WOW, yatzee picking up on a JRPG and a extremely unique one at that.
albeit imho it plays as just another action game with extremely well done hit/weapon detection
For someone who almost exclusively played WoW since its release, Demon's Souls was not hard at all and there are a ton of similaritys beyond the surface.
If any non DS owners are wonder how far he got before the game frustrated him off
He just beat the introduction level (1 section out of 21) this takes 1-2 hours for first timers.
After that he managed to get very close to the boss area of a 2nd section but the guards there are very tough for someone who just came from the intro level and the boss even more so.
yeah, definitely i'm actually surprised he got through the dragon section. i got way irritated and just bought tons of arrows and took the dragon outIf any non DS owners are wonder how far he got before the game frustrated him off

DS is great..but it's pretty much just king's field in 3rd person and HD.

It took me about 300 arrows lol.zero_snake99The first time, I wasted about 150 arrows. The second time (which was just more arrows and aiming differently, it only took like 90... I found one of the openings gave me a more consistent hit. And you had to time it right of course.

It takes about 150 arrows to kill the red dragon with a compound long bow +3 or a sticky +4, assuming first playthrough and you're hitting it every time it makes a pass.
[QUOTE="hot114"]yeah, definitely i'm actually surprised he got through the dragon section. i got way irritated and just bought tons of arrows and took the dragon out Aslong as you DONT go downstairs you can just run straight to the boss (dont have to clear the upper towers and imo never found a use for killing them other than killing the optional dragon) The archers cant shoot you as you cross the bridge so i always wondered why they even had them there. If any non DS owners are wonder how far he got before the game frustrated him off

Hmm odd, as a STR based char that started as royal also using the white bow it only took 130 arrows - i dont think it should ever cost 300 arrows unless you are missing half of them lol - The blue dragon in 1-3 did take around 300 arrows using the same setup so maybe you are confusing them?Man, your characters must have used the bow more often. I didn't use the bow until halfway through the game =Pzero_snake99bow is great
huh, i knew you could move faster/roll better when your equip weight was under 50%. Didn't know there were further modifiers. Also you run significantly faster while below 25% weight, giving alot more slack on timing the dragon breaths Just make sure you're character can chainroll to comfirm its below 25% just figured i'd throw that in while were ontopic

I couldn't keep my equip burden below 50% (unless I go naked), let alone 25%.:(
I just kept upping my... what was it, str or constitution or whatever that upped equip allowance, then wore that giant ring or whatever. I was able to have my shield/sword and full body armor and be under 50%I couldn't keep my equip burden below 50% (unless I go naked), let alone 25%.:(

I was able to have my shield/sword and full body armor and be under 50% Endurance controls equipped weight - (STR only controls your inventory weight) It is highly recomended to get endurance to 40 as early as possible as that also hard caps your stamina bar wich makes blocking attacks and attack flurrys much much easier. Before i learned how helpful it was to raise endurance i completed 2 playthroughs virtually naked as the ability to chainroll is the best deffence you can have in the game And thats coming from someone with a +5 tower shield :PI couldn't keep my equip burden below 50% (unless I go naked), let alone 25%.:(

I had to pause as life happened and I had to go get married and stuff >_> Edit: No, this doesn't mean I got anyone pregnant  It just means my wife and I are pretty spontaneous and decided to go to Hawaii and get married... a month before we got married.

END. There's no point of increasing it past 40 though since your stamina becomes maxed at 160 and all you're getting out of the stat is defense (which all stats give), resistance (useless imo), and the aformentioned equip burden.
I guess the ring would have put me under 50%, but I stuck with thief's ring/cling ring combo for the most part, with the occasional clever rat's ring for black phantoms and herculean strength to pick up extra goodies.
His review was funny, but really, unless you are some kinda gaming noob, It's not THAT hard of a game. Unforgiving of stupidity, maybe, but it's not like you just instantly die for no reason. At least, not in the stage and a half that he played before calling it quits. I've not finished it, by any means (killed Phalanx, Tower Knight, Armor Spider, Flamelurker, and Adjucator on a rental, the rest have to wait till i open my Christmas gifts), but so far it's one of my top games this gen.

I prefer my +10 PFS(overused I know) or +5 Dark silver shield.
Since I play mostly in offline mode chain rolling wasn't as important to me.

wow I laughed so hard...
especially at the "dodge" comment
lol world 1-2 then he gave up... >.>
I wish I could see the expression on his face when he encounters the tower knight and has to restart the level from scratch just to reach it again. :P
Nice, he stopped playing where I stopped playing, didn't really feel like playing the game and stopped at the same spot after making the exact same mistakes he did. :P
Terrible review. He dose not mention Blue or Black Phantoms for a start. Blue Phantoms are other players you can summon to HELP you through a level or protect you from, Black Phantoms who are players who have invaded your current world with the intention of killing you. What a Numpty.
Not only that you can regain your life bar by not only defeating bosses but by also using Stone of Epheral eyes < Spelling.

he obviously didn't get that far in the game Perhaps. I guess his reviews are not something to take to heart and he is far from professional none the less i didnt find this one funny either. Although i do like his humour usually! Maybe its the Ten Hour damn shift i just did talking.Yeah lol.. I tried playing demons souls.. But when a game is hard to the point where it isn't fun is where I stop playing. I mean it wasn't like hard to where I felt it was still fair it felt really cheap like I had no chance and that its going to kill me regardless so that I know where that enemy who killed me was so I hopefully might avoid it the second time only to be killed 2 seconds after I make it past him.

PAUSE?!?! WHAT KINDA F ARE YOU? best line in the review.Human-after-allThis. I was rolling at this review. His best in a while.
The first playthrough can be frustrating for some, for example, I played the first time offline so I didn't get any hints and actually thought that I had to kill that red knight in 1-1. You can only guess what happened to me. After beating the game and then NG+, i decided to make another character and start again, I faced the red knight again with a soul level 4 and was able to kill him easier than I thought. So yea, after 1 or 2 playthroughs the game gets very easy.
