Where's the option for "the console is a tragic mess"?Zeliard9
Tragic? The only tragedy I see is you not having one.
1) it would be foolish to spend $600 U.S. on a videogame system
2) it doesn't have enough good games
3) it doesn't even have rumble yet

1) Why buy a car that's 50,000 dollars, when there are cars that are 10,000 dollars?
2) What is enough? 5, 10, 20? when is enough for you?
3) So you're waiting on rumble?
1. No stand out games that I want
2. Why wait for good games to come out for a system thats more expensive when I can buy a 360 and have good games now?
3. MGS4 isn't out yet.
4. I want a controller with rumble.
too pricey
no need for blu-ray, and its inflating the console price
the exclusives arent as appealling as the 360's exclusive
no rumble, as of yet
low sales, it might mean a bad future for the console
i might buy a ps3 down the line, maybe in 2 years, but right now, its just a bad deal for me

no good games? Can you define what is a good game?
somthing that is exclusive and scores over 9.0 at gamespot.. again the ps3 aint got any games that i cant get on my superior 360.
In retro-pect to your defintion. The system of your choice, do you only think the games on it are good only if GS gave it an AAA?
1) Why buy a car that's 50,000 dollars, when there are cars that are 10,000 dollars?1: I ask myself the same question. But, obviously for more immediate return. Like the ability to go fast now, not next year.2) What is enough? 5, 10, 20? when is enough for you?
3) So you're waiting on rumble?

2: Enough good games is the amount you can get exclusively on the console before it's worth purchase. Probably 10 exclusive good games or 5 exclusive great games.
3: The new DS3 should be with the system soon enough, right?

no but having aaa titles sure makes my less exspensive console a much better deal.

I've just completed my M.S. and I bought a PS3. In college is not an excuse.
not everyone is the same. different people have to work differently/harder to achieve or have more of a social life or do not make as much money.
not worth the cost.Ontain
Isn't "worth" a personal opinion? What is it worth to you? How does cost comes into play? The biggest fallacy in America. Cost =/= value.
1. It's too expensive (even with the upcomming price drop)
2. It doesn't have enough high-quality, EXCLUSIVE games to justify spending a lot of money on it
3. It's competition (Xbox 360, Wii) has the same games with an even bigger library of EXCLUSIVES

Agreed. Someone who has the wit to be in college should know how to save up for what they want.
Where is the option for already own one?subyman
You don't have a PS3 because you already own one. Right, makes perfect sense

Exactly. And the actual value is less than the actual cost. Which is why it hasn't been purchased yet.1. It's too expensive (even with the upcomming price drop)
2. It doesn't have enough high-quality, EXCLUSIVE games to justify spending a lot of money on it

I challenge point 2. How can you determine quality of game if you never played it? Epistemology: Taking what you believe into what you know.

lmao, I'm glad you said it.
Because of my Xbox 360 that's why.
Because of my Xbox 360 that's why.
- Better Games
- Better Online
- Better Multiplats
- Games release earlier then the PS3 counterparts. (GRAW 2, The Orange Box, just using as an example)
- Price Tag combined with lack of current exclusives keeps me away.
- I know the Dual Shock 3, better games, and a more cheaper price will be out later when I'm ready to buy.
- Its just not offering me anything I can't get on my 360 other then Heavenly Sword and WarHawk.
- I have a Wii and a 360 plus I game on past gen systems a lot. I'm not adding a new system for the sake of it.
- The $399 Model doesn't have B/C which is something I need
I will own a PS3 at one point though. Just not sure when.Blackbond
...pretty much summed everything up
For Various Reasons
A. I have a 360 and wii
B. $600 Price Tag i dont care if you say theres cheaper verisons Cheaper Verisons always suck id want the best
C.Current Game Selection Weak With Sonys normal Heavy Hitters not out yet
D. Ill Own a Ps3 problay by the middle of 08
E. Current Budget cant afford 3 systems
Because of my Xbox 360 that's why.

The best answer so far. In truth, their is no fact why you don't have one, but only opinion of your personal taste. I'll explain later my lunch break is over.

Sorry, but college can excuse anything short of bank robbery. Funnily enough though, I bought a PS3 because I AM preparing to go to college and I don't want to have to pay for online and I wanted a console to last me five years till I'm done. Well I guess Final Fantasy 13 had something to do with it also. I do plan on buying a 360 when they are cheap and non-flamable so that I can play all the great exclusives for it.

It pretty much is. Should have added FFXIII isn't out yet to the list.
I'm just trying to figure out why great gaming on the PS3is being avoided like the black plague? Why defend a system that gives you RROD and great shooters and sub-par other genres? I love Wii, so you should have one of those too.Dylons_Fire
Anyway i have a PS3 but i can see why people are avoiding it, i got mine way too early, and its been collecting dust for a month or two now because there's just not enough great games on it to take my attention from games on my 360 or other consoles, and i'm sure its the same for alot of people, exept they have more sense than me and decided to wait till it has all the games they want.
Dylon....what's this personal Jihad you have against the 360? Just accept the fact that RIGHT NOW the 360 is the best console to own. Does that mean that the Ps3 sucks? NO, but most people agree that the 360 is a better deal and therefore dont need a Ps3. I know it sucks that your favourite console isn't selling right now, but give it time...and dont bash other consoles to make you feel better...
Now go spit some of that hot fire for us!
[QUOTE="Zeliard9"]Where's the option for "the console is a tragic mess"?casey7672
That's simply not true!
People like the 360 despite its shortcomings/failures because of Halo 3 etc. This doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the PS3.
I can see not buying one for the games but "tragic failure" is harsh. I wouldn't even say that about the first year 360 despite their heinous reliability problems. You couldn't even say tragic failure about the Dreamcast.
Mainly price and games, but the little things would be rumble and full backward compatibility. It's pretty flawed right now.LINKloco
It has full backward compatibility, there's plenty of games, more than anyone can afford, they're making them with rumble now, and they're putting out a 40gb for $399.
No matter what Sony does I think people will say something negative, because they're fans of other systems.
