Only difference I noticed is some of the lighting, and Killzone 2 has much better textures than Gears of War 2 does, but really both games look amazing. Thanks for not posting screenshots as 99% of games with the exception of Halo 3 look better in motion.
I can't believe there's that big of a difference, last time I played gears of war 2 was like a little over a month ago, and I thought it looked really good. But really, now that Sony has such a beautiful engine(besides the game), they need to put it to good use and pump out a few more games using it.
The only thing that looks different is the lighting. Plus the video is crappy quality.JakeTD21Watched it in HD wasn't half bad but lighting textures and chracter models belong to KZ, as for gameplay they're both different elements each have a unique way of approaching it.

graphics are the most important thing right?AAllxxjjnn
Why am I not surprised the defending side always use this question? Everyone uses it, seriously. And no its not the most important thing, they add to the experience, but its really the interaction(hence the gameplay) that makes up the experience.
I don't think the difference is all that great personally, especially not when one game was in development over twice as long and isn't using a multiplatform engine.I can't believe there's that big of a difference, last time I played gears of war 2 was like a little over a month ago, and I thought it looked really good. Identity crisis? Isn't that the same cop-out that inspired Aaron Thomas to give Ratchet a sub-AA score? Sounds more like a passive attempt to de-emphasize the game itself by involving every other game ever made. I don't think I need to explain why such a thinly-veiled deceit is just so much rhetoric.Killzone 2 is gorgeous on my hdtv. It is awesome!!
However, gameplay suffers somewhat of an identity crisis. I'd prefer Gears gameplay any day over Killzone 2

You're right, Killzone looks better than Gears. What a shocker. A 4-year developed title with a specialized engine compared to a two-year developed title using the now somewhat-aging UT3 engine. I definitetly didn't see that coming.
The main point is the gears 2 is currently the best looking 360 game and MS has always been chirping gears is a best game that showcases the 360's power and considering KZ2 beats its in so many levels graphically it is alittle disheartening Even the gurellia games is talking about how they can improve on the next KZ but do you really think gears 3 will have a substantial improvement and even match KZ2 in terms of grpahics? i say no but that just my opinionYou're right, Killzone looks better than Gears. Personally, I find both to look great, but I wish there was a bit less blur in KZ2.SpruceCabooseSeriously, blurry guns in KZ2?
Honestly, Killzone 2 does look better. But it's such a marginal difference that it doesn't really matter.
Only thing that I found really cool was the smoke interacting with the engines. Other than that, they're pretty equal. The whole "light through the window" crap was a laugh, though. Shoot, BLACK did a good job of that on the PS2!
Particle effects are much more important to an fps, imoKZ2 looks a bit better, but I find it hilarious how they compare atmosphere and bullet holes but not texture quality, which is something Gears of war 2 does alot better

The first Gears was broken in MP as well. It was, IMO, more broken than Gears 2.Could Care less Gears 2 MP is garbage and broken compared to the first one.

I found you could use to that no problem. In the second i'm not even going to get into naming all of the problems it would take it long.Could Care less Gears 2 MP is garbage and broken compared to the first one.

Thats the demo of KZ2. The game i beat looked better than the demo. A demo KILLZONED GEARS 2 graphically. Damn GEARS and Epic what happened? People that played the last level in KZ2 really know what the engine can do.. the game is bananas son!!!
Or, it could be his opinion. Just because it does not jive with yours does not make it a lie.SpruceCabooseI didn't say it was a lie, but that's just the thing: while it's played as an honest observation, it's an incredibly loaded statement. It's not far from being a weasel word or, in this case, a phrase. Except instead of using an intensifier, it employees a cryptic vagary that sounds negative but doesn't actually explain why. "Identity crisis." What exactly is that supposed to mean and how does it downgrade the game?

Is this your way of saying that you think Gears 2 would have looked just as good if not better than Killzone 2 if Epic took four years to make the game? How are you going to confirm such a thing?
LOL BELIEVE THIS MAN, HE SPEAKS THE UNBIASED AND FACTFUL TRUTH.Thats the demo of KZ2. The game i beat looked better than the demo. A demo KILLZONED GEARS 2 graphically. If I was guessing, I would say it means a game does nothing to distinguish itself from the standards of the genre. A game with no "identity", since it never does anything to stand out and be unique.
the volumetric smoke with the turbine of the drop ship mentioned at the end was pretty coolKGB32It's not actual volumetric smoke, just a pretty effect. The guy speaking was throwing every possible word to make it seem as a technical masterpiece. It already is i dont get why it needs to be said when by just looking at it you realise how awesome it looks. But seriously, dynamic decals and recoil? Welcome back to 2004.
[QUOTE="Shattered007"]If anything I think this Video shows that Killzone 2 isn't leaps and bounds better then GeOW2. That's not to say that Killzone 2 don't look better then Gears but it does show that Gears is no slouch (Just an FYI, I have Killzone 2 and I "DONT" have Gears of War 2.)munu9Hopefully not, gears 2 was suppose to be the absolute flagship game for the 360 in terms of graphics. If K2 was WAY better then it would pretty much prove the PS3 is significantly more powerful care to link? I never saw anyone calling it the flagship of 360's power.
Anyone who has played the game and got to the level with the train can tell you KZ2 is much better visually and technically than Gears 2. The last level was just insane. All that destruction going on all over the place with no slow down was awesome. I really like the barren Helghast village too, that was a graphical showcase by itself. Gears 2 has better character models for sure, but it should since it is a TPS. I am so glad Guerilla delivered.
