I'm not a huge fan of the gameplay, I've never been too fond of God of War style action, but I played the game because it was castlevania, and really enjoyed the story. The ending blew me away, but the possibilities are now pretty endless.
What I like is that they didn't completely destroy the original story line. Some parts may have to be altered to better fit the story, due to Leon's story, but thats really the only part of the entire series that has some slight changes.Â
The only thing I hated, and I mean hated, was the music. Throw away the classic sound track add lord of the rings bull ****. I feel like the entire experience would have been way better with some of my favorites thrown in. The sequel better have some of the classic Castlevania music because the new music was bland and forgettable to say the least.Â

Couldn't agree more.
The music was atrocious, for a series that was made famous partly down to always having amazing soundtracks, it really didn't deliver at all! I ended up just putting a bunch of my Castlevania favorites onto a memory stick, plugging that into the 360 and having them play during the rest of the game because the music was infuriating me.
As for the rest of the game... Well... Where do I begin?
I personally loved the general artistic style of the game but that was all I enjoyed... The enemies all took like a billion hits to destroy and it felt like a chore to get rid of them, rather than it being an enjoyable task like it used to be in the series, it seemed like they were just there to piss you off rather than to add to any challenge. The lack of camera control was a bit of a nuisance but was made even more annoying with the lack of having a stage map, getting lost was almost enraging and I kept wishing that a map would pop up and save me. The puzzles were all far too easy, even of the more dificult settings.
My biggest argument aside from the soundtrack was the conclusion after the credits rolled, I won't say anything about what it actually is for those who haven't beaten the game yet. While it was an epic twist and enjoyable to watch, it was pretty much just a big bird being flipped at the original canon, a canon that had being built for 24 years not even being taken into consideration as Kojima and Cox just Spat on Iga and his predecessor's hard work. I'm aware this game isn't supposed to be part of the canon but they could have at least respected the timeline that had been building up for 24 years and the fans that have followed it dearly, it was rediculous and after I was done with the "Wow! o.o" I went into a fit of rage!
