Critics of Hollywood....

so i watched 300 today... OMG!!! great movie..nice touch of gore :Dchang_1910

haha, cool. yeah, i saw 300 on saturday... i can agree to that. i heard it was pretty gorey and 'ultra-stylized' so i was alittle worried there would be no substance to the film. but it really was very good. awesome action and great story to support it. of course im sure the actual battle happened almost nothing like that... but thats hollywood for you. and all the people in the movie saying things like 'this is our time in history!' or whatever... lol. no one really talks like that. becuase you would never be able to tell then, what people will remember from the past now... so it was a tiny bit corney to hear people say things like that... as if knowing for sure they would be remembered like they are now... and have a film made about them. i cant fault it for that though. it was just too cool 8)

I agree with both of you. The movie 300, was indeed an awesome film full of non-stop, gory action. 8)

BUT ! it kinda left it at a cliff hanger....at the end where the whole army of spartans went up aganst the rest of the persian army.. the film could of at least went on a little longer to see who the true victors were... I saw 300 as soon as it was released in theatres in Canada,and I was not once disappointed.I kinda knew Leonidas would die and his wife would cheat on him out of desparation for his life,but I hoped he wouldn't.Other than that,300 is the best movie I've seen in a very long time!!! :D

TMNT= Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,and I will not be watching that movie.Spiderman 3 looks good,but just as ruined as Resident Evil movies are.

I guess we'll see about that later. :wink:

my friend showed me a trailer for grindhouse like... a long long time ago. over a year. and its finally coming out now. looks like one of those totally over the top action gorey things. i dunno if i want to see it...

but then again, thats what i first thought about sin city. but i liked it a lot. ill probably wait for reviews on this first though

I think Grindhouse is like Sin City,but without the Comic Book effect while you're watching it.

I probably won't watch it till it comes out on DVD,though.

yeap... a great comics movie, even thus for me the most incredible movie out of comics is Sin city (and i`m a hardcore fan of x-men, which also was a great movie, but the art in sin city and the way the link the movie with the comics was amazing )

Stay Alive seems god-awful. I haven't seen it, and don't intend to.

As for a good movie, I watched Night of The Living Dead last night on the Turner ****c Movie channel. It was really good, and I did not expect the ending they gave me. Pretty sad, actually.GreggD

i love sin city

i saw TMNT on friday :D i cant believe it was actually better than my optimistic hopes... like AMAZING!!! it was alittle short, only an hour and a half... but the fighting and everything was so awesome. the animation was superb. it had cool music, great lines and voice talent... and the plot was pretty nice also. its just so cool they were really able to make a good movie for the turtles after the series was dormant for so long. i would greatly recommend it if you were ever a fan of the TMNT... because it wont disappointkappareign

 On other topic: for me the worst movie EVER made of a VG is BloodRayne.. and most ppl agree (as far as i know).. well guess what they r doing a second one!!!

i mean c`mon.. when we say that RE adaptation were bad.. yes the story was change, and some effect may not be good and the real sence of RE was loss.. but as action movie: the acting was pretty good, the character were performed ok (well, at least those that we can compare..bc: Alice?? alice who?? :lol: ) and overall u can say is at least watchedable sp? ..and if you don`t think as a RE related is a pretty good action/zombie movie.. But BloodRayne: As an adaptation game film: Milla did this worst interpretation of rayne, the plot is awfull and even if u think of it as a separate movie (no related to the game): the effects are awfull (exc maybe the red art. stuff), the plot again c.ra.p, what happen with Milla cool actituted looking?? who knows.... IS A BAD movie!!! the WORST!!!

so i finally watched Eragon and Bridge to Terabithia ... The 1st one is ok, nothing major ... and the second well...major spoile-end of Bridge to Terabithia

[spoiler] it reminds me of My 1st kiss ( a movie i watched when i was around 12yo), thx god i did not watch Bridge to terabithia been a kid..is a movie so sad... The girl die and is not actually a fantasy movie (i have not read the book so i did not know) is about 2 kids whcih live are not too great and they scape of this reality by using their imagination and then one of the kids die :cry: :cry: [/spoiler]

OMG.. how Marvel could make this movie???..is awfull..is worst that Hulk.. :shock: The effect are awfull, the plot is bad (no comparing with the comics, i never follow that one), the acting is good ( pry bc is Nicholas Cage, if nnot it would pry be bad as well), the enemies are a joke....

