In case you have not yet noticed, Halloween is only a few weeks away. Although many of us are sadly too old to dress up in costumes and go trick-or-treating, do not fret. There is still a way you can preserve the Halloween spirit, and that is by playing and discussing Castlevania!

It's simple, really. Castlevania has took many of the elements and icons that we associate with horror/halloween/creepiness and mixed them into a blender to create what is one of the greatest gaming series ever. so in honor of that, this topic will stand as a way for us Vampire Killers to rejoice and share the ultimate castleania experience. In this topic you can:

- Share your Halloween weekend stories, Castlevania related or not

- Talk about Castlevania ideas

- Make fart jokes

- Share opinions of halloween in general (what you think of it, other peoples house decorations, etc.)

- List your favorite/least favorite Castlevania game, character, setting, etc.

- Share ideas of pumpkin carvings, Castlevania related or not

- Share costume ideas (if you have one)

- Discuss your favorite horror films

- Etc.

Anything halloween/horror/Castlevania related goes! Just keep this topic going until the end of Halloween, and we will have succeeded. This a multi-purpose forum that anybody can jump into and talk. Also, be sure to play some Castlevania on Halloween to reinvigorate your inner Belmont. Much like cultists regularly resurrect Dracula, we will resurrect the spirit of Castlevania, just in time for Halloween. Happy vampire slaying!

I might as well get this thread started.

My favorite Castlevania game is definitley Castlevania IV, with SOTN as a close second.

My favorite character would have to be Alucard, because he simply looks awesome and has that "I must kill my father" attitude which is deep and shows his bravery/dedication. Cornell is a close second, he just hasn't had enough attention IMO. I'd like to see him in some more games. The only thing that's preventing me from choosing Simon is his unwillingness to wear pants. I mean seriously. Fine in the 80's, but now it's starting to look ridiculous.

Least favorite Castlevania game would have to be Castlevania 64. It wasn't terrible, but dissapointing enough to stand out in what is otherwise a fantastic series. The controls and camera were pretty bad, and it just felt bland. At least Legacy of Darkness was a little better.

Also, one more thing I have to note. Anyone find it weird that different Castlevania titles seem to recycle their names? For example:

- Legacy of Darkness, Curse of Darkness

- Aria of Sorrow, Dawn of Sorrow

- Harmony of Dissonance, Harmony of Despair

- Order of Ecclesia, Order of Shadows

- Bloodlines, Rondo of Blood, Bloodletting

I know there are a ton of games in the series and eventually they run out of name ideas, but at this point it's just getting confusing!

I changed my mind. Curse of Darkness is the worst in the series in my opinion. The game's levels felt really bland and the combat was way too simplistic.The_Breadcrab

Darn, I though my thread would be a little more popular than this. Oh well, I can carry it for now.

Here's an interesting castlevania pumpkin carving:

Also, a cool techno version of the song Vampire Killer:

Enjoy!

As for my post...Halloween is only in a day or two haha:D i noticed you wrote weeks, but fortunately we dont have to wait that long.

I myself will carve a pumpkin terribly. I have never done one on my own before so this will be new for me. I think i will try belmont from Castlevania Adventures.

then i will throw candy at people. basically, when people come to my house they will see a sign stating "Enter if you DARE. they will be greeted by a haunted and decrepit home...where i will ambush them with gummy candy. that'll teach to dare set foot in my home and let them know i hate sharing candy!

after that i am going to party it up dressed as an Asian Ghostbuster.

Halloween will be PERFECT.

*i also just realized that I myself am double-posting here...darn. stupid mozilla wouldnt let me cut an paste earlier posts. my bad.

Well My favorite Castlevania games are Circle of The Moon, Symphony of The Night, and Harmony of Dissonance(those are the only ones I played as far), If I have to go with one I'd say Circle of the Moon It had a great balance not too hard not so easy either and the whole card system was pretty awesome too. As for favorite characters I'm going Richter Belmond, Nathan Graves, and Alucard(Juste Is pretty cool as well), and I'm not a fan of halloween personally, you have a good point about the game sharing titles a bit, also that techno version sound really awesome and Wow the pumpkin  whoever did that have some skillz.

Should we do a play-through challenge for any Castlevania game? Like beating the game in a week.

Love Castlevania Bloodlines and Super Castlevania 4. By far both are my favorites in the series. Castlevania NES being third place in my heart.

As far as costume ideas, I was planning on dressing up as the kid from " Where the Wild Things Are ", and my friends were gonna be the monsters since they're so much bigger than me :P

Another costume idea was going to dress up as Captain Crunch, carrying bowls of cereal and milk to hand out at a party.

Lastly, I have been watching the Puppet Master series to get in the mood for Halloween :D So far, I have watched 1, 2 and 3. Gonna watch 4 tonight ^_^

this sounds like a fun idea you could set up with others who are interested. Pic a game that the players all have. Then just play through, take a pic of results, and post the pics on here(on another thread for it of course). Maybe the winner could get a "Championship" sig made by our famous kate1 productions?

That sounds like quite an interesting idea. You should post that in Burnt Paradise. If it gets enough attention, we could have a good source of competition here.

Woops, I just realized I wrote "in a few weeks", when really I meant a few days. Sorry! And yeah, sorry about multi-posting. I'm pretty clumsy when it comes to forum posting!

I'll try making a Castleania pumpkin myself. If it's not absolutely terrible, I might even post a picture! I'm also going to go trick-or-treating because I have to supervise some younger ones, so obviously I've got a costume to go with it. It's pretty simple, but it looks cool. I'm going to wear black jeans and a black sweater, then I'm going to put on a makeshift chestplate I made using a $6 plastic shield from a halloween store, as well as red cape, a black mesh hood that obscures my face, and some completely AWESOME gloves I got a few years ago that words cannot do justice to. I'll probably have to post a picture of my costume as well! I guess it kind of looks like Death crossed with a spartan from 300. Not necessarily a bad thing.

On Halloween, I'm going to play SOTN and Soul Reaver, as well as Castlevania Chronicles, which I recently downloaded from PSN. Should be fun! Maybe I'll also watch Van Helsing and Ghostbusters just to rekindle some memories.

Oh, and one more thing! Someone made this Castlevania stage out of LEGO, and I'm at a loss of words for the amount of creativity that was put into it. See it here:

Enjoy!
