sounds like how the UK votes.We have a multiparty belief and it's representational democracy.
Federal Election Process:
1) You vote for a party member (ex: Conservative, Liberal, NDP, Green, Bloc Quebecois and maybe other less popular party that no one cares)
2) The winner of the election becomes the Prime Minster. How do you win? Your party must have more party member elected.
That's it! You vote once!
In other words, Canadians vote for their local Member of Parliament (MP), who sits in the House of Commons. Canadians do not vote directly for the Prime Minister, nor do they vote for senators.
We are having an election right now. Parliament was dissolved on Sept 7 and we vote on October 14.
