Grand Theft Auto IV when you finish the game after that epic chase... World of Warcraft, the whole game but of course when you discover a beautiful new zone and explore the world and finally realise this world is the greatest ever made

Before playing MGS4 I would have said things like many other have said in this thread, but after completing that masterpiece of a game nothing even compares at all now. Though walking down the wall of the citadel core behind the gargantuan reaper in Mass Effect wasn't bad either :P

I'm not to familiar with him. Was he an epic fanboy? But yeah, back on topic. looking back, as much as I used to harsh on it, SoTC in it's entirety was Breath Taking.

In Medieval 2: Total War; my tiny army of 241 soldiers versus over 3000 Turks. It was an epic battle in which I won; probably because I was defending a citadel but that's besides the point. The french own. :)

In the first Resident Evil when the dog came crashing thru the window i was scared the whole game, in Bioshock fighting my first big daddy, and my most memorible image in gaming was seeing bahamut get dominated by alexandria/alexander in ff9.

the endings of FFVII, IX, and X had me pretty enthralled and took my breath away. I guess that counts. Oh and the final fight at the end of MGS4. The fist fight...you guys know what i'm talking about.

Most recent are playing the opening level of Super Mario Galaxy, seeing Prince of Persia in motion for the first time, playing through the final act in Gears 2. Older moments -- Playing Sands of Time, God of War for the first time .. Playing Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and Super Mario World for the first time -- The final showdown in KH2. Wow, theres wayyyyy too many.

I did a free for all in Starcraft. This one guy who played terran absolutely wrecked me. His skills were much better than mine, however he made a fatal mistake. Through his arrogance he underestimated his opponent. In a moment of pity he spared me my hatchery and a few workers. What he didn't realize was that I was zerg and I had stockpiles of $$ over 20k in each resource. I immediately expanded and began to pump out nothing but workers until I had an army of them. Then I dropped hatcheries everywhere massing hydras. I created a horde that was unstoppable. Whenever his battlecruisers killed a hydralisk there were 3 more to take it's place. Realizing the tables had turned the skilled terran player begins to throw a tantrum that turned out to become the most rewarding experience from my victory. :)

***SPOILER***

It was such a sad moment seeing being destroyed by the sathanas

When I saw that, I felt so...doomed. The greatest that humanity had to offer was destroyed with ease by one ship out of many. The sense of doom was so strong that it was oppressive.

the power of the FreeSpace series was over 9,000. when the flight sim genre makes its comeback, I hope FreeSpace 3, X-Wing 2, and Tie Fighter 2 lead the way.

Accessing the Piklopedia in Pikmin 2 for the first time. Just being able to observe all the different creatures and read Olimar and Louies notes on them and see what they would do when you threw carrots at certain points just made me go WOW.

Another moment that struck me deeply that I forgot to mention was back in the original Unreal, when you leave the ship at the very beginning for the first time, and you are introduced to a pretty alien world with awesome ambient sound and music, and birds were circling overhead. When I was little I would play just to get to that part.

I remember a similar scenario in Medieval 1 for me. Had 73 byzantine infantry vs the main Mongol army of some 1500 men. (7 true heroes survived)

I won, their king was killed and their faction was vanquished.

Darn I was lucky their ballistas ran out of ammo lol.

The most breathtaking moment, for me, was my first sighting of the GTVA Colossus in Freespace 2.

The thing is just so massive, and fills you with a feeling of safety, as though it is an aegis for humanity, protecting it against all that stands to destroy us...

thepwninator

Gotta say I found the encounters with the SJ Satanas more thrilling, those ships are monsters, smaller but awesome. The point where a satanas destroyed the damaged Collossus was simply epic, I still cry for that ships destruction at night!.

The Embassy battle in GRAW

Most of Mass Effect

Attacking the SSD Executor in X-wing: Alliance

The armored train level of Medal of Honor: Frontline

The Volga-crossing sequence on your way to Stalingrad in Call of Duty

The Sink the Musashi level in Heroes of the Pacific

...That's all I have for now

Verge_6

I remember Attacking the executor in X-wing Alliance, was awesome. Pity I never completed the game, was always too annoyed when going through deathstar, took soooo long time.. Never had the patience too get back out.

The main one for me was the 1st time i loaded up Mario 64, i just couldn't believe what i was seeing and to this day i have yet to top how i felt seeing that. My most recent one however was back when i was playing GRAW1 on my brandnew 360 (just after release), i was on mission 3 and the embassy blew up, i nearly shat me pants as i so wasn't expecting it (i hadn't really kept up to date on any info - impulse purchase) and to add to it my 5.1 system was up quite loud and the sub was really bassy, i was GREAT!!!, i remeber it so well as my missus came running down the stairs screaming WTF was that!!! (she musta thought the living room had blown up lol).

Wow there are so many. The first thing that came to my mind was the intro to Final Fantasy VII. I remember how impressed I was when I first saw that- especially because it wasn't all kiddied-up like FF2(4) and FF3(6). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JujtlsiqZ-E I got chills the first time I played that. Also- like all of Half-Life had me completely speechless. I was so impressed by that game. Didn't care for the sequel though.

GAWD, I can't believe how drawn out that was. I don't remember the Rebel ships flying into giant caverns (aside from the reactor one of course) or the Death Star II's laser tunnel either...and trying to escape was even worse.

When you first see the tower and what the world has become in HL2

The ending of FF8. I'm not sure what happened, but it was touching nonetheless. I was majorly crushing on Faye Wong before the game anyway, which helped.

When Tidus pulls the tackle in bltizball in the opening cinematic of FFX. Mostly because I was freakishly excited for this game, and I kind of liked his "Im a star player" attitude, at first anyway...

When Snake solutes a certain grave in MGS3

Edit: Oh yes

*SPOILERS for ODIN SPHERE*

When you take out velvet's brother w/ mercedes. That's pretty sad. Not the correct way to go though.
