[QUOTE="jg4xchamp"] Epic Yarn was 7 shades of good looking horse crap.

It was a really good if you accepted the game wasn't hard. From graphics to creativity in design, to mechanics the actual platforming to soundtrack it was a mighty fine game. People automatically ascociate easy with terrible. The game was one of the best made platformers in an extremely long time and the soundtrack was stellar.
It was insulting. It's only claim to greatness was the creative visuals, and some clever levels here and there. Mechanically it's pretty by the book, the lack of challenge makes the basic platforming just a going through the motions routine, and some of the turn into a vehicle segments were just messy on an interface level. A light game is fine if done in an interesting way(for instance there is no difficulty in Journey, yet that's entertaining in its own right), but Epic Yarn essentially plays itself without really satisfying you with anything other than "aww that looks cute".
DKCR I can get behind. Some chaotic level design and lame motion movement aside the platforming and level design in that game is pretty damn good.I think the soundtrack was approaching Galaxy level. It was really good. Different but super well put together. Better than Donkey Kong, better than Rayman, better than any other platformer this gen besides the galaxy games. There aren't many games with awesome paino soundtracks either. In terms of mechanics I thought it was great. You have your jump as always, your float, your quick pound, your speed up (which was that adorable car), and your multi purpose grab which lent itself to lots of other gameplay ideas. Then of course there was the power up which lent extra variety to the gameplay, As I will say, the game is really easy for a seasoned gamer but if you don't mind that its not a challenge if you play platformers its great. The act of not being able to die also does not bother me, losing all your beads is worse than dying, its a direct punishment for sloppy play yet doesn't break the flow using a useless life mechanic. I also didn't find the vehicles messy at all. I don't see what is messy about 2 button and a tilt interfaces unless you suck ass at gaming. Tilt to aim home, press button to fire water, not exactly rocket science. :|
I enjoyed what the game brought to the table, I thought it was light while still requiring one to pay attention if they wanted to get everything and it was a technical marvel in graphics and sound.
