If i remember, Yahtzee said Resistance 3 has one of the best FPS campaigns everMuayThaiFTW

He didn't. As a longtime viewer, I know he never said R3 has "one of the best FPS campaigns ever". He would never say that bold of a statement unless he was being a cheeky bastard. What he did say was that the weapons were fun to use, and the shooting was reminiscent of old school shooters (heavy emphasis on reappearance of honest-to-God healthpacks). He recommended the R3 campaign, but his criteria is very specific. Yahtzee loves oldschool like Painkiller.

I didn't get "best FPS campaign ever" from that review at all. If anything it was mild praise, which is Yahtzee is known for from time to time. I've not played R3, but reviews seem to settle on it being an all right game. I'll state again, he would never give a legitimately bad game a good review.

Thats right, my bad. And true, he liked Resistance 3, and he did give the game more praise, whether mild or not, then any recent FPS he's spoken about from my memory lol. And that says something according to you. But regardless of Yahtzee praising it, Resistance 3 was a great game in my opinion

Funny video, and he is right on a lof of things, why won't they touch on why enemies don't care the world is ending around them? Why is Drake so obsessed with treasure hunting? Why do they constantly have to make things break when Drake touches them? Why do you die so easily in the running set pieces? They need to make these things clear and improve some gameplay elements in the next game.

I agree wholeheartedly with pretty much everything he said. The game is an 8.5 for me, which is still a fantastic score, but its becoming far too formulaic. The highlight of the series (or at the time, singular game) was its characters, now it seems to be set-pieces, and that's disappointing to me -- I still feel as though the original is the best game in the series.

I missed that comment. That was funny .

In all fairness, his opinion was not all he said. He pointed out a number of hard to ignore flaws. But how much they matter in the total experience are his opinion. They aren't fact. Probably just some unfortunate phrasing issues on part of that poster, lol.

Yes lol. That made me look bad haha

Can't stand his reviews anymore.. he just looks to find every flaw he can in order to make himself enjoy the game less. Honestly, I don't know why he even plays video games since the vast majority of them just cause him to be upset.

lol my bad i was wrong. And i agree with you, just exactly like how people who haven't even played U3 come on the internet and thrash Uncharted 3 to say it was disappointing and not worth the massive critical acclaim that its recieved, and then you have some others who haven't even played it parroting what they said. There is litetally like a propoganda campaign against Uncharted 3 on youtube videos, but people who have actually played the game know they're full of ****. I'm 100% positive its xbots and die hard crazed 360 fanboys. And then also how lemmings used false Skyrim comparison pics to start spreading misinformation about Skyrim on 360 being vastly superior to the PS3 version when its clearly not. Get this, lemmings were using 360 pics against the 360 debug pics instead of against the actual PS3 version. All Despicable IMO

It pretty much is haha :) Uncharted 1 & 2 had similar stories and kind of followed the same patterns. But now Uncharted 3 takes the story to a place you would not expect and also its more about Drake and developes him more as a character then any other previous Uncharted game has. You should try and avoid all spoilers until you play it.

[QUOTE="skrat_01"]There's some good criticism there. I haven't played the third, but if there's still that disconnect between character and mechanics that was in the second and first (Drake the apparent loveable rogue who solves every problem by shooting all the men, in the head, with the gun like a brute no different to Marcus Phoenix), as Yahtzee seems to be pointing out, then I'm going to be a bit disappointed.

Oh trust me, the flaws are even worse in Uncharted 3.

I agree with everything in that review. I was asking myself the same questions while playing. "Why do these guys not get the hell out of here, why are they still trying to kill me and not running for their lives?" I still had lots of fun though.

do people really take what this guy say seriously?-10 for humanity.

I mean where do I begin with this guy?

he is not supposed to be taken seriously or...maybe he is now ?

if people wants to take his not so serious reviews so serious then I have to say how ironic of him to talk about repetition and stale around U3 when his own show became boring from the first few episodes and very predictible, the show basucally is about someone who wants to be funny reviewing only popular games by talking fast without any punctuation whatsoever hence the zero punctuation while presenting whats supposed to be funny images in a yellow background coupled with funny liners ( not all of them are funny ) but the problem is he is not meant to be taken seriously to be judged by his boring show so which way we should approach him?

serious thought though, I see people opening dedicated threads everytime the guy rants about a game, whats so interesting about the show? I thought it's boring.

even his trolling technique is weak.

It's satire. Satire is usually biting humour that comes from exposing flaws of particular places, people, objects whatever. Similar to the Simpsons, where you laugh at its stupidity, but admit its uncanny resemblance to the reality of the situation.

His reviews are hilarious, I love how he rips on games with legit criticisms that most devs gloss over. Don't get me wrong, I love uncharted 2 and I think it is absolutely fantastic, but maily because it is so much fun and has cool set pieces. The uncharted stories are no better than MW2, yet reviewers seem to love their stories for some reason. However, I really do appreciate the quality of the voice acting. If only the writing were as good as the acting. Also Drake isn't that great of a character. I think Elena is great though.

I really think the best ps3 exclusive is infamous, now that is one of the best games this gen.

but the problem is he is not meant to be taken seriously to be judged by his boring show so which way we should approach him?

