I would like to see backwards compatibility with the PS4, so all you Sony folks can carry your libraries over next gen. Also, it would be cool to see backwards compatibility for PS1, PS2 and maybe even PS3. Make it so any digital purchases made on previous consoles can be used on the PS5. :)

improved controller. the PS4 controller was a big improvement over the dumpster fire that was the PS3 controller but there is room for improvement still. e.g. flappy paddle buttons and the touch pad (which would be handy for vita BC: see below) should be on the underside of the controller.

powerful enough to do 4K well. 4K 60FPS as standard is a non runner of course but i would like to see it powerful enough and designed cleverly enough that it can run the games of tomorrow (with all the extra demand in terms of high res textures, fancier shader usage and so on) and still present a great 4K image. i think 4K native as standard will also be a non runner (especially as the gen goes on) but i hope whatever tricks they use to construct the 4K image dont end up making the image look rough.

better management of loading times and installs. i actually dont know how console manufacturers are going to tackle this. the amount of data games will take up next gen will be huge....how best to shove that data around? but i dont want to see loading times and install times shoot up.

Full BC. it would be great if they did the whole PS family: 1, 2, 3, PSP, vita and PS4. 1,2,4,PSP and vita should all be doable. also no streaming: all BC done natively. i skipped the PS4 so i plan to get a PS5 and raid the PS4 backlog at some stage.

Now cows want BC with the PS5, well hopefully Sony heard the cows early calls when they said it doesn't matter and makes PS Now version 2 alongside the release of PS5, that way we can all enjoy cows make excuses for Sony and say that BC doesn't matter again, fun time on SW :)

For the Sony games to come to PC like Xbox Play Anywhere so I don't have to waste money on another console. Otherwise, 60fps for the exclusives as that is all I will be playing on it.

BC for Ps4 would be nice (don't care about 1-3). More games from all the great studios :). That's pretty much it.

they revive PS3's PS1/PS2 Classics catalog and add to it, keep pricing similar, I don't care about games needing trophies and emulator enhancements, and honor rights to previous purchases

Make the controller battery last as long as PS3 controllers did or longer if they can, make it backwards compatible with all Playstation consoles (this would be ideal for any console), and give us an option to play all games at 60fps so I am not wishing I could just run exclusives on my PC instead. Other than that, if they don't f*** up, they should be good with the momentum they have got with the PS4.

Uhh the frame pacing issues have nothing to do with the hardware of the PS4 and more to do with From Soft being a small team and poorly optimizing their games. Just look at how terrible the initial release of Dark Souls was on PC.
