i have very distinguished needs. i like to play the console frequently, especially weekend mornings and some evenings. i use my handheld while watching tv and crap is on, and every night in bed i either play the DS or the micro...currently since smokes mario thread - i have SMB loaded in and am playing it again.

i enjoy the quality of the console alot, but handheld quality has come along way. so my time is kind of split, although there ain't nothing quite like killing some crimson heads in REmake on a handheld yet.

i like both, depending on what I'm doing.  Portable if I'm on a trip, but console if i have nothing to do at home.

I like both equally as well, it just depends on what games I'm playing and if there are any good games out.

Well to be honest the only reason i perfer home gaming these day's is because the games are much longer then portable games.  Soon enough they will have a 64 bit portable and then i will play smash bros. till the end of time.

Both Really. GC eats away about a quarter of my day, and I'll play some 12-player brain training for the rest :P

Consoles.  I have only had one handheld, the original Gameboy.  However, I will be getting a DS Lite later this year.

I enjoy playing on a console. I have a GBC and that's it. It might change if I own a DS, but don't plan to. I like to bring my GBC on trips, but I play at home for the most of my life.

You should all get Lite's. they're seriously worth it. I'll be picking mine up as soon as it's released here in the UK. Or was it 23rd of June? If so, I should be at GAME by now.

i recently decided on portable because i tend to play by myself anyway. the portables give me more privacy in this sense.

That's an interesting point.... I can see what you mean by handhelds being more private. People tend to just ignore the fact that you are playing a game when they see you using a handheld because they can't really watch, however consoles are more social oriented. I guess you could probably judge what kind of gaming a person likes by their personality if that is the case.

Portable games lack the same elements that home system games have. Handheld games are usually really short and the gameplay can be slow at times. I loke handheld games alot but id have to say that i prefer home console games.;)

I'm becoming increasingly more of a portable gamer. I just don't have the same amount of time that I used to have. It almost feels like a chore to set aside some free time, sit down, and play a game on my Wii or anything else. With my DS I can pick get in and get out the game fast. I'm all for the recent push in Japan for games to move to portable consoles. I feel like we are just one generation short of having the same level of immersion with handhelds that we get with home consoles. Maybe the next GameBoy or DS succesor will get the job done.

I feel that the only issue with handhelds is the size of the screen. Other then that, both are very different so I like them equally what they are.

Heh, well I think they are just right because otherwise the system could get kinda clunky. :P

I hope the DS satisfies your screen problem? ;)

Well most of the time it's ok, I rarely have that sort of problem. Plus I own a PSP, now that's a screen !

Ack, the evil PSP........I hate that system with a passion. :P

The cool thing I find with the DS' double screens is that it's an effective way to display a lot of information, especially information that is quite different in nature. :P

What I like about the DS is that it gets more original games and that's what differs handhelds from consoles (see rev I'm getting back on topic :D), while the PSP feels more like a portable home console (which I don't necesseraly hate because I'd like to home console games to be portable). But in overall, the thing that differs Handheld games to console games is that the handheld one are shorter and more faster and this suits well Handhelds.

I think they only feel like console games because the visual limit is about the same thing as the PS2's.... which is a console.... Portable's I find to be much more approachable, I can pick up and play a game anytime I want to, and I don't have to worry about load times, which is why I actually prefer cartridges.

Yes loading times seems to be one of the only issues with the PSP. But the DS has proven that cartridges are still a great medium to use.

Well, it helps that the cartridges are uber-tiny for the DS. :P

I love them both but Home consoles offer more stuff than a protable handheld. Well that's what I think anyway.
