Though not having to design the DLC around PS4's limitations helped improve visual quality, it doesn't appear to be a major one. HFW was already technically impressive before hand, this bump feels marginal, and done at the expense of people who could have purchased the DLC on PS4 that don't have PS5s. Worth it? Honestly, can't say myself. That's really up for Sony to decide anyways as I'm sure that's what they had to weigh when they made the decision. That being said I feel this game's PR value has pretty much run its course last year. But for fans of the game with a PS5, it's something to feel good about.
But my feelings about the DLC mostly surround the other reactions to it. The game seems to be getting the most attention by anti-wokeness cultural warriors who knee-jerk react to anything that gives the slightest hint of inclusiveness or threatens the status quo. Seems to be what has spearheaded the game's review bombing on MetaCritic. Even as a big phat filthy lemming who'd look for any excuse to twist the nipples of of the easy to upset bovine brigade, I'll have to pull my punches here.
Even myopically looking at this from my own perspective as a straight male, I just don't get all the lesbian hate. Seems most compulsively heterosexual men are turned on by lesbians, or at least the male fantasy depiction of it. I would imagine something as simple as the lesbian kiss I see mentioned constantly is probably palatable to a large portion of the game's audience.
Regardless, this seems to be an issue overshadowing a large aspect of this DLC's release. Quite possibly not much attention will be paid to the visual improvements in Burning Shores, or even the obvious fact a revered game has a new expansion, as that's just going to become background noise to the bigger issue that's sucking all the oxygen out of the room.
