1. Grand Theft Auto 3
2. Saints Row 2
3. Assassins Creed 2
That's it.

1. Red Dead Redemption
2. Assassin's Creed 2
3. Infamous
4. Prototype
5. Sly 2/Sly3/Batman Arkham Asylum if they count.
I dont like free roaming games very much, but I can put together 5 good ones:
1)TES: Daggerfall
2)Grand Theft Auto (aka GTA 1)
3) inFamous
4) Quarantinehttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4rK5iqJke8
5) Body Harvest
but as I said, I dont play much free roaming games and I generally dont enjoy them, so games like Oblivion etc. were plain boring for me. Those 5 were excellent though.
In no particular Order
1) Assassin's Creed II
2) Grand Theft Auto IV
3) Just Cause 2
4) Red Dead Redemption
5) Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
Honourable mentions go to GTA: Vice City and inFamous.
I'm not sure how to really define free-roam, but here it goes in no particular order:
That's if Zelda games aren't counted as free-roam.
1. GTA Vice City (PC)
2. GTA San Andreas (PC)
3. GTA2 (PC)
4. GTA (PC)
5. inFamous (PS3)
Too bad GTAIV was awful.
What's the difference between Free Roam, Open World, and Sandbox?
AmayaPapaya
Theoretically: free roam means you can freely move about the game world regardless of your current objective, so games like Zelda count. Open world means the majority of the game world is seamless with no transitions, like in GTA or Infamous. A sandbox game has no explicit objectives and you're just encouraged to play around with the tools you're given, like Garry's Mod.
But people are usually talking about open world games when they use any of them.
Anyway, mine are Morrowind, Oblivion, Infamous, GTA San Andreas, and...Assassin's Creed? I would say Borderlands, but that has separate areas.
