You can run Bioshock on high with a $500 rig, post pics or vids proving it then.

You still need a sound card, hdd, monitor.CB4McGusto
No you do NOT need a sound card. I don't have one. I just use the onboard, which worlds just fine. So knock that back off your list. And you can't count the monitor. If you do, then I can always say "what about the HDTV?". See my point? So also remove the monitor from your list.

AwesomeSo, it does cost far more than $350 to builda PC capable of running BioshockLosDaddie
Don't go off on a tangent now. PC games are much cheaper, and over the span of a generation you could easily negate that small discprency. Its called investment. Learn it.

Read edit, it doesn't run well. I forgot to mention that.:P If I tweaked some settings I am sure that I would get it running good though.

In the upper right hand corner: 44 FPS. Don't talk price with me either unless you want ownage. I could go on about how games are cheaper and over the span of a generation your investment will EASILY be negated, and how PC is cheaper. Don't go there young bucky. You are not ready.

I already went there with youand we found out you stll pay more on PCif you only play the AAA games that are also on the x360....you know the game cows want to play (Bioshock and GeOW).

I went there and there was no problem at all.:) You weren't Mr. Big & Bad like you claim.

Pics from my (650) dollar rig running Bioshock maxed out (at higher frame rates than the 360)

Look at all those jaggies. Thats no where near max. I can run it max, and the demo looks way better than what that pic shows.

Any C2D, with 2Gb DDR2 Ram and 8600GT should be able to run it on high. That would be about 600 with Vista, 500 without.

Tho personally I wouldn't buy a computer like that, imo a good computer costs about $800, with all the monitors etc. it might go up to $1200.

EDIT
Whoops, I put the wrong videocard in the cart, was suppposed to be the MSI 8600GT with GDDR3, but it's the same price anyway.

That right there is the kicker for me. I'm building a rig that will cost 1,800 euro (1,400 if you exclude the monitor and such). On my tracked games list there are 19 PC/360 games releasing between now and the end of 2008. By buying the PC version I will be saving at least 25 euro per game or at most 35 euro. Not only will I be playing them at higher resolution, with better graphics and higher framerate but I will also be saving 570 euro (19*30). And that's only until the end of '08. :P

I've heard that before but you always seem to forget the low low price of the Platinum Hits Collection.

Even a winner like Condemned, I have seen advertised for $14.99 plus many others for under $19.99.

That and the 360 getting another price cut should do the trick for low budget high value gaming. IMHO

PC's aren't all gaming machines. I want you to try to edit movies or go on Photoshop on your 360, You cant, And why do you keep demanding pics. No one is going to go out, pay $500-$600 to make a computer, and then take a picture of Bioshock just so that we can prove it. PS: Computers can Overclock.

Well, you can connect your x360 to a monitor via the VGA cables. So the x360 can use almost any monitor.

That's why adding the cost of an HDTV/monitor is pointless. Some people prefer higher resolutions. I prefer kickin back in my recliner watching my 42" HDTV @ 1080p

What does that have to do with the price of rice in China? I responded to the " console fanboys forget about the price of HD TV " comment.

If I want to play on a 20" monitor then I pay that price - same as PC and higher res on something that small is not all that big a deal.

But then you are not going to be able to sit on your couch with a big *** HDTV and huge surround sound speakers. Like it or not that is what the majority of the console people will say is the ultimate experience. Not 4 inches away (with controller in hand) from a puny monitor.

please do not use that argument, i feel sorry for hermmits, they say something like THEY Can play with better graphics, then console fanboys say

well you can sit on your little chair with little 19" monitor well we console players will play with our 50" screen on a couch, hermit=owned...

so no that counters alot of console fanboys arguments

See and this is why discussion about PC price is kind of pointless. There are so much choices/possible combinations involved.

Vandalvideo why don't you post your specs along with some pics of your $500, or $600 rig running bioshock? Not everybody can upgrade, I'm on a old HP with 1.3GHz proccessor speed, 256mb of Ram, 16x dvd drive, no video card. Hell I have no choice but to start all over from scratch!

CB4McGusto

I've had reports of Bioshock running very well on a 7900GS on high settings, maybe not everything on high settings but usually PC gamers want a higher framerate than 30.

But then you are not going to be able to sit on your couch with a big *** HDTV and huge surround sound speakers. Like it or not that is what the majority of the console people will say is the ultimate experience. Not 4 inches away (with controller in hand) from a puny monitor.smokeydabear076

Read the edit to that post.

I basically said the same thing. The point was that including the price of an HDTV/monitor is pointless.

how much does it cost to max out bioshock on consoles?
360-400 dollars
hdtv-1500

Yeah people always forget about the HDTV for some reason.

If you want to play on a big screen HD TV with the PC; add in the same dollar amount; simple - no?

hmm no cause im not gunna play bioshock 2 feet away in front of a 50" hdtv...

closer you are=smaller the screen size, GG fail

Failure again - If I want to sit close to a small screen I would get a small monitor - simple again - no?

I prefer playing about 10' back on a big HD TV - apples to apples FTW.

but but teh 50" 1080P monitor with couch and girl sitting right next to me!!1

PC is leaps and bounds way better then consoles, and i do both, i started on consoles moved to pc. but still buy consoles...

also live costs money doesnt it? you should add the cost of that, for a lesser, online expierience... pc online is better and mostly free

They always forget to add the XBL cost. What's that, like $250 over 5 years? 3 extra controllers? $150. If you by other accessories even more.

no matter how a fanboy puts it, "teh 2000 dollars"..... pc gaming is still worth every penny... its not like the console department, where you find XBOX live was a total let down, not to mention nothing to play on ps3, and poor poor graphics on wii

Vandalvideo why don't you post your specs along with some pics of your $500, or $600 rig running bioshock? Not everybody can upgrade, I'm on a old HP with 1.3GHz proccessor speed, 256mb of Ram, 16x dvd drive, no video card. Hell I have no choice but to start all over from scratch!

themagicbum9720

I've had reports of Bioshock running very well on a 7900GS on high settings, maybe not everything on high settings but usually PC gamers want a higher framerate than 30.

my 7600 gs maxes it out at 1280x1024.

Well, that's great.

whats your points exactly? i only have 2 controllers for my 360, why would i pay for 5 years when i might have started online this year, so technically for me, xbox live will total 180 bucks (CDN)

yeah console fanboys avoid this, they may say, BUH BUH you dont need HDTV, well console fanyboys, you dont need a GTX do you?

Well, you can connect your x360 to a monitor via the VGA cables. So the x360 can use almost any monitor

But then you are not going to be able to sit on your couch with a big *** HDTV and huge surround sound speakers. Like it or not that is what the majority of the console people will say is the ultimate experience. Not 4 inches away (with controller in hand) from a puny monitor.

wow i just posted the same thing, this is 100% proof that our claims are true

Console n00bs!

If you cant afford gaming PC's then dont complain! This is why PC games have low user review score these days console fanboy n00bs expect their intergrated cards to play the game on max and then complain and give bad reviews because they cant.

Why would you need to buy 3 extra controllers?

Also, you have a point on XBL, but PC still doesn't have cross-game invites.

You need 3 if you want the full experiance, sorry. You can't play 4 player split-screen without it. Without XBL the 360 is at a huge disadvantage. The fact is, if you want to get an experiance similar to the PC, you have to pay 5 years for XBL. Sorry.

I believe we are in agreement about the PC being superior.

The TC was seeming to make the case that the console was a lower budget gaming system when compared to a PC to which I am inclined to see it the same.

Still, if you want the best; PC is the way to go - no if's and's or but's about it. Fair enough ?
