Union Suggestions and Discussions Thread

After 9 hours of GS, working on the union stuff, and reading all those GS terms of Use + being modded  :P, the Newsletter was released! :D

Im out for a well deserved 2 days break :P lol..

Dont you like the new desgin :cry:. It does has the same content, but there are more images and the possibility of adding more links :(. I wanted to keep the content, but add more style :P.

Yeah, this time it was just a warning. I will be more carefull next time. Also, I got the answer about the union´s leveling up problem. They said they deactivated it, cause of users posting randomly in order to leveling up. :(

i actually enjoyed that you separated the bottom topics. that was the only change that i picked out. hopefully we have more activity with that sent outAlBeadFFx

Oh! and btw, the credit for the banner, secoundary banner, and the images I used for the newsletter, all goes to Skye89 :D. I just made some cuts here and there and did the overall finish. :)

Its 3:39 AM, i got a cup of coffee next to, everyone is asleep but me :D , Been working on the union for the past 3 or 4 hours. I just finished linking the Article Archive together, so it is updated with ALL the news from 2010 and 2011, also i just finished updating the Greatest Hero of FFFU, and also have sent out a telegram. Lastly I have looked through our entire Directory, checking what needs to be updated, and updated everything I was able to update.

Angel, thanks for the Union Banners section updated i was glad to see that done lol. Now about the art thread, go ahead and look in there, I posted a concern about that. Also in the CDS union just posted in the Officer Wrokspace ad there is an update there about the contest and greatest hero. 

Um.... what else is there to say.... *drinks coffee* Ah yes, I like the newlsetter, its much more visiual and more appealing. And I think thats all i have to say.... *thinks*

Since it's from a month today. How about we create a little collaboration video with gratitude messages to celebrate the 5th anniversary! Dedicated to our valiant leader KC :DDreadDLordD

In the past we used to do awards of the year for users, but i dont know if we will have enough time for that... so maybe the idea of messages to KC is a good idea to replace the awards, but we might still do them, will have to see what angel says.

Also, what do you mean by videos, do you mean like messages of us speaking? Messages encoded into the video with Final Fantasy video footage, or what?

Yeah that was a great video that was made.

I could do something like taht, the only thing is it wont be as good as the one KC made lol, I think she used After Effects, or some kind of advanced program, all I am good at is Gimp, Photoshop, InDesign, Movie Maker, and a few other media programs, but I dont even have After Effects and I think thats what she used.

Alright here is what I have to say about this...

I think that its a great idea, especially for us who have actually been around since KC was leading and when KC left. The only downside is, some people who are in the union have probably never even talked to KC or even heard of her. By this fact, we would be excluding all of our other members and basically saying "hey your not part of the 5th anniversary." It is a good idea, and dont get me wrong, but it it is not something that is appropriate for the entire union and can suit a whole audience of the FFFU to participate in.

On the other hand, if we think, the only people who would make testimonials would be those who have met KC on Gamespot, but then again someone who may want to participate cant, because they have never met KC on here.

Next, if we are going to do this, the deadline has to be extended. Lets take a look at the date now, its February 21, and probably when your reading this it will be February 22. I have already learned from the Greatest Hero telegrams, some people dont even have time to submit their vote until 3 or 2 days before the voting is closed, and those are done weekly. I think only giving people like a week to read the telegram, think of an idea, read the rules, and then make the video / audio and then plus, upload it; I think thats a little to much for some people in our union. It may not be too much for us to do in a week, but again, for those people that do not have a lot of time but still wish to participate and be a part of the union may not have the time.

This is a great idea, and I am sure KC will be happy to see the testimonials and I do agree with the idea, but we also have to keep in mind everyone that is in the FFFU.

So thats what Sir Auron thinks, what will Vivi have to say to this speech? Something wise? Something intelligent? I hear mages have those characteristics :P  

EDIT: Maybe if we make the video / audio testimonials more general and not just to KC, more people could participate, but I dont know. If not we can always do something else if we must.

