that. It makes sense because Nintendo fans buy Nintendo games with Nintendo mascots. They get the system mainly to play Nintendo games. It's the opposite of Sony and Microsoft where most PS and Xbox owners mainly get their console to play third party games, but certain exclusives do push them to a certain decision.
I'm not ignorant of that at all. My thing is that Yakuza still has no excuse to flop like it has. Third party mature games did sell on the Wii, and they sold over 2 million. So it's Sega's fault and no one else's. Now it's hard to pinpoint HOW it's their fault because it could be a few reasons. Maybe the game just sucked. Perhaps it wasn't marketed well enough. It could be both of them combined. Whatever the reason, they have no one to blame but themselves because even if you take Nintendo fans out of the equation, Sony fans buy third party mature games that are AA and AAA, yet Yakuza still flopped.

Sold less than 2000 copies on nintendo platforms and they wonder why 3rd party dont want to come, ninty fans dont even support!

I mean that says more about the game than Nintendo fans. Even Sony fans didn't like it, and they love third party games AND have diverse tastes. If Sega can't even sell a mid to big budget game in an established franchise to Sony fans, then that's a failure on their part. No one else but Sega. Yeah, but you are blaming the west for what Japan did. Yakuza HD never came out in the west.
The SEGA guy looks at Japan 1st, not the west and the WIIU version flopped there. And that was at a time where you can blame the west as well, since Yakuza 4 did poorly. But the truth is in the media create thread. All the Nintendo game they released since the Switch launch are in the top 20.

The latest one did. Take in mind that Playstation users buy third party games and have diverse tastes buying: ARPGs, WRPGs, JRPGs, platformers, adventure games, cinematic games, racing games, etc. If you can't sell a million to that audience with 80 million consoles, then you fail.
It's weird how console makers can mess up, and y'all blame them. Though a third party developer gets coddled and y'all line up like minions. It's like y'all lack a backbone when it comes to third party developers.
@sakaixx: Yakuza 1 & 2 sold about 10,000 on the Wii U. And that's because it was a flop console. Whereas the Switch is selling like hot-cakes in Japan. It makes no sense to judge how it would perform on a smash hit console (Switch) based on how it performed on a flop console (Wii U).
@luxuryheart: Claiming that Yakuza 6 flopped makes about as much sense as that thread claiming GT Sport flopped. User base has nothing to do with what's a hit or flop. A hit/flop is determined by profit/loss. Yakuza 6 is a mid-budget game, likely no more than $20 million. It grossed approximately $60 million, which would indicate a 200% ROI (return on investment). It's a hit no matter how you spin it.
Lots of 3rd party games sold over 2 million. Even the more mature games Like Call of Duty 3 and Resident Evil 4. Call of Duty: World at War was 1.94 million (almost 2 million). Some third party games, not Just Dance, sold over 5 million on the Wii.

I'd like to see how Yakuza 1 & 2 HD would sell on the Switch just to check the Ninty fans one more time. If it sells well they can put Yakuza 0 on there too. If it doesn't sell well on the Switch they can just forget about putting more Yakuza games on there and I'll have a laugh.
Sega doesn't want to bother putting the Yakuza series on the Switch because Yakuza 1 & 2 HD didn't sell well on the Wii U in Japan even though it mainly caters to Japan.

Of course Ninty fans has the blame. The demographics on it didn't want to support mature games unlike on other system which welcomed 3rd party support. I mean the biggest sales for 3rd party on Nintendo consoles in the past 10 years was friggin wheel of fortune on Wii? what the fuk is that?????

How? they even already planning Yakuza Kiwami 3, 4 and 5 is coming to ps4 soon after Kiwami 2. They clearly made a profit? is good profit means not successful?
is selling 2000 units first week is better?

This is how I know you're wrong and not fact checking. The biggest third party on Nintendo consoles within the last 10 years is Just Dance 3 at 10.14 million. Wheel of Fortune didn't even crack a million, thought it got close at .98. It actually sold less than Fifa 10.
They messed up with Yakuza because it didn't even sell a million. It doesn't matter which one failed harder. Some can get in last place, but a person came in 20th place. The person who came in 20th place is still a loser and won't get a medal or even recognition.

When Yakuza HD released in August 2013, the Wii U user base was only 1 million in Japan. The Switch user base is now approaching 5 million in Japan. That's a user base of 4 million more than what Yakuza HD had when it released for the Wii U back in 2013. Sega could just port Yakuza HD to Switch (which shouldn't cost much) and see how it actually performs, instead of jumping to conclusions based on erroneous premises.

They said that Wheel of Fortune was the best selling third party game on the Wii when it didn't even sell a million. : / Yeah they have no idea what they're talking about. It's weird how some people have such negative feelings towards Nintendo and their fans that it really fogs their brain. I compare them to Beyonce because people lose all rational and logical thought(s) when it comes to both of them and their fans.
@Ant_17: Bayo 1 sold 2 million on all platforms, including PS3, 360, Nintendo and PC.
My mistake.
They sold 1.1 million.

My point still stands. PC and Nintendo did lower, so maybe we can guess which of these 2 did the most.
Good, its not like switch owners gonna support the game anyway.
I would if the port was decent.
