If you tape a couple of 486's together you should be able to run Crysis on medium settings.
Its just that well optimised.
Good job, You have just started a 10 page flame war that will get nowhere.Aljosa23
Aren't you the guy who always brags about his 2 8800GTX's? That's like $1200 on a gpu alone, isn't it?:?

Who brags? I only said that in a thread where you post your rig. And I didn't even pay more then $550 for those 2 cards. My new PC cost $1200 because I built it myself and here in Canada there is a computer store on every corner basically.you dont always have to buya new case, monitor psu, kb/m, dvd drive and soundcard, unless they brake or etc.
the only thing i would worry about upgrading would the the cpu, gpu, ram and mobo.
I doubt you can...my rig (which is only about a year and a half old) cost more far more than $500 and can not run it maxed out a reasonable frame rate (betwee n20-25 FPS with everything maxed).jdp0412
really? my 7600gs maxes it out.

I'd love to know how much it would cost to build a PC with the specs that are recommended for Bioshock.LosDaddieI see you are on a computer...so I'm guessing you have a case, OS, Keyboard and mouse...hmmm...580. From scratch? Anywhere between 630-690.

Vandalvideo why don't you post your specs along with some pics of your $500, or $600 rig running bioshock? Not everybody can upgrade, I'm on a old HP with 1.3GHz proccessor speed, 256mb of Ram, 16x dvd drive, no video card. Hell I have no choice but to start all over from scratch!
A rig under 800 will make Bioshock look great. I just downloaded the demo from Live! and it looks great on the 360.
Just not as good as a nice PC.
Look up. You still need a sound card, hdd, monitor.
You still need a sound card, hdd, monitor.CB4McGustoSound is onboard, you are typing from a computer right now, and its silly to include the price of a monitor. ZOMG HDTV COSTS 2K for TEH HD FOR YOUR CONSOLE LAWL. Yeah you don't want me to go there.
Hmm I see what you mean but why does this deserve a topic? ...Wait I see your a teenage console fanboy that cant afford a gaming PC, sp intstead of admiring the games you bash them for not being able to run them.
sadikovic
What PC games did I bash? Your assumptions of me being a teenage fanboy who can't afford to PC game sure does tell a lot about your charecteristics.
I often hear people saying that you can build a rig for less than $500, or they have a rig that cost less than $500 that they can play next gen pc games on high settings. Bioshock, Crysis, COD4, UT3, GeOW(pc), etc.. I'm not bashing I just want to see some proof of how well a cheap rig can run these games. I figured the cost of a cpu, motherboard, gpu, dvd drive, case, psu, sound card, k/m, and monitor would cost you well over a grand, especially if your using it to play upcoming pc games. Am I wrong?CB4McGusto
Why are you including a k/m, sound card, and monitor for hte price of a PC, yet you don't include the price of accessories/controllers, sound system, and HDTV for the price of a console? $500 (for BioShock you can actually, not sure about the other games)? No, Little over $600? Yes.

Exactly. Once you buy all that crap, all you have to worry about is the CPU, GPU, RAM, and mobo.

Provide me with links showing what you need and for how much.
I still don't see any pics, or gameplay vids. I'm not bashing, I'm curious to know.CB4McGustoPics from my (650) dollar rig running Bioshock maxed out (at higher frame rates than the 360)

You need to add in an additional 512MB of RAM (those combos only come with 512MB). And what about the DVD drive?
Also, I want to see a like for XP at $70.

And what about the DVD drive? Also, I want to see a like for XP at $70.LosDaddieThats why I gave you such a range on the CPU/RAM/MOBO combo. It includes the price for up to 2GIGS of DDR ram, so throw that out the window. My GOD you are lazy: http://www.pricewatch.com/software_oper_system/windows_xp_home.htm And I could easily go lower on the other parts to negate what you're trynig to do here. If I wanted, I could grab a 7600 for even cheaper, a lower model CPU, etc and STILL have the same price diferential. So stop what you're trying to do, before I go cutting corners and chop down the price even more. DVD drive: 43 dollars Price before me price chopping: 680 (Still within what I originally gave you) Price after me price chopping( back down to 615)
Doesn't look like nothing a console can't do for $300 less, I see a few jags in those bioshock pics too. How is the framerate?CB4McGusto
$300 or less? Try again.......try $350. Or more if you want the Elite, because you gotta have it! What about an HDTV? Sound system? XBL? Extra controllers? Accessories? It all adds up. When I bought my 360, I did not spend only $400, I spent way, waaaay over that.

Yes. You could put a X1950pro in there instead. It should max out those games no problem.

Do you really think that a £1000 PC is braught soley for gaming?
Wait a year just like every generation then you can compare screens and then youll goahh man I need a new PC my 360 version looks like poop!

Yeah.
Doesn't look like nothing a console can't do for $300 less, I see a few jags in those bioshock pics too. How is the framerate?CB4McGustoIn the upper right hand corner: 44 FPS. Don't talk price with me either unless you want ownage. I could go on about how games are cheaper and over the span of a generation your investment will EASILY be negated, and how PC is cheaper. Don't go there young bucky. You are not ready.
My basic specs.
AMD 3800
6800 GT
2 gigs of ram
The computer is probably a lot less then $500 these days. The high settings performance is not too good on Bioshock though.

So, it does cost far more than $350 to builda PC capable of running Bioshock.
