No. Not at all. There will always just be a few active people. That said, I'm a fan of a bunch of sleeping members that you can wake up for a competition or something.
We only had 2 for a while, that was myself and my daughter.
I'm sure that the Wii and the PS3 have a lot to do with the slow decline of GS. My youngest son has virtually lived in his room since he got a Wii last Christmas.
Not at all. If you have a few no life posters such as my self a union can do great with only 3-5. I've seen UCB's and Unions get well over 2000 posts a day running on 5 main users and a few others that come and go
Not sure. he just left with out saying anything. I think he will be back in a few months tho. he does this from time to time. Comes and makes like 30K posts in about 2 months and than takes a few months off again

It happens when you can do 500 days for a while :P Ok back on topic, no you don't need a lot of users to have a good flow going. Just need a few users that can post a lot
But, if you want to make the union really interesting you need more then just a few members. Disucssion is not very big when you have 3 people posting. But if you have 10 people posting you will get a lot more discussion and ideas. If you have a competition it will be bad with 3 entries and 3 votes.
I feel that it's more fun with more members, but you don't need many members to be an active union.
Well yea if your going to have comps of any kind you are going to need more but you don't need them to post, just par take in the eventfastesttruck
Well yeah, but it's much more fun if they participate in the discussion aswell. The best unions are most of the times the unions with mith most members aswell. It's a conection there.
Depends what your looking for. If I'm looking for a new place to just post in, I tend to look for a place with less users that post more rather than more users that post less

I don't think so, I mean in almost all of the unions taht I am in, the only posters are the same four people. A good example of this is the BK union, I'm not sure, but I think that there are a lot of people there, yet the only regular posters are me an d the union's leader.
It depends on your view of what active is. When my Union left GameSpot, I only had a handful of regular posters. That wasn't good enough for us, since we know we could get hundreds if we were on our own site. I'm finally almost about to launch the site. That handful of posters is still around. Once it's up I'm going to be spending a little money on advertising, but google does wonders. More of the people who are still on the union that access gamespot will likely move, but we'll be getting a lot of people who have never even heard of GameSpot before.
I'm glad that your doing good. It was a sad day when you left. And then so many others left aswell. Be sure to post when your new site is up. I'm pumped to see how it looks!
Ok, just putting out there that my union is pretty much dead because I'm the only one who posts anything. I have like 27 members or so (I just started it) and no one does anything. Is there a way to fix that?

just to work at it. find things members are interested in. recruit. if you want good members, PM them as an invite. try looking at the topic how to make a union interesting
Nope. We only have a few active members, but the place is fairly updated and stuff. Our competitions seem to have more people than usual though :? (The last one we did have 17 people enter, normal posters on the union are about 6 or 7)

though the union advertises that it's for everyone who likes books, music, and games, its front page looks like a Sony homebase. I would do something about that. :P
No, you don't need a lot of people to make a Union active. Though, it sometimes helps. :P
@topic: yes and no. when you start it and have a solid base of active members you dont need anymore but when they start to leave and issues start to come it is necessary to get more members, inviting and telling them to invite until you get a new solid base of active members:P and it repeats.
