using advanced alien technology i am about to tell you exactly what is next - mark it down, tag it, write it in your diary folks - here it is:
GBA - gone, but NOT forgotton...this is going to become an 'ace in the hole' if you will for a rainy day at Nintendo..when? who knows. Gameboy brand is not going away - there will be another product to bear the name. I wonder if the next gameboy product won't actually be the handheld system that plays gamecube games....don't fluff that off - it's very possible to have a handheld cube - give it a few more years and I think it will be a reality...the programming base is there, alldevs are familier with the code, the manufacturing process is there (smaller cheaper)..it can happen and I think it will.
Home Console Front: It will be a refined vision of Wii....they even say they introduce a console, then refine it the next go around and come up with something new the next time. We'll get a more powerful Wii, more memory, better controls...ect. Just look at the previous consoles.
DS - My alien technology phails me here - I don't know where DS will go...I will guess that the next version will not support GBA playback due to the GB line being 'put in the closet' and maybe a new functionality added. Accelerometers? New card format? I dunno.
it's never too early to look to the future. if all we ever did was live in todays world - we'd never make it to tomorrows world. it's called advancement - it's why we eat with forks instead of fingers, use cups instead of hands and wipe with fragrant toilet paper instead of leaves that let your fingers break through.
thinking ahead is how we got to where we are.

You're all wrong. Nintendo can't do much more because technology has reached the end of the line. The FEEL of games. There is nothing more, nothing less. Therefore, Nintendo's last proper console will be Wii, because they can only improve and improve, but the concept is still the same. The FEEL of games. No matter how much they improve, no matter how the design changes, the way you play the game won't change, unless it has been downgraded.
Being human, we cannot come up with anything more advanced, it's logical. The feel of games is the last, even if there's technical improvements. Because we're human, at this point, it's impossible to say something like ''you never know what we may come up with'' because we WON'T. Wether it's VR, or anything futureistic, the concept will alway-
God I'm dragging on again. Someone please make an arguament like that again, like that one about Nintendo making a new console in 2010. I love things like that :).
When the DS was announced N said it was not the new Gameboy but a new platform and the GB would still be around. Recently however, that has been changed to there is not another GB in the works (at least not the next advancement of the GBA). I agree with a previous poster that the GB name will be used and should be used, perhaps in a DS 2.
Speaking of DS, I would expect one with even better graphics, possible small discs instead of carts and a memory chip or small HD, much like an mp3 player. Also possibly other forms of entertainment built in like music, movies, 'net access. Oh and the touch screen is here to stay, given their hunt for non-gamer customers and the success of the system. Also look for integration between portable and console systems, which has been hinted at between DS and Wii but not yet disclosed. I expect that whatever interaction N has planned between DS and Wii will be pretty basic but in the next round it will be much more sophisticated.
you mean small disc like gamecube?? and yes I would like to see some better graphics too. maybe on gamecube level or higherWhen the DS was announced N said it was not the new Gameboy but a new platform and the GB would still be around.
