Yes it's insanley addictive. I'm at the very last level (241 stars) and every time I try to beat it, I end up dying over and over... but I NEED to beat it. That's why I don't attempt to beat it that often. I always get sucked into that midset of "I'll do this differently this time."
it is the best platformer ever made. The levels are just freaking amazing and it looks amazing on the wii hardware witch is hard to do .
I agree but I think it got a 10/10 because they rounded up if Gamespot had the old scoring method it would probably be a 97.6 or higher so they rounded up to 10/10.Wasn't perfect, but pretty damn close to it.
Terrific game.

? My only conclusions point to fanboys, following fools like GS reviewers, the Wii library is THAT bad, or the fact that 2 3D Mario (MARIO) Platforming games appeared on one system at the same time, or Nintendo is paying for this crude, or the fans don't want Mario to die and end up like Sonic or whatever mascot so badly that they will do all in their power to prevent the game from failing and will blindly play the game even though they know the game is not really that good, or the world is insane.Captainqwark10Or it could be that the game really does deserve the accalim and you're just bitter. :|

Best game I've ever played.
aroxx_ab
You must play more games man...
You mean like Call of Duty?:|Don't know about it being a 10/10 but still a fantastic game. In my opinion the best Mario game out there.
The difficulty in some parts was just to easy (that may be because i'm used to games were they kick me in the sack at how hard they are), but appart from that, it's a perfect game, by far the best game i've played on the Wii, and top 5 best games this generation. Like another user said, crack on disk. It's a perfect platformer.
I thought it was pretty good. Could'ntstop feeling it would have been better without star bits and just using a classic DA controller.
I give it 8/10 because i feel generous. yes, generous but there are quite a few AAAs I think are'nt exactly deserved.
Really good game, I can't really say as far as the score goes because I don't really like 3D platformers. IMO Donkey Kong Country Returns is the one that deserved a 10 :)
I have not finished SMG2, I only played it while babysitting my nephew. (I am a terrible babysitter) But from what I played I justify it like this TC: I dont want to stop playing it. Not many games can hold me for more than two hours at a time. SMG and SMG2 have.cainetao11Indeed. The levels always feel fresh, no level is the same.
I have to almost agree. For sure it's the best 3d platformer ever made, I don't know what my favourite this generation is though!Best game this gen, and the best 3D platformer ever made.
Renegade_Fury
Top five in no order (games that i've played obviously)
Super Mario Galaxy 2
Halo: Reach
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Portal 2
Civilization 5

Mass Effect 2 is a horrible casualized sequel, BioWare should be ashamed of themselves for releasing an action game with a horrible main story as a sequel to one of the best stories this gen in the first game.

ME2 was amazing, BioWare did a great job. They should not be ashamed of having one of the best and highest rated games this generation, clearly they knew what they were doing :D[QUOTE="super600"][QUOTE="Captainqwark10"]Now, I want serious answers here. Do YOU think, and I mean REALLY think, while looking at other games on the syste, heck not just on that system, do you REALLY THINK SMG2 deserves all of the critical praise it got> Think about this now. Because when I saw the game get high scores of 10/10 and all this praise about being one of the best ever made I seriously had my Wii out the window about to throw it as I thought the world had freaking gone crazy. I personally do not believe how this game got this much praise when it came out. Eventually becoming more popular and getting these hard to believe reviews. To me, the game was a step back and I cannot find one reason, not even an explanation from somebody that likes the game, that is enough of a reason to prove to me why this game got all it's godly reputation from. I think it has to do with the fact that most Wii games are indeed lacking. They are poor, and every game no matter who releases it, that is better than the large pile of lacking games, will instantly be overrated. I am even talking about the first SMG, which I still think is better than the 2 even though I also think that was overrated. But that's just an opinion. What's yours?Captainqwark10
Literally everything about the game was amazing. The graphics and art style were incredible, the gameplay was creative and fun in literally all the main 122 starmissions(even though the green stars were the weakest part of the game),the final mission was a brutal test in SMG2 gameplay, thesoundtrackis incredible and can't be matchedby any Wii game
Ok, While we are shouting opinions i will attack them anyway just so I am clearer. The Graphics were not amazing. It looked good but not to the point were I would even give them an 8. The game looks honestly like something that can be done/or close to being done by the GC. Also, a bit blocky at times. Art Style? Art Styles doesn't make the game, espeically when it looks simillar to other games in the SAME series. The gameplay was creative? Other than adding a Yoshi it is the same game I have played since SM64 with minimal upgrades. Fun is an opinion, but I think that's what's blocking people from seeing the flaw of the game that I will not be listing as it is long. The soundtrack? God I hope that's not why you buy games.Adding: Very Linear, Some objects look like they were ripped from earlier games. Fuzzy, We have been collecting stars for how long now? Actually, what has this game done to improve the first game in ANYWAY is really my question.Awesome game, and undeniably a 9.0 or higher, but giving it a 10 is quite a stretch (I try and reserve 10 for special occasions). I go back and forth between 9 and 9.5 for the game. My issues are the lack of a good hub world, lack of difficulty in most areas (some are brutal), and a couple other things. SM64 is still my favorite by far.
I hope you realize anyone can do what you are doing to any game.. No matter how good it is. Youre nit picking so much its ridiculous.
I recognize it's quality and sheer brilliance, but i got bored with it after a few weeks. Same with the first galaxy. I guess it just wasn't for me.

