No ****, Sherlock. Yeah, the PS3 is selling a bit more quickly than the 360 at two years old, but who cares? You can't play sales.

Xbuggy360 - 22 million in 3 years

PlayStation 3 - 17 million in 2 years

Note: Xbuggy360 launched with no competiton whatsoever, while PS3 launched when there was fierce competition with a high price tag.

what does this say about XboxPleaseFixMe?

I see numbers that make all the hardcore cows look silly that continually stated the gap between the 360 and the PS3 were 3-4M

[QUOTE="Eddie5vs1"][QUOTE="Eltroz"] It is annoying people saying sales do not effect anything when it comes to the gamer. First and formost it means more games.

Eltroz

To an extent I agree with you, I'm just tired of people on system wars saying units sold=quality. The yearly Madden iteration has sells greater than most games but it is in no way an indication of quality (IMO).

Ph I agree sales do not mean quality. Just stuff like more people online like the poster above said, Fable fans can feel happy knowing Fable 3 will prolly be made now because of the sales. Epic I am sure loves the 360 because of the Gears sales. I am not saying every Epic game will be exclusive but they will always try and put it on the 360.There is many other examples but that just 3 fast ones. Good software sales is really what helps the userbase get more games but better hardware sales helps the userbase get those software sales.

Agreed.  But if we go by this logic, then the original 3P exlcusive to ps2 would have remained on sony because of the ps2 userbase.  Following this notion, Wii would have no support (although they do have minimal now).  I think this gen humbled Sony, and taught all company's that you just can't rely on your laurels and actually have to consistently provide incentives to capture your customers.  MS this time aorund got it right, while Sony relaxed and sold a unit at a ridiculous price point.  Next gen all company's will take note---MS will have fixed its reliability issues, Sony will be more price conscious, and Nintendo will get more childish (Joking.  Just don't know what to make of Nintendo's success.  It came out of nowhere).

I am not pickinf a fight with you.  i agree sales are extremely important.  But I don't see sony going the route of seg because of one (percieved?) failure.  They failed this gen because they lost market share.  But they are still moving units.  MS was a winner because they did alot of things right.  Secured 3rd party Sony exclusives, created some of their own 3p exclusives.  GeOW1&2, this gen's Halo.  Smart.  and Wii just captured market share, and expanded its demograohics---this gen's true genius.

Just wish more ppl in sw could understand the importance of sales as clearly a select few do (Eltroz, to name a select few).  Sales doesn not equal quality, but does equal longevity.  Original Xbox was arguably better than the PS2 hardware, but PS2 won.  PS3 hw better than 360, but 360 winning.  Wii is below standards to qualify as next gen, but sales are killer.   Dreamcast---great system, but vanished.  Again we can't underestimate the importance of sale, but no console is on the verge of disappearing.

And Fangirls--live with it----Wii is eating 360 and PS3's lunch.

The 360 is winning, but the race isn't fair. It never is. You can't expect them to release at the same exact time with the same price tag.

Poor PS3, lol.

Rikusaki

Was the race fair last generation when PS2 released a year earlier than Xbox amd Gamecube, and was winning by a huge margin?
