as we all know, its that time of the year to crown either a Nintendo game or a Sony game as GOTY and what better way to kick it off with gamers choice of GOTY.

When was the last time an XBOX game was a contender for GOTY, 2010?

IGN not including Animal Crossing: New Horizons as best game of the year just proves how out of touch IGN really is.

I'm almost done with GoT and it's already my GOTY. I really liked TLOU 2 but GoT is waaaaay more fun.

Still got too many games from this year that I need to play through first before I make my pick but I would have voted “Something Else”. I’m kind of thinking that Cyberpunk 2077 will ultimately be my GotY 2020.

Same here and I really enjoy Ghost of Tsushima more so than TLOU2. Not saying TLOU2 is a bad game by any means, Ghost of Tsushima is the AC in Feudal Japan I always wanted.

The gamers got it right. FF7R is an odd omission though. I'd rank it 2nd. Someone at IGN must have got their ass handed to them to not include it. Especially when pure garbage like Valhalla is up there.

Nothing even remotely worth playing now or even last year. Glad I have a PC.

GoT is one of the most boring games I've played this past gen. Repetitive and unchallenging combat, dead open world. Jebus.

Maybe play your games on normal difficulty at the very least?

I think it just shows the fan boi bias on the IGN forums/polls. Why is the Spiderman Morales DLC pack even on the list for example?

@SolidGame_basic: I played the game on lethal. And it's not even about getting good, combat is well animated but it's just that. To each its own but I honestly can't get it, not a bad game just a 7/10. And the open world is unreactive and completely lacks emergent gameplay, feels like a 360/PS3 world but with obnoxious visual pollution that people call "great art direction".

But people were thirsty for a AC game in Japan, might be because of that.

GoT on lethal mode is just way too fun. platinum the game and really love it. havent played Last of Us 2 though.

If GS had a poll, i'd be the only one voting for TLOU2. The rest of SW would only be talking about how SJW it is and how shitty the story was.

@i_p_daily: Ori was great. But their launch was bad and a lotta people I heard was annoyed with the bugs, glitches, crashes, etc.

GOT on the hardest difficulty with no HUD is amazing.

Well i'm having fun with the cow alt, and it did score higher than the game winning the poll. So i want to see how he wiggles his way out of it, cow squirm is the best squirm :)

According to gotypicks, the last time xbox console exclusive got overall GOTY of the year was in 2003 with Star Wars KOTOR.
