Great thread! I've been going through all of the links and having a great time reliving old moments and seeing a few titles that I wish I hadn't missed! If I were to vote for a winner on what I've seen from here, I'd go with Diablo II. My vote for best vintage cheesy opening cinematic goes toKrazy Ivan, though after this thread I can't say it beats many of those listed... though it has to be in the running for best intro to a pretty bad game :P

i dunno if we are just talking about cinematics... but i dont think ive ever been grabbed by the balls like with the ME2 intro level.

I remember thinking "when the hell is the cutscene gonna end, oh snap this is the game!"

I like UC2's intro alot.

I thought FF8's intro was damn good. Pretty cool how they made the little combat training between Squall and Seifer seem so damn important and epic :D

Metal Gear Solid 4 says Epic.

And Prototype's is really good, even if the game sucks.

This...the plane crash...plus going through the water in the submarine and seeing the squid and fish swim pass with the city of Rapture all around you...and then the Big Daddy with the little sister in the glass walkway above you...chilling stuff.

Vagrant Story is my favourite RPG but I think the intro sucks.
