What's your most favorite underrated game of this year. For me it's alone in the dark, I know it has some bad dialouge and story, but I feel the game is totally awesome and difficult at times, and the beauty of the graphics of central park look pretty good too, and it's fire effects are so great and so is the item system, despite the fact that everything is explosive, taping a box of bullets to bug spray and using it as a mini bomb I love it!

Thats a really good one too. Loved it from begining to the end, and despite the fact I would have loved the dreams to have been narrated, they were extremely deep and well written.

Skate. Best skating game I've played since Thrasher: Skate and Destroy on the PlayStation and doesn't have the moon-physics/tractor-beam-grind gameplay that makes up the Tony Hawk series. That and it is a solid, well-made EA game... which is completely unbelievable. I personally got about 20 hours out of the game and would have easily have payed $60 for it but was able to get it for $40. I don't see how it has inherently "lower value due to it's length" seeing as how all the games that have scored 9.0/9.5 on Gamespot have had 6-hour campaigns.

Underrated how? at gamespot? by critics in general? or by "gamers"(people at these forums, as i don't frequent other forums)? Well, these are off the top of my head.

Gamespot: Boom Blox and Lost Winds most definitely!
Critics: Lost Odyssey
SystemWars: Not to sure, Twilight Princess is at the top of that list but since you're restricting me to this year.. perhaps brawl(everyone seems to hate it here, or at least think it is a shell of what melee used to be). But i might need a refresher on what games everyone seems to hate here. :)

The Flickit system alone makes it better than every Tony Hawk game combined, even 2 and Underground. You have to do every single ollie and fliptrick, nothing it done for you and the physics make it much more real-to-life. Some people may like the moon-physics but personally, as someone who enjoyed skateboarding and was terrible at it, Skate is my dream come true.

Comparatively for it's time, I do think Thrasher: Skate and Destroy still has the advantage over Skate for being "the most realistic." Skate is definitely the better and more realistic game by modern standards but in 1999 with game technology as it was I'd say it was easily more realistic "for it's time."

People knock it for being short, but the game is solid and pretty darn fun to play.

I think Patapon and Echochrome are underrated personally. Coming in at a close second I need to mention Star Wars : The Force Unleashed. What can I say, I love the game.

No one ever has. It was severely trounced by Tony Hawk and never got off the ground. Fantastic skating game that has only ever been surpassed by Skate in terms of "true-to-life" styIe skateboarding.

I had a hard time finding the game (I played the demo for countless hours) when it came out... I don't know if it's even possible to find it now... aside from maybe eBay.

I guess, off the top of my head, Stalker Clear Sky (PC), Mercenaries 2 (PC), and Spore (PC). Spore deserved a better score IMO than most sites gave it credit for. As for the others, Stalker is an incredible game but is hampered by bugs which, just like the first one, will be fixed in 1 or 2 patches (most already fixed with the first patch). Mercenaries 2 is just a fun game. 5.0 or whatever GS gave it seems very low for it IMO. It's not like the game was attempting to be Half Life 3 or something.

I liked it, but I can understand why a lot didn't. The game is extremely unpolished, and it takes a special kind of gamer to look past those and appreciate what's there. :P I'd recommend taking it for a test drive on PS3, though.

I don't see how it has inherently "lower value due to it's length" seeing as how all the games that have scored 9.0/9.5 on Gamespot have had 6-hour campaigns.foxhound_fox

The only reason I'm considering buying a console is because of SKATE, being a skater myself the game looks so awesome.

Crackdown was suprisingly enjoyable even though i just bought it for the beta.

Haze was bad but you can add all the good parts together for about 4 minutes of good.

Its not out yet so I obviously dont know yet, but I think I am really going to like Valkyria Chronicles. LOVe that style of graphics and gameplay
