In RPG games, there seems to be this division between good and evil. Where your decisions shape your characters story, outcomes, and dialogue. I'm wondering what alignment people tend to choose? Do you play the game more than once, changing your alignment to try the different story?

Depends what RPG you're on about because some of them don't give the option. I'm good most of the time.

And while these game might not have a direct "hey you're evil" meter, I do think most of them keep track of your decisions and will change your options as a result. In Fallout 3, people will come up to you and give you items for free if you're good. And, evil characters won't even talk to you if you're good. I recall something similar for Oblivion, where if you are a chronic thief, the guards will attack you on sight and dialogue changes b/c you're a criminal.

Just wondering how people play these games... i only tend to give a game 1 run thorough run-through. I don't have enough time for more. And generally i'm "good".

I would pick good, evil is good, I have yet to try that.

Shaiya allowed the player to select good or evil from the character creation.

I'd go with this, since I only really play J-RPG's. But, If I picked a side, it'd be the good one.

Ah, interesting topic. I am usually good on these games, I am finding Fallout 3 is harder for this as you get less money for doing this and currency seems to talk. However, you do get more into the game as it means more missions are opened up to you and you get more information from people.

I am enjoying Fallout 3 alot at the moment.

I tend to take the good route, and even when I try to play evil, I find myself just killing/stealing from those that deserve it... Fallout 3 is a prime example of this.

I do tend to replay games though to see how differently I can play something.

I remember Fallout with it's Karma setting.. getting the prefect 90 day ending was a nightmare however can be done withing 2 to 3 hours with a healthy FAQ.

Fallout 2 had a rating titled Child killer... when you kill children and you have the whole state looking for you and there a bounty on the players head.

Apprently the female character in the first fallout game can sleep with any guy and receive any information.

The only one I've ever really played that gave me the choice was Neverwinter Nights. I have to say that the attraction of being evil always amuses me among other people. I like to try out all the alignments and Neverwinter has the re-playability factor to allow that.

I'm always good. Like really, really good. If I play it again for achievements or to see what is different, I'll play as evil.
