It was too good to pass up.

I've actually played it, smart guy.

This is so saddening. I was super excited for Brutal Legend. I figured it could easily be GOTY. My online preorder was somehow lost, and initially I was disappointed but now I feel that it's a blessing in disguise. Too bad. Jack and Tim are both awesome. Hahadouken

Sure doesn't sound like it. And I am super intelligent. Thanks for the compliment, my friend. :)

Well, it wasnt funny at all, it was all ranting. Some mood music like his first reviews might have done it better, oh wait?

MY, yes MY online preorder was lost. However, everyone here in the office got their copy. A lot of my friends love it. I played the demo on my Playstation and the retail game on my co-workers 360. I can't comment on being personally disappointed in the game, so I didn't.

What saddens me is the reaction the game is getting. Fans like subrosian were waiting for ages for this game, and they are disappointed. I didn't mention a word about review scores, you were just so eager to "get me back" for busting you with your own set of standards that you assumed this was good enough.

You're trying way too hard to discredit me. Don't be mad.

The whole thing was a big sandbox whine...

*sigh*

BioShockOwnz

No it wasn't, he also didn't like the gameplay and the shallow RTS elements.

Sandbox is the best genre i think, when done correctly. Brutal Legend pulled off it's sanbox poorly.

Uh huh, a "co-workers" 360. I'm sorry, I want to believe you, but I've heard similar lines like that before, and you also talk like you haven't played it. No offense, I just can't believe it.

The reaction the game is getting? It's getting 80+ scores on average. :| And I'm a fan. I waited ages. And I wasn't disappointed. But instead of putting stock in either me or subrosian, why not put stock in the overall average amongst gamers and reviewers, which is 80+ across the board? That sounds like the more common sense approach to me.

And I didn't try hard. It was very simple. No one wants to cross me when I try hard. :)

He's completely right about the game. I have to laugh at the Tim Schaffer elitists getting all /rage mode over Yahtzee telling it how it is.

The majority of critics actually say he's completely wrong about the game. I'd put more bank into critics with credibility.

I'm right about this and that's that. Brutal Legend haters going into rage mode is quite telling how no one agrees with them or their beloved Yahtzee.

He made some good points. I found the game average myself.

Majority of the critics with most games say he is completely wrong. He points out the flaws in games, and generally most reviewers stick to the positives. I'm no Brutal Legend hater ;)

Yeah, like I said, I'll stick to the majority of credible critics, not a dude who gets paid to bash peoples hard work.

And reviewers stick to positives? I guess that's why I've seen many real bad games get 3-5's all the time. If a game is bad, then it's beaten to death for it.

Sure, and I secretly love everything I talk down on.

Yahtzee will rip U2 apart whether or not he truly enjoyed it. It is ripe for being picked apart since it's linear, there are suspension of disbelief obstacles at every corner, etc. Even if he truly likes the game it will be too easy to run through the wringer for him to pass it up. Hahadouken
I don't think so. He's lately been criticizing games for the sandbox elements that are thrown in. If he reviews U2, it won't be for linearity. No siree.

It's unfortunate, but Yahtzee is 100% correct. I'm in the same boat as Yahtzee, if anyone had said they weren't buying a previous Tim Schafer title, I would buy it for them. They're that good, there's no excuse for having missed any of them. However Brutal Legend is just bad. You have to force yourself to play it, because its core pseudo-RTS gameplay is dull.

Uncharted 2 has flaws, but its at least tightly woven. Too many games these days have sandbox without actually putting toys in the sandbox. Or worse, instead of making the toys accessible, and explaining what they do, it buries them in the sand, and expects you to spend hours digging them up. Oh sure, you can skip those sections, but then those toys might as well not be there - in which case you simply have a short, dull game.

My only real problem with Brutal Legend is that it was over so quick. the game changed gears really quick at different points and suddenly it was all over... :(
