The ironic thing is that if Global Warming gets bad enough, they reckon it will trigger a Nuclear Winter essentailly plunging the world into another Ice Age

So yeah we should sort out Global Warming else a good chunk of the Human Race will die sometime in the future, a many other animal and plant life for that matter

What I have noticed (In my neighborhood) is everything seems 2-3 months behind. We had no snow until January, and now it's snowing all the time.

in to serious business yeah it is preoccupying. I saw a documents on national geographic channel about what would happen if the temperatures raised 6ºC it was scary, I guess that is responsibility of the forming engineers (I'm in that group) to fix it

well i guess we should just move to mars or something right for a few decades so the atmosphere can purge itself right? honestly, if global warming stats are true then it would be a near impossible brick wall for the ppl on this planet to surmount.

industrialism is such a rooted part of developed nations, and since they are the cause (lets be frank, global warming is a artificial effect, dont give me any of the cow methane gas BS) then its very difficult. its like asking every factory, every car and machine or w/e to stop being used, and everyone should go back to using use sewing looms, bikes and start cultivating their own little garden in their backyard for produce.

reversing the issue of global warming while i agree should be done. lately i have my doubts anything can be done, ppl just wont realize it and try to do anything to help prevent it. i try to go green, but its tough i admit. well ill be taking a stop at the seed vault in some Norwegian ice hunk on my way off this planet before it blows up.

my take is that global warming exists, but I fail to believe that it is happening at the spees that Al Gore says it is. I think it will take quite a while before it becomes serious enough to cause major problems.

hopefully we all run out of fossil fuels before it gets serious ;)

I live in a country that have petrol and where I study we agree that we have to change the petrol as fundamental energy source. Also it is true that it has to be a global effort if not it will be only a country spending thousands of dollars doing nothing

yup, without international cooperation nothing will get done concerning global warming. lets say USA poured everything it had into preventing global warming, one country would not do that much, maybe it could make a small dent, but still very little progress.

Well the best example I can give is that last winter, the 1st snowdrop was on the 26th of December and maybe we had 60 inches of snow all winter long...This year, the 1st snowdrop was somewhere in late October and some places in Canada already reached 13 feet of snow so far...And it's still going..No joke!

I can't stop thinking about why did I have to be born when global warming is starting to violently eat the earth. But then again there used to be worse wars like world war 2 and there was no electronic entertainmen at times. Hmmmm... but i would like to have nice winters here in New England when it doesn't get into the 50s ever week and melt the already decreasing amount of snow we get! whateva. actually not whateva cause this is serious!

President George (aka Monkey Face) Bush: I think that the enviroment...(long pause) has to be worked with. We have to stop those terrorists from ...ummm...polluting. So, whateva to universal cooling or something like dat. God bless me and America!

Exactly, wat did he say? Well thats how I feel everytime he says something. REAL BUSH QUOTE "Is our children learning" If you are a Republican who supports Bush I'm sorry I posted this and believes he does nothing to stop global warming and frankly looks like a confused monkey. Peace.

No there's enough resourcess to replace the need for energy, the only problem is that there's no money in it, so it's gonna be oil 'till it's gone, but we can easily replace it with Wind/Water energy solutions.

Yes they really are , hydrogen is that that can easily replace it , but it's a little instable , another very very powerfull resource is antimatter .... like 10g of water and 10g of antiwater anihilated can reproduce the same energy that 10.000.000.000 of burning petrol barrols do TOGHETER....but it's difficult to create , but has been created...

I remember 1 episode of Mythbusters when they tried to make an hydrogen hybrid motor for a car...They failed but only because their design were flawed...Then they tried to pour the hydrogen directly from the tank into the carburetor and the car started up normaly..Even more crazy, when they did the test with cooking oil on a diesel engine, the cooking oil turned out to be only 10% less efficient than real diesel and no modifications were made to either the oil or the engine..

The biggest limiting factor in the production of antimatter is the availability of antiprotons. Recent data released by CERN states that when fully operational their facilities are capable of producing 107 antiprotons per second. Assuming an optimal conversion of antiprotons to antihydrogen, it would take two billion years to produce 1 gram of antihydrogen (approximately 6.02×1023 atoms of antihydrogen.) Another limiting factor to antimatter production is storage. As stated above there is no known way to effectively store antihydrogen. The ATHENA project has managed to keep antihydrogen atoms from annihilation for tens of seconds — just enough time to briefly study their behaviour.

CERN laboratories, which produces antimatter on a regular basis, said:

" If we could assemble all of the antimatter we've ever made at CERN and annihilate it with matter, we would have enough energy to light a single electric light bulb for a few minutes ''.

[QUOTE="Regor23"]I heard about that..But right now, with todays technologie, it would take about 2 billion years to produce 1g of antihydrogen...Ietam_Revan

Man just thinking about it makes my mind go crazy :? That long to make that? Man...

It doesn't really takes that much u know :lol....
but now let's stick on the topic ....
I saw this once on discovery ....a new resorce that replaces gas for the cars made out of a plant that I don't know it's name in english ....

Lol leave me alone!!! :P

Yeah that could help the world and economy if we ever run out of oil, which is possible in the near future...I just hope they produce it well enough before the world runs out of oil...

ok i have no idea what regor einstein is talking about this antihydrogen CERN stuff, but more common and simpler alternative energy sources have they're ups and downs. in the short term spectrum its worse for the environment to switch to solar, wind power, installation and resources for the componenets is costly, but over time it will be much more beneficial fo the environment. also long term solutions like these are thrown away, ppl just want a quick fix to the problem with no investment.

Man now this is making me think if the world will find a method that would replace oil and would be just as good or maybe even better. Then hopefully it would be less polluted and everything....lol maybe i'm just wishing for that

There's so many methods but they will find an efficient one ah well, and that antihydrogen stuff is pretty interesting...

Yes it is...Fact, it occurs naturaly all around the univers, specialy where there's massive energy colliding like in the center of galaxies but it also happen when Gamma rays (for example) enters our atmosphere, only it disintegrate the moment it collide with matter (it would continue if it collided with other antimatters)..Ahh, the world of science:P

It's in everybody, either sleeping or awake, we all wanna know where we come from and where we're going, outside the box:)
