I used to LOVE the hell out of EGM and still think it is the best videogame mag out there. But I remember years ago (back in the MK2 days of arcades) when the magazine was like $6 (cad) and was like 400 pages of pictures and game news. Over the years the magazine kept getting smaller and smaller with less and less content other than reviews.
Can't say I'm too surprised. The quality of their magazine has been going down the drain for years, it's why I finally cancelled my subscription after 5 years. Oh, and I was buying EGM off the newstand since my high school days in the early 90s, so I'm familiar with their glory days as well. I just much prefer Game Informer these days. Also, what does any of this have to do with the Lair review.

They can review games however they want. It has nothing to do with their bankruptcy though.

There's no such thing as karma or bad luck. But you can have bad management, poor journalists, lack of good direction and lack of innovation in the product that will cause you to loose readers and ultimately, your company.

always? what are you? 12? EGM was THE source for gaming news before the internet caught on. Early thru late 90s, EGM was the standard, and they were very good at what they did.

These guys own 1up and Gametrailers also I belive. That's a bad deal Gametrailers is great.Firelore29
GameVideos. And don't worry, those entities are safe, I'm sure. 1up is one of the most successful video game websites and is one of the few bright spots in the Ziff Davis holdings.
EGM may go under, but 1up will live on. I'm certain of that.
On a related note, I'm really glad now I got my EGM subscription for free.
Well, things happen man. Who knows, but I know this, Gameinformer is better than EGM. I still regret the day I brought the 24 subscription from, them. :(

I totally agree with you. I loved EGM and I also thought it was the best videogame magazine out there. I started reading it since the early 90's, it was so thick and full of info and game coverage, there was simply no mag like it in Europe.
I stopped reading it along with all the other videogame mags when I finally got internet at home, so I really don't know if they fell so much like people make it look like.
Only in a parallel universe would a company that deserves it-like Nintendo- go bankrupt. It's alright though, as Game Informer has been better for a while now.