I have no problem with the story, the RPG elements, the shooter elements, none of it. It was one of my all time favorite gaming experiences. And I own both for 360, so the carry over while downplayed by some, was just so cool.[QUOTE="super600"][QUOTE="Captainqwark10"]Now, I want serious answers here. Graphics like on the GameCube? Um, did you ever play any GameCube games? Really just compare the game to Super Mario Sunshine, and that should be all that you need to know that Galaxy 2 looks WAY better.
"SM64 with minimal upgrades"? I didn't know that Super Mario 64 had spherical planets and gravity in it. Not to mention completely different power-ups, Yoshi, and tons of other new gameplay elements like, oh yeah - 2D levels.
Yes, it was pretty linear - but then again so was Super Mario Bros. 3, which is also one of the highest-rated games of all time. If you don't like that, fine - but that alone doesn't make it bad.
We've been collecting stars for 15 years since Super Mario 64 came out, and I can't wait to do it again. It's a ton of fun.
Super Mario Galaxy 2 improved on the original by introducing TONS of new gameplay elements. Every level had you doing something new - something that was not true of the first game. Every star was a new idea. That lent the game a sense of discovery and anticipation - that's why I personally never got bored while playing it. That's what makes it such a great game, and why it got so much praise.

9/10, it has great pacing, excellent platforming, looks great (for a wii game), superb soundtrack, keeps you entertained all the way through. The only problem I had with it was its uneven difficulty, some parts are way too easy, others are too difficult. It was well worth the money. It is the only game that scored a 10 on gamespot this gen I would personally give above a 5, MGS4 is a 4.0 and GTA4 is a 3.0.
A fantastic platformer that really sets the bar for all future 3D platformers... but like all 3D Mario games, has a hard time keeping my attention. I think I want to trade in my copy for credit towards MK. I've never been big on the 3D Mario games, and if it can do something for me besides collect dust on my shelf, then it is all good. Though, I may save it for credit on Forza 4 and use DA:UE for MK. It really hurts to have to trade games, but what can I do when I have a very limited budget and want new games that may provide more lasting entertainment? I am glad Gamestop offers big time credit boosts for trade-ins (up to 40 on 55+ games) instead of their old system of a dollar or two per game. Anyways, i'm hoping for another NSMB game on the Wii before the next-gen console comes out... though now I can access the level editor... >_> *cough*foxhound_fox
How come you're not too fond of the 3D games?
I felt that the Galaxy games were more like the 2D versions. They're more linear than what Super Mario 64 and Super Mario Sunshine offered.
Just wondering what makes you not too fond of them?

I don't tend to enjoy 3D platformers in general. I don't think I can name a single one that I preferred over any 2D platformer. Out of all the 3D Mario games, nostalgia not considered, I'd say I enjoyed Sunshine the most, mostly for the FLUDD elements. Galaxy 2 is an amazing game... but I just couldn't stay interested in it for very long, while on the other hand being able to invest 25+ hours into DKCR and NSMBW each, and having an interest in picking them up again in the future and going through them again.
