took the words out of my mouth... or off my fingers, i'm not reading what i write out loud :P

but it's your first work, just the fact that you could add effects is a big thing. like duder said, read tutorials and, whenever possible, mess around with gimp on your own.

i've never used a spark brush. ever. although most tuts told me to do it :P

i'm addicted to gaussian blur because of tuts, though >.>

LOOOOOOOL. Indeed. It is the most impressive at a first look :P Actually it's the most impressive, but the pepper one is EPIC :lol: (whoever uses GIMP knows what I mean :P)

Now, on to the pic. To be honest, for your first work, this is really good. You just need to learn the principles of designing:

Always make the focal point (main image/render) clear. That means: no effects on it, no blur, and yes- sharpen.

Flow: Create effects that work together well and create a nice flow that leads to your focal point. 

These 2 for now. The rest you gotta find them out yourself reading tutorials :)
