Deus Ex. One of the greatest games ever. I played the original like 3-4 years ago first time and it was phenomenal. HR is pretty great as well.

Hitman bored me pretty fast, MGS was just okay based on what I played (pretty much only 3, but I got PW as well I never played) but I can see why people would really like it, and Splinter Cell was decent on the little I played.

Metal Gear Solid. I never really got into Splinter Cell or Hitman and I did not like my time with Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Its pretty underrated and it got awesome main theme OST in whole series :)

As a franchise Metal Gear.

Individual best game of the bunch, I could go either way on Snake Eater, Chaos Theory, and Deus Ex, with Blood Money also being excellent, but beneath the other 3 for me. As much as MGS4 is a disappointment, nothing that game does competes with the shit barrel that is Splinter Cell Conviction or fucking Deus Ex Invisible War.

Now we add Thief into this, and Thief 2 is taking my top spot, that game is still the best stealth game for my money.

None of the games have the style of Metal Gear Solid.

I'll go with this as well.

It's a toughie. I'd say Metal Gear due to consistency, but while Snake Eater is my favorite game in the series, Chaos Theory is just as good, and the original Deus Ex is as good as both them.

As for Hitman, well, the more I try to play any game from that series, the more I begin to dislike it altogether. Silent Assassin used to be my favourite out of the bunch, but now it's just a slog.

I love MGS for epic crazy espionage action gameplay and story.

I love Splinter Cell for the more grounded but still fantasy of being an elite ass kicking agent. I also read the novels and love that world.

I love Hitman for the challenge of trying to pull off the hits as cleanly as possible.

I loved Deus Ex, and liked HR as well but I am not as big on this series. I just don't feel like a badass in this game. The trailers are great!! But I need a candy bar after knocking out 2 people. If that's the future they can keep those shitty robotics.

Metal gear destroys everything, then splinter cell. Hitman is ok but I don't think I have finished a single Hitman game. DeusEx.. I really can't get into no matter how hard I try. I did have fun at times and I finished Human Revolution. Need to try and get back into the original but really can't see that happening.

Those are my top 5 stealth games, all of them are amazing if you've missed some.

Metal Gear=Deus Ex>>>> The rest are meh.

I enjoy the MGS games, but they feel clumsy a lot of the time. My favorite one is 3, and that one has a few issues. I like Hitman because it really emphasizes stealth over anything else. Deus Ex, judging form HR (I have the first game on Steam, just need to get around to it) is really great. Haven't played Splinter Cell. But I think my favorite stealth game would be Thief. I'm in the middle of playing it and it still holds up remarkably well today.

Metal Gear. Even if it doesn't have the best stealth mechanics, and has too many cut-scenes, it's just the overall better franchise. It has better overall gameplay, action, story, characters, pacing, etc. But out of the Metal Gear series, my favourite is MGS2.

Human Revolution > Ground Zeroes > 3 > 2 > Peace Walker

Hitman, it has the most rewarding experimentation for its missions.

Deus Ex 1 > *

Splinter Cell, Deus Ex, Hitman, and MGS is my ranking for them but I love all of these series a hell of a lot.

I never played a Hitman game nor Chaos Theory and Human Revolution.

My preferences:

Metal Gear Solid > Hitman > Splinter Cell > Deus Ex

Mind you that I've beaten ALL main MGS games, ALL main Hitman games, ALL main SC games with the exception of Double agent

When it comes to DE I've only beaten Human Revolution and loved it but since I have little exp with the series its the only reason I put it last.

I'd go with Splinter Cell, I have liked all of the main games in the series, Deus Ex I only played Human Revolution, but is one of my all time favorites, never could get too much into Hitman, and finally I have never liked Metal Gear Gameplay (although it has some cool things going for it)

I'm a Splinter Cell guy (Blacklist and Chaos Theory in particular)
I didn't like Hitman Blodd Money and that's considered the best in the franchise so I don't feel the need to go others

I only really care for Metal Gear Solid 3 and Deus Ex: HR. The other games are whatever or I haven't played them.

Deus Ex, personally. I've always wanted to be into MGS, just have never committed to playing any of them to completion, minus Metal Gear Acid 2 and Ground Zeroes.

SC and Hitman have never appealed to me much.
