I find it hilarious that with Twilight Princess was criticized for being just a rehash or too similar to OoT. Yet when Wind Waker came out it was criticized for being too different and Un-Zelda like. Seems most people just can't find a happy medium. Now that Miyamoto is radically changing Zelda's formula from here on in. It will be interesting to see how fans will percieve the changes.

I'll be honest: I actually had trouble getting into WW. Not "OMG teh kiddy!! Teh grafx!! Teh cel-shaded!" but because I just got so bored going through that pirate hideout that early on I gave up on the game. I hope to go back to it later this year and give it another shot. I have full confidence in Miyamoto's overhaul though.

Last time I checked Wind Waker got GotY and TP got an 8.8.  Looks like Jeff clearly appreciated the change.

yeah, I heard the next game is going to be a big departure. They've been working on it for over a year already, so if Nintendo wasn't so damn secretive, we might actually have some beta screen shots or at least some concept art. I can't wait to see something (Nintendo won't show anything until after the next holiday season), but yeah with a series that has been so popular for 20 years, any departures will get people riled up. I have a feeling that the changes are going to go beyond the visuals though, I have a feeling there will be some serious changes to the gameplay mechanics and I think that is going to cause some outcry from the diehard fans. Regardless, Myamoto is a genius so whatever he does, it'll probably be good.

Wind Waker was awesome though even if I didn't like its art style. TP just sucked. The worst zelda game in the series by nintendo.

Agreed, Miyamoto has stated the entire Zelda formula will be different this time around. But just how different I wonder? No green tunic? No Zelda chime?

I think the changes are going to way bigger then that. I think there will be changes made to the actual gameplay mechanics, perhaps pushing it to be more classified as an Action-RPG instead of an Action-Adventure. Maybe a leveling up system? Maybe a form of magic? Maybe the setting will be different? Instead of the classical-fantasy setting it'll be more of a technology-fantasy setting ala Final Fantasy 7? Maybe he'll put more reliance on stealth in the game? The possibilities are endless, but I really think some of the changes are going to be pretty shocking.

The dumbest thing is that Wind Waker is hardly differs from the formula any more than Twilight Princess.

Change is good... Zelda games are too formulaic. With TP, people saw that the formula was getting old. Sure, TP did lots of new things (Wolf, Horseback battles, Jousting, etc.) I think that the whole dungeon concept will be the thing to change. Ever since OoT, we've seen the same dungeon ideas over and over again. If there's anything that's gonna change, I bet that dungeons will be much different... And that's a good thing.

Yeah, good prediction, I'm almost positive the dungeons are definitely going to get over-hauled.

I disagree they made the game worse. I really enjoyed Majoras Mask and thought while a big departure from the norm was amazing in it's own right. Amazzing really that they made the game in such a short time

Change is good. So is staying to basics. So before you whine about duengons being done to death, think about it: Zelda games are-at its core-duengon games. You go into a duengon and kill stuff, get items, destroy the boss. That's Zelda at it's core. It's a simple idea. That's Zelda. That's what it is.

The main probelms with TP for me,was that the storyline suck'ed and becuase nintendo folded into the cries of the zelda fanboys who wanted a OoT:2 nintendo basicaly went backwards when they made TP creating a unoriginal experience, so i am all up for change