Well... i finally get my hands on some of teh movies of the "AFTER DARK HORROR FESTIVAL"

Of the 9 movies i manage to get 4: The Hamiltons, the Abandoned, Reincarnation and Wicked little things. So far i have watched "the hamilton"

is a ok movie.. why does it calified for the festival?? i don`t know thus.. (the festival is suposse to be about movies that are too violent, or have to much horror/gore or whatever to be shown nationwide in USA....) Anyway, is a good movie if you don`t have anythingto do.... the plot of the movie is a bit obvious and not scary at all. Something that can make this movie interesting is the "suffering" of one of the character while he is grown into what his life is or would be...

[spoiler] Is about a family that kidnap ppl and kill them, but other that that is a normal family. After a few minutes in the movie you notice that they kill to support themself .. (the are vamps). the mvie is from th epoint of view of one of the youngest kids, who is suffering for being "sick", while he is growning to be a adult vamp.

But horror speaking, it does not ahve horror per se and it just have a couple of gore scene [/spoiler]

i`ll may put my opinion about the other movies once i watch them.. :P

I saw Spiderman 3 last Saturday in Imax. Fun was had by all. Emo Peter struttin' his stuff practically made the movie for me. And while I thought the Sandman was frickin' awesome I couldn't stand the way they ended his story. It pretty much disregarded everything else he'd done in the movie. But I was still pretty impressed with it anyway. I give it an 8/10.

Of course I just found out last night that The Dark Knight(sequel to Batman Begins) won't be released until July 2008. I don't think I can wait a full year to see Batman kicking The Joker's ass with assistance from ol' Harvey Dent. No matter what though, this movie is going to be awesome and better than anything Joel Schumaker ever did with the property.

i watched pirates of the caribbean at world`s end" yesterday... it was pretty fun, the plot/history was well develope and i enjoy it a lot..the acting great, J. Depp did an amazing rolled... i`m not a fan of his.. but got that guy does a great roll with Jack :D:D

havent posted in this topic for awhile... lol. well ive seen spiderman 3 and pirates 3 by now. i thought both were pretty good... but it seemed to me like they just tried to jam-pack as much stuff into both as they could. there was almost too much stuff going on... in spiderman... *possible spoilers* hes got to deal with 2 villians, plus harry, plus mary jane, and his job and the venom and aaaaaah. and then by the end of the movie... its like everything is back to normal. almost. i really thought they could have introduced venom in this one, and like at the end peter gets rid of it and then eddie brock gets it. and then eddie is venom in spiderman 4. instead of just introducing him and killing him off all in one movie

and pirates... ?? dont get me started on that. it was crazy. but still good...

on the other hand i watched Perfect Stranger the other day.. OMG.. great movie... also i watch premonition with Sandra Bullock, is a pretty good movie, why did it get a bad review i don`t known, i found it really good.. no as good as Perfect stranger, thus :P

well personally a lot of movies these days suck. in the past few years the only good movies notbased on a comic book, video game, novel, Disney theme park attraction, etc. have been Meet the fockers, Elf (right up there with christmas vacation for best christmas movie) Anchorman, and Stranger than fiction. I know not everyone thinks those movies are great but think back to the movies you have seen that you loved that have come out in the last five years or so (and not based off a book or old tv show or anything) and see how many you come up with. not too many at all i bet.

