For those who have a serious gaming history behind them, I thought I'd offer up this nostalgic topic, specifically to look fondly back at games long gone.  Share your classic old favorite with us.

.

.

.

Mine's easy.  Desert Strike and Jungle Strike on Mega Drive (Genesis).  If I'd spent as much time doing homework as I did playing these two games I'd probably be some successful jerk in a suit by now, he he.

Super Breakout for the 2600. Hell, just about any game with the paddle is great, but that one stands the test of time in my book.

The first game system I owned was the Atari 7800.  My favorite games were Crossbow, Dark Chambers and Desert Falcon.  Then I finally got a NES and I was blown away by the depth in Ultima: Exodus.

PacMan... no, not the good arcade or Colecovision one... the Atari 2600 version with the screwed up map, aound... hell, everything. BUT, it's still my favorite Atari game. Actually, playing that game is my first memory I have, back when I was like 3 years old. Good times.

I spent hours with Beanie Bopper for the 2600. Don't ask me why. I was maybe 4 or 5.

My hubby downloaded some old school games via the Wii and he's been having fun with those. :) I used to LOVE "Adventure" on the old Atari. I cried and cried and never got it (we were poor at the time), but a friend down the street played it (and would never let me play) but I got to watch. I have it now tho'. :)

I still remember Super Mario Bros and Zelda on NES, I've beat them numerous times. That was the first time I fell in love with video games. 21 years later, I'm sitting at a computer learning to make games...

Hero's Quest (ega version of quest for glory) was my fav for a long time. Starcontrol and Starcontrol 2 consumed my life and are still fun to play today. Zelda and Contra are my fondest memories of NES.

honorable mention to Dune2 (rts starter), and doom.

We had a Commodore 64 in the very beginning, and I remember some kind of obnoxious math game my parents wanted us to play. Some kind of awful fraction game with a pogo stick...

Instead though, we played text-based adventure games like Wumpus Hunter, or Pirate Adventure. I still remember a classic moment in Pirate Adventure - the whole game we'd been denied access a certain area because of this snake that would kill you if you got too close. Then, after days of playing, somewhere else on the island we find a mongoose. My brother and I had to go and look up in our Encyclopedia what the heck a mongoose even was, but when we found out they fight snakes, we RAN back to the computer to try it out. Stupid game! After you take the mongoose over to the snake, the snake kills it, and the game says "Oh, I guess it was just a squirrel, after all..." I think you ended up killing the snake with something stupid like a parrot instead...

Sheesh - I remember playing pong for hours on my TRS-80 back in the early 80s (yes, I could be a grandpa but I'm not) ... I didn't really become addicted to a game though until I played 'Zork' and then 'Hitchikers Guide to the Galaxy' and other infocom games.  My next immersion into gaming came with Descent, Duke Nukem and MechWarrioir.  I was always more of a PC gamer.  Never was much of a console player until the Dreamcast came out.

did you play mechwarrior when it was the old pc 16 color or so game? it was actually the thing that got me into the mechwarrior games. Later on i was always cheap and put my weapons on my feet since if they go i'm dead anyway :) arms were for heatsinks and other stuff.

I used to play Sonic on my friend's genesis, but my own gaming usually consisted of the apogee shareware classics, like Biomenace. They don't make platformers like they used to. ;)
