Union Awards

Lol, you're quick to reply, I started editing my post to make it more comprehensive then got sidetracked...

Anyway, for anyone who didn't see it I also said Best "First to Fight" Union was unnecessary and pointless.

The way I see it, we have three groups here: best union of _____ type, best _____ aspect of the union, and "underdog" awards.

For the first group, there's Sports/Special Interest, Off-Topic, Community Assistance, and Game Specific. I can't think of any more.

For the second, there's Presentation and Archive. I'd add Community, it could be based on the atmosphere/activity/quality of the board.

For the third, the awards more or less promote/bring attention to smaller unions coming up or unrecognized but high-quality unions. We have new unions and unions that should be endorsed, I'd add best union with less than _____ views (could be called Best Unseen Union) and best union with less than _____ members (could be called Best Small-Scale Union). That's all I can think of for now, but there's a lot of potential for adding categories in this third group.

Why not add Top Leader or something of that nature. By the way, I think the awards show should skip all the advertisements and what-not, and instead focus on the unions, telling exactly what each union does and such. hendrix29

i know what you mean. TSP is now 1 year old. we can't be the best new union anymore... but mabye the best RTS union.

That's an interesting idea, do you think we should have awards for different genres of games? Like best RTS, FPS, RPG, etc.?

Also I am waiting to hear from Don about the union awards. Im not sure exactly what he said, but gamespot may actualy be doing them.

Not 100% sure, thought it was the correct thing to do, I could be wrong of course.

Ok, lets ignore the fact that GS might be doing union awards this year for now, maybe they will and maybe they won't.

But let's get this planned out, one step at a time:

1) We need a final list of awards.

2) We need to decide the voting rules...

3) ...and how long to spend on each part of the voting: the nominations, and the finals.

So, first things first. This is the full list that's been suggested in the thread, should any be taken out/any new ones added?

"Union-Types" Awards:
Off-Topic
Community Assistance
Sports/Special Interest
RPG
Fighting
Action/Adventure
Shooter (first- or third-person)
Strategy (real-time or turn-based)
General (applies to console-specific unions, all-games unions, etc.)

Best "Part of Union" Awards:
Best Presentation
Best Archive
Best Community

"Underdog" Awards:
Best New Union
Best Unseen Union (best union w/ less than x views)
Best Small-Scale Union (best union w/ less than x members)

A good idea but to get the exposure it needs we would need admin/mod backing i think. Also it's gonna take a lot of time and effort to organise.uas-2001

there could also be an award for best union avatar and best union banner. those were in Gs's awardsArmyGuy0628

I have another idea, although it might have been mentioned. Every whenever you give out the awards, you can look at all the unions, and an award can go to the union who has the most creative banner or avi. dragonfly110

How about the best console based union?

That would be good. But there might be some argumenst, like if you pick a nintendo union, micro. and sony might complain that you are a nintendo fan boy. (same thing if you pick micro. or sony.)dragonfly110
