"You don't understand Destiny"-no-you're just hard to please

.... most of the good ones have tons more variety than destiny, and much better gameplay mechanics.... and much better designed dungeons and bosses ... there is actually a much bigger difference... it's not just about the reptitive tasks... its how well they are executed.

Well you do seem to be having an issue reading. Obviously if you make expectations part of your scoring metric then anytime a game does not live up to such expectations the is lowered. IE a lower score than the mechanics of the game warrant due to your precious expectations.

It's a very stupid reason that you gave for the score is all and all the tap dancing around since doesn't negate that fact.

@LJS9502_basic: So, instead of simply quoting the phrase where I suggest a lower score you have to make implications that I did suggest a lower score? For someone who's been on gamespot for quite a while I'd expect a more genuine poster.

Funny thing is even plenty of subless MMO's and f2p have more variety and interesting content than Destiny ever will. People in System Wars may not like Guild Wars 2, for example, but for the same price as Destiny, you get hundreds of hours of varied content, 8 classes, 5 races, far more customization, and far better loot and RPG elements. Planetside 2 is free and the mechanics of shooting are just as good, with far higher player-per-map count and far better play-style variety. And as far as subs go don't even get me started on FF: ARR or WoW or Wildstar comparisons.

Destiny is just baby's first ARPG, it doesn't hold even the slightest candle to the MMO's it wishes it was.

Haven't read any of the replies since last time I've been here and not going to since this has turned into a crap fest.

So, all I'll say is that I finished the raid with some ppl in my clan and I have to say....this game is the most fun I've had online since WOW first came out.

Truly a fun game.

I made this thread to ask why gamers always say one thing and then do another.

The game being Destiny was just an example. I've said this before on other forums.

Really? Go back and read your original post again. It reads like a fanboy ranting that his favorite game didn't get perfect reviews and is trying to run some damage control because people are finally starting to see the light and realizing that it's not all they thought it was going to be.

Then, you go on to discount World of Warcraft as "not fun anymore" while that game has more active subscribers than Destiny has players on all platforms combined. Using your own logic, the fact that WoW has so many players is proof that the game is fun and that you're wrong.

You are just one of those people who can't stand when others don't like what you like on the internet, and you lash out at them because you are incapable of expressing yourself in a more intelligent manner. Everyone has different tastes, the sooner you accept that the sooner you'll stop being such an asshole to others. You can just save the whole "But they were mean to me first! Hmph!" response, it doesn't hold any water and two wrongs don't make a right, so stop blaming other people for your own behavior and start taking responsibility for your own actions for once.

I see your point. But first off what are people doing that they beat the "story" in 7 hours? Took me longer. The thing people bring up with Destiny that I think is BS is the Hype or massive marketing campaign. When I play a game, I decide what I think of the game, I don't factor in its marketing budget or the hype that online sites and gamers gave it. I play and assess the game, period.

7 Hours would be perfectly fine, if it actually had any form of pacing, sadly, each mission is the exact same, with extremely little variety.

It does, but ultimately the PvP is much better in say... Halo.

"Online co-op"

3 man co op. The games it tries to compete against has 4-6 man parties, and raids with over 10 people.

Yes, Destiny has a lot of features, but everything comes across as half baked. The only thing the game has going for it is decent gunplay, but when the enemies are boring to fight and the pacing is nonexistant, good mechanics wont do much to save the game from being the mediocrity it is. Borderlands 2 does nearly everything that destiny does, better, and it came before as well.

Only they're not "saying one thing and doing another" because the ONLY polished aspect of Destiny is its gunplay..... which MANY shooters already do and better. every other mechanic is a shallow shell of what other games have accomplished.

It's easy to say a 10 year old game isn't fun anymore.... but its damn well better designed to this day than Destiny.... Vault of Glass is a "Start" on good design but still a bullet sponge borefest. the scores and general attitude are justified towards this title.

For gods sake its got TWO vehicles.... TWO.... from the guys that made halo... they could of carbon-copied Halo's vehicle types with better success! but damn... they clearly want us to pay £35 for their 2 friggin expansion packs to get anywhere near a complete game.

5 years.... and this is it.... critism is totally justified for what we received.

Mods should really lock this thread, it was flamebait from the start since TC not only ignored the replies, but also started to attack people when the thread didn't go his way

I hope to play the 2nd version later on down the road when they improve it.

Destiny at its core is a good game surrounded by hours upon hours of RNGs and grinding in order to get better gear.

I mean when i've done the same strike like 5-10 times and am hardly half way to vanguard 1 it's a problem.

It's a piece of gold wrapped in a turd. It could be so much better and fun. But after level 20 it's all grinding the same stuff over and over and over again and for what? Just about nothing? Great they fixed the engrams. But what about everything else?

There's no social aspects, there's no way to group with anybody...it's just a complete and utter mess right now.

As someone with 60+ hours in the game (currently have a Level 27 Titan and a 26 Hunter)...this thread is bad. Bungie & Activision put out a turd. It's a very well polished turd. But it still stinks. If I'm being 100% honest, I would have stopped playing this already if it wasn't for the T rating it has. It just so happens I can play this while my young children are still awake, and that reason has kept me playing far longer than I normally would.