i only say all that becsuse i read an article recently about a guy who wrote this book about how youtube and amateur actors, directors and writers are killing hollywood. the one thing he said that literally made me laugh was he compared writers and actors today Shakespeares who are losing jobs to youtube. uh yeaaaa leo de caprio (i know i spelled that wrong) is the next shakespeare...not! all the guy is is a pretty face for the chicks to look at. i havent seen anything on youtube ( i only use it to see music vids) but its not youtube killing hollywood its the hollywood ego without the talent to back it up that is killing hollywood jobs. we are paying too much to go to the theater to see medicore stuff.

yea i actually can name some more that i forgot about earlier.Mean Girls,Monster House, The Incredibles, and i would probably say star wars episode three but i havent seen it yet. and i also want to say Toy story 2 but im not sure that came out in the last five years. that would be about 10 movies out of the many, many movies that have come out in that length of time.

and Saw? really? sorry i dont see how its any good. its just over the top gore. thats not scary. horror movies espiecally stink nowadays. they seem to blend into one another. Disturbia and 1408look good but i havent seen them yet. I mean you just dont see horror movies like Predator (yea it is mostly considered a sci fi movie but an alien hunting a team of marines in the jungle has the horror elements) the old Dracula movies, the old house on haunted hill, or even something like Signs. if i was counting movies based on books id also say the shining and salems lot. yes some of those did have their share of blood but they never relyed solely on that to scare people

SAW series, is not actually horror, is a thriller.. and yeap.. i found it amazing, more for the massage that it has.. i mean, if you look at it, Jigsaw is right, he has a creepy/crazy way of showing and making the point, but he is right... :?

[spoiler] and on SAW III, the fact that he was testing his appreantince was priceless. I mean he notice that she was just a killer, no someone who give a person "the second change of living the right way" like he thing he is... [/spoiler]

So imo... SAW is a hell of a movie... great plot, great characters develope..and SAW III was the perfect close to the saga (hopefully they would do the prequel.... about the flashes show on the movie.. there was a rumor about it ... :P

Now... i have not watch Disturbia... But 1408.. good movie... :D

Predator was pretty good.... but yeap.. for me is sci-fi, thus u are rigth...

i looked into wiki... is a superheroes movies...so i`ll watch it :lol: but i`m not familiar with the characters... :?

Now.... the past week i watch...

Disturbia: is ok. Is a crime thriller. And is good to past the time. If you don`t have anything to watch, this movie will give you a nice regard for your movie. 6.5/10

Fracture: I LOVED A. Hopkins, so any movie with him with a dark topic is good. The story is a bit slow, but intersting. and the acting, well is hopkins and the other guy a great job as well. 8/10

Dead Silence. NOthing new, but is a good horror movie. You would be scared a couple of time and even thus the plot is quite simple; following what is going on is intersting and would keep you watching. 7/10

Transformers is finally in my country... :D:D i`ll watch it on wenesday :D

well i watched The Punisher and 28 days later. The Punisher is awesome, million times better than the older movie. 28 days later was ok, it wasnt as good as i thought it would be.

and since im a big simpsons nut ill probably go see the movie this weekend, and ill probably love it

I saw Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix last week. It's a Harry Potter movie so obviously the budget had more money than god and it was a **** visual masterpiece. The story was lacking(just like the books), though. Anyways, I enjoyed it, and that's all that matters. Now I just have to wait until next November for the Half-Blood Prince.

Also! The first teaser trailer for The Dark Knight popped up on the internets today. Unfortunately, the teaser didn't show anything other than the film's logo crumbling, revealing a Joker card in the process. BUT, you also get to hear a couple lines from the movie, including Heath Ledger as The Joker(he sounds a helluva lot like Beetlejuice). You'll have to look it up on Youtube, and fast as Warner Bros. is removing it for copyright reasons.

i have not watch harry, yet. No a big fan, but i guess i would see it eventually (one of my friend love the movies)

On the other hand i watch The Transformers :D:D:D GREat movie, i thought there was just going to be great effect, but it hs that + is funny + good plot (of nothing that you would not expect, autobots vs de... fighting for The Cube.) so is worth it without a doubt :D:D
