@Ballroompirate: Just took a glimpse.
People are really into this, like Starcraft level into it.
Calling out OPs, projectile speeds, abillity vs abillity and comparing heroes.
Yea I don't see Overwatch "failing" 6 months after its release XD

Well, if they say that Overwatch 2 is coming in a year or two, maybe.
Still, the game looks good.
The only thing I'm worried about now is the community. Moba communities are the reason that I don't play Moba's. In the Beta there are many ways to indicate a player is behaving badly. I hope those systems stay in place for the final release to protect cute and cuddly people like me.
Bleh I was hyped for overwatch too.
Until I realised its as thin as Titanfall... and battlefront.. not acceptable from blizzard, and its time in developement.
The worst game modes from TF2 (Payload and defend) (e.g ... no tug of war game modes that actually give time to both teams to comeback from a 1 sided s*itfest) ..
No server browsers.
only small scale.
they havn't even planned out a ranking system yet
most of the maps are designed by old decisions and don't even make sense... look pretty, but functionally some of the worst maps in a shooter I have ever played.
The game is the Hearthstone of the FPS genre... oh sure, it'l be popular, but its a consolised shallow game that won't be touched by any non-blizzard-fan esports.
They dropped the ball big.
It's a shame, I was really hyped... but they dumbed down a shooter more than battlefront... how is that even possible...
EDIT - No PROPER scoreboard... because blizzard decided to become THAT company where you "can't hurt anyones feelings" ... no notifications abotu who kills who even, or proper location awareness.
6 months until release ... a comercial "beta-demo" ...
Yet another incomplete blizzard game.
@Cloud_imperium: Ironically I find Blizzard pretty overrated, sure they make some decent games but they aren't even in my top 5 fav devs. But hey I said one positive thing about them and I'm a Blizzard fanboy XD.
Meh, I remember you defending world of warcraft rabidly at one stage many moons ago, hence the fanboy part ;)
So, you may want to check the terms of service before sharing all your impressions. Just to be sure.
There is no NDA for the beta, you are free to stream and discuss about the game/beta for this weekend (they are even letting people have tournaments during the beta).
Ah. Good. :P
Meh, it is a cheap rip off of TF2 that doesn't appeal to me at all. There are too many cut corners as many have said. No server browser, not mods/plug-ins, poor map design, lack of customization (each TF2 character has half-a-dozen different load-outs at this point). Not to mention the egypt themed map looks like they straight up stole the egypt tileset from the Source engine and used it to build their map.
In terms of personal preference it just look lame, from the characters (the ridiculous anime girl and the rasta dude just being the biggest example of it), to the map design and weapons. The voices are super annoying - Tracer, Lucio, and the anime cliché being the most grating. There is so much about this game that just screams lazy cash grab. Not to mention they are going to start selling heroes after launch just like Evolve after you have already payed retail price for the game.

Eww what, I haven't enjoyed WoW since Wotlk and I'd rank FF14 ARR, Swtor, FF11, WAR and GW2 over WoW. The only Blizzard game I'll defend fantatically is Warcraft 3 (back when Blizzard didn't suck)
It's a Team Fortress imitation AKA Brink 2.0, it's going to peak and die.
Brink 2.0 is called Dirty Bomb and it's doing just fine.
I don't think you realise the reason Brink failed.
I know exactly why it failed, it had a lot of issues, however it was fixed relatively quickly and still fizzled out extremely hard.
Games like this will not get a foothold in the market, it's insanely hard to make a successful years long shooter, and it doesn't happen because it's forced, it's by chance and random community adoption.
Mark my words, this game will be a ghost town within a semester of its release.

Willing to take a bet on that?

Sure, what's your wager?

Fair enough.

So you actually don't know.
It didn't fail because it's one of the "games like this".
Brink is an online-only game that had broken online for weeks after release on all platforms.
Again, Dirty Bomb is basically proof you're wrong and that game was not handled too well either.
But it was fucking working from the start. And it stuck around for 2 years now.
You'd have to do better than bring up broken games to convince people that a ridiculously polished game will somehow fail the same way.
I like it enough, the heroes are all cool and stylish, it's got a great look, and the game feel is there overall. One of the broads uses rocket launchers it makes the arena shooter loving part of my heart sing, but some thing about the maps isn't working for me, and the objectives themselves in mp don't help matters either. Body guard a car? The ****.
It's a cool concept, I don't see me liking it anywhere near as much as Team Fortress 2, hell what little I played I would argue the game would struggle to stack up favorably to how well designed TF2 was from that 2008 to I want to say late 09 early 10 period? Before the hats stuff turned what I feel was a perfect multiplayer shooter, into a mostly excellent one still. That said cool game, not vanilla like every other MP game, so I'll give it a go when it comes out.
I want Blizzard to do new things, this is a new thing, I put my money where my mouth is on that stuff. I doubt the game will be poor, and the beta has me interested to play the proper game next year.
