Freya was the correct translation. Aeris was not. It is not her name. Aeris is a character in a web comic. Aerith is the useless chick that got stabbed
Aerith is her name. It was originally mistranslated as Aeris and was fixed with the first KH game I believefs_metal
Im pretty sure they left it as Aeris. But I could be mistaken. If they did it would most likely be to avoid confusion to people who dont lnow the translation issue. But they did change Squalls name to Leon, which is still confounding me. Does that make his last name Squallhart?
Back to the Aerith situation. I do know that in Advent Children either Tifa or Yuffie says Aeris.
I cannot differentiate the sound of "th" and "s" sometimes. It took us ages to learn the correct pronunciation of "th". faTHer, moTHer... i didn't learn the right way until i was 12. And i still have difficulty hearing the difference.

You are mistaken. In everything from KH onward, she has been refered to as Aerith
the only reason squall changed his name to leon in the kh universe. is becuase when the heartless attacked squalls world he was so ashemed that he could not protect the planet that he resorted to changing his naame to get away from his past. so yeah, squalls name is really still squall. and thanx kc for the explanation.
