I confess that my uncle's dog just died yesterday and that right now it feels like I've just gotten more depressed, more than ever before. GameSpot needs to look at TV.com as an example of what NOT to do. But if the design does end up bad for the long term of this site, it would at least be fitting that it would happen in the same month if it started in September.Â

It actually doesn't surprise me GS is turning out like this, I mean, your first clue is that both TV.com and GS are owned by the same company (CBS Interactive.) I think the problem lies with this company being in charge.
For memories sake, I should post a screenshot or something of what TV.com and GS looked like in 2005 when I first registered. I'd have to go to the Internet Archive to do that.

Scratch that, I'll be returning to my pre-2012 activity when the redesign comes. I'll probably still post more than I did back then and not take as long of breaks. But I probably won't be a site regular.
