I like the closeness that is unique to union communities, as well as the level system here. As for dislikes - hah, there's plenty to dislike about the site. New TOU that encourages trolls and flamers, glitches aplenty, attitude shown to users by a particular staff member... the list goes on.

Thankfully, I've noticed that. It seems to be only the main GameSpot forums that have gone downhill, but it's still a cause for concern for new users looking to join this site in the future. If they see that flaming and trolling is allowed and that everyone is doing it everywhere in those forums, they're likely not gonna want to join.Â

Fair point. I'd likely not want to remain part of the community if I was a new user right now thanks to the flaming and trolling, and not to mention the quality of regulars these days in OT alone has gone sharply downhill. The posts of a select few users there make my head hurt...

Yeah, unions are pretty much the only safe place from the new ToU now. And that's a good point about new users. I actually tried bringing that up with Synthia when PMing her about the new ToU.

The quality of most posts there is abysmal now. Unfortunately one of the select few users I was referring to posted in the SCU earlier this month, but fortunately hasn't posted since. I hope they don't come back really.
SCU has avoided all the chaos and is still a very good lounge for members, I'm happy to say. That's why I post there so much. I hope it stays that way.

Seeing as JulianJr and probably all of the Officers are against the new ToU as well, they probably wouldn't let that place become chaotic.
The unions are a great feature about this site, however they should do something for it to. They have completely forgotten about them. Yes they just fixed the level bug, but they should have done that a long time ago!

Because I started working here in April of 2011. :P yeah, but gamespot has not done a thing with the unions, even though users have come with great suggestions. It has just been ignored
I can say with 100% certainty that the comments haven't been "ignored". Failure to be addressed, totally but I assure you that there are people who make comments about the need for union improvement on a weekly basis.
I still think Gamespot can be a Great Site, however I'm not too fond of the changes that have been going on here in the past 4 months or so. Perhaps the issue can be solved for inactive unions is by making them more well known and providing a link/directory for them on the GS homepage, and/or somewhere on the GS forums. I'd like to see unions gain more activity. However I think the new Terms of Use is actually hurting this site in all aspects. Not sure why GS thinks Fuse is a good idea, I never use it. I'd also love to see the old level bars back.

i am not saying you don't listen, but there hasn't been done ANYTHING for the unions for at least 5 years. The last feature unions got was the Video section

Nope, and I won't be able to keep track of everyone. Plus there are many getting used to it now so I don't think many are going to leave now, maybe later.