FrozenLiquid

It's satire. Satire is usually biting humour that comes from exposing flaws of particular places, people, objects whatever. Similar to the Simpsons, where you laugh at its stupidity, but admit its uncanny resemblance to the reality of the situation.

I don't watch the Simpsons though because I find it also boring, not a great example heheh but I get what you mean.

Still my point is very valid, I see people taking his reviews very serious, I facepalm at the thought of a person taking my joke seriously, it's meant to be a joke there is no point to debate whether it's true or not.

I mean if I see a fat person and say he looks like a farting whale, picture a person approaching me, lets say my friend comes to me and say "hey bro I really think he looks like a whale and a farting one too you are very right, you are a very intelligent human being, how did you figure that out?"

Yahntzee tends to be much more honest about the inherent flaws in games than most other proffesional reviews alot of those criticisms ( of uncharted 3) and many of the othe games are actually spot on. I prefer him to 90% of the other reivewers out their I dont always agree with him but at least he is honest and holds no punches

i agree with him, He overemphasis the critical part like always, but Uncharted 3, while having amazing set-pieces and being fun to play, has a joke of a plot and story elements. And I like how randomly in this game, 3 NPC asks him why he feels the need to risk his life for treasure...ok , i guess his exploit first 2 games weren't dangerous enough to ask that huh? oh, and at least he doesn't mention its joke of a multiplayer

I'm surprised a lot of people here are taking Yahtzee seriesly... He does this with a lot games especially with the big hitters in a humorous way.

Two things you've done wrong:

1) You don't like the Simpsons. You lose humanity points. If you like Family Guy, you do a 5x multiplier humanity loss.

2) Your point is still invalid, because you fail to understand what satire is. It is humour embedded heavily in reality. So while satire is funny and sometimes overwrought, it is also an honest, if usually cynical, observation.

I don't think satire is your type of thing, though. If you don't like the Simpsons, and don't understand Yahtzee, and gave an example which isn't satirical, then yeah...

Don't worry. Satire isn't essential to being a fine human being.

The Simpsons is though!

what if I don't watch family guy too? how many humanity points Im going to lose O_o

I do watch both randomly sometimes and I find humor in them, I find some funny stuff in the zero puncuation too like the racist s*** in the start of the U3 review.

maybe yes it's true, maybe satire is not my cup of tea which sucks, I do like lots of other stuff like cleaning the floor of my room, it's a quality and f***** up thing to be a janitor no offense to janitors around the world.

 I agree with everything he said. The game is superbly made, content rich, and an overall better product than Among Thieves, I think. Drake's Deception just didn't provide that groundbreaking sense of adventure that Uncharted 2 did (for me).

As far as reusing the same formula, he's right. 90% of sequels do it. Zelda, Uncharted, Gears and Halo do it. But at the same time these big sequels add enough content and improvements to back it up. If you've played Uncharted 3, you can't say it was predictable (no, a ledge breaking apart doesn't count). Throughout the game, you are tossedinto new and creative scenarios that throw you for a loop. New, area-specific gameplay mechanics are introduced as you play (spoilers if I reveal them). The level design is set up wonderfully for you to get creative with the various gameplay mechanics (the water section is a major highlight, just amazing).

Story is much better than previous games. Anyone who thinks otherwise, just hush :P. Uncharted 1 & 2 didn't have amazing stories. The characters, dialogue, and storytelling were great. In Drake's Deception, more was done than what was presented in 1 & 2 .

MP is the biggest improvement.

Oh hell no!

While Uncharted 2 wasn't my favourite game this gen (it just loses to Assassin's Creed 2/Brotherhood), I could argue that it probably is the single greatest game of the generation.

As Yahtzee said, Uncharted 3 is simply a retread of Uncharted 2. And to elaborate on what he said, I'd say it's worse. Every character in Uncharted 2 naturally slid into place in the story, and each actually helped characterize Nate better. In Uncharted 3 *SPOILERS* Chloe and Cutter are used then discarded before even the halfway point in Uncharted 3. Then Elena is shoehorned in, in the most unspectacular fashion. Everyone had pathetic characterization, from Elena's you're-a-liar-but-let-me-get-my-shotgun-out-for-you to Sully's lets-quit-now-drake-no?-ok-i'm-with-you-til-my-dying-breath. And what happens in ANOTHER lost city is pretty much exactly the same as what happened in Shangri-La *END SPOILERS*.Oh yeah, how about the hour or so spent in the shipyard which went absolutely NOWHERE.

And don't get me started on Nate's motive. In Uncharted 2, everyone was pulled into a life and death situation., and had to act fast to save the world. In Uncharted 3, Nate's stubborness and recklessness put everyone in danger. The whole world-threatening plot could have been prevented if Nate just said "okay guys, let's not do this".

Then there's the gameplay. Too many guns being fired at the same time does not make it more intense. The A.I wasn't even improved (did they dumb it down?), and Nate's superman killing spree just got even more ridiculous.

Yahtzee actually didn't say the game is better than Uncharted 2. He said it was fun, but the series is already past its prime. I agree wholeheartedly.

By the way, I have the better opinion because I had the privilege to play Uncharted 3 on a massive cinema screen because that's how I roll these days :D.

Oh yeah, where did Chloe's back go? I miss that arse.

So because you don't like it then you have to brand people and make them feel bad by saying they lose :humanity points"? If someone likes it then let them. Don't judge them or ridicule them because you hate it