EDITED AGAIN BECAUSE I WANTED TO LET YOU ALL KNOW: Just updated the Directory adding the Art Thread, and the WAYLT thread. I looked at some other directories in other unions and saw that they have some pretty cool looking ones, so sometime this week I will be editing our directory to make it look better and look more... well "Sparkling" I guess.

First of all, as Sir Auron and then Dread said, general testimonies are better. If they do want to say something specially directed to KC (no love letters :evil: ) then they could do it :P

So here is what I have to say after that. First, the idea of giving testimonies to motivate the union seems genuine and great. But I have two main concerns; because we will make a music video with footage of Final Fantasy games, wouldnt the testimony  distract q little of the video and the music? correct me if I'm wrong. In addition, if KC has more than 400 friends and only 10% of them comment in 30 seconds what they think of the union, that would take like 2 to 4 minutes of the time devoted to the testimonies (considering the gaps between testimonies); I left that idea to help me see if its feasible.

Second, unfortunately, I think not many know how to record their voices, (and again correct me if I'm wrong), especially coordinating the type of audio, upload it,  and make it  available in the deadline. I think that could cause some problems?

Wouldnt It be better, to ask for their written testimony and present them in the video in a special section. I mean, while presenting the video, we could take time to commemorate the efforts of KC, past Officers and admins, members who contributed to the union, the current members and officers, and ultimately the testimonies?

I agree with Dread in the sense that if we can do it , we need to devote all the time we can to coordinate. MaybeusingCDS exclusively tomake this a surprise? (if nobody hasnt read this thread yet :P)

Come on guys, why so much writting, now I know I write a lot, but I am old, eyes get tired after reading a post for 3 minutes lol, you guys are young, you can handle my long posts. :P :lol:

Anyway, I think right now the idea of "Spitting out ideas" is not really making any progress. I would have to agree that written and video testimonials should be generalized and written testimonials should be accepted as well.

Also, once we make written testimonials acceptable many more people will do written ones, to save time for going through all the work with programs and stuff like that just to get a 3-4 minute testimonial out. I just think this idea was a little to short of notice due to the fact that now we only have less then a month to get everyone informed, get everyone working on their testimonial, and then do editing (Why do we need editing, I dont know what you mean by that, I thought people are making and editing their own videos and are just uploading them onto their GS profile???)

I dont know if I am just over complicating things due to the huge amount of writting but here is what I think we should do to make it simple and easy to understand, because no one is gonna wanna read huge paragraphs to just get to he point so here is what I am shotting for and I hope you all agree.

Have people make written or video testimonials. It can be towards KC, the union, or both. You can have videos, or pictures, or whatever you want in the video. If you want music in the background of your voice, make sure we can hear your voice over the music Then once you have made your video upload it to your Gamespot profile and link it to the union by selecting that the video is for the FFFU on the File Upload Menu. If you have a written testimonial, send them to me or angelbless, or we can just make a topic for people to post them. The deadlines can be about 2 days before the anniversary.

The reason why I am sort of confused and just wrote that simplified paragraph above is because I got lost when you started saying stuff about editing and uploading videos through DreaDLorD.

But we need to get it organized and get the word spread. I mean we all agree on the idea and the general aspect that they can be written or video type testimonials. All we now have to do is decide on the deadlines and a place for people to post their written testimonials, we don't want to over complicate things.

The time zones is something that will make it already very difficult...maniamsmart

Yeah angelbless has told me, he left me in charge, but i think he will be back for the newlsetter to be sent out.and if not then I will send out a telegram. I would do the newsletter for him, but I dont have any of the image templates that he has for the newsletter.

Have an idea: How about I send a telegram out now... about the topic you just made so people can already have a heads-up for the event and the newsletter that angel will send out when he comes back will just restate it and remind people.

EDIT: Telegram is sent, and if you noticed where it says 5th anniversary in the banner in the message, the white cloud smoke around the text there is messed up. While i was desgning it, i moved layers around and the cloud smoke got messed up a little, so sorry about that, but the news are out now. :) 

Alright go ahead and take a look at the FFFU Directory, it has just been redone, and "spiced up" if you wish to call it that, but it looks good.
