Who here did not love the hero in FFXII?

I love all the characters in FFXII except for the hero, which to me was kind of strange. I thought they could totally have done a better job with him. (I hope this isn't a repeat topic *crosses fingers*)

What does everyone else think?

Vaan wasn't really the main character of XII, though he is a hero.

but yeah, there really isn't a main character. Sure, you are forced to control Vaan in towns. But looking at the story, it focuses on alot more than Vaan. None of the characters you control get much more spotlight than another. So there is no main protagonist in FFXII's story.

but yeah, there really isn't a main character. Sure, you are forced to control Vaan in towns. But looking at the story, it focuses on alot more than Vaan. None of the characters you control get much more spotlight than another. So there is no main protagonist in FFXII's story.

Balthier was NOTHING!

In XII the main characeter is Vaan, no question about it. To say something else is absurd!
But I agree that there are way cooler and better characters in XII, but the fact is that he is the main character.

You do realize the haters voice their opinion much more than those who love it, right? If we go by that, FFVII is a terrible game because that game has more haters than any other game I've ever seen.

Same with FFVII, VIII, and X. There are plenty of people on the FF13 board who like FFXII, just like there are haters. But let's not get in some giant fight and say we have different opinions, okay?

And there's NO main character in FFXII's story. Although the media has to say main char this main char that, because duh, that's the guy we're controlling mainly. Technically, again, Vaan is the main char. Story-wise, i would think there's no main char at all. Although Balthier calls himself the main guy. :P lol

all ff games sell well. That's the impact of the ff series. It doesn't have to be real good to survive in the market. Just has to be good.

Sometimes i wonder, if people actually played games with mediocre review scores before to say "DoC SUCKED!" because of a good review score. Personally, if it's a ff game, i'd play it even before the review is out :roll:

you're always looking at DoC as a shooter fs. For me, i looked at it altogether. I didn't think it was a good shooter, in fact, i think it's bad too, for me who doesn't play a lot of shooting games, i know it too.

Would you dare deny DoC had a good story? Would you dare deny DoC had great graphics and gameplay concept? Would you dare then, say DoC sucked terribly in all aspects?

Thing is, sometimes i really don't get how the localization effort can get way off. It certainly has become better 20 yrs later. But, it still isn't getting the best treatment.

Everyone has their own opinion but I just saw Vaan as the main character since he is the character you play as. The game just fealt like it was missing something though and I totally think Vaan has something to do with it.

I LOVED Balthier, I think he was my favorite! :)

X-2 is a spin-off game, don't say it's a main title :?

Localization of FFXII was stunning? True, the language was perfect. and since they took like ONE YEAR or more to do it.

the voice actors could actually help by standing further away from the microphone though.

Thats a really good point I never noticed that until you said it. I did sound like they were standing too close.
