oh the irony, we get the asgard tech but the ori find us like we're blood in the water.

daniel's rant to vala kindof put me off, at first i was all for him to tell her off, all those women out there trying to manipulate us guys. but even i was like whoa. so then that made me happy that he didnt really mean it.

great episode. so sad it's over. i got that sinking feeling in the stomach as the credit's rolled.

if the writers had more time they may have come up with something more fitting, but under the circumstances i thought they did a really good job of ending it.

godspeed thor.

I would have liked to see the asgard planet before it blew up,

and i guess the ori didnt really matter after all, seeing how the series wrapped up without them being eliminated,

guess well have to wait till the next series or,wait to see the wraith prior hybryds.

good thing i taped it cuz that all happened very quickly.

so were all the asgard killed?? or are there still some scattered about?? i know they won't last long either way but it would be nice to see some in the movies.

Seriously.

Plus why couldn't they look up what happened to the furlings while they had the Asgard core? The Asgard would know since they were both part of that coalition.

Ok, so I didn't read all the pages of this topic, but my question is...

Why couldn't they fix the shields in all those years? The shields were down to like 20% then they jumped for awhile.... when they came out the last time, they were back up to 50 something... they got shot right away, and then down real low, then they froze time. So if they could raise the shield strength like 30% while in hyperspace.... why couldn't the shields be fixed ina couple weeks? It jsut seems like they ignored the obvious solution.

Oh well... it's so clear there will be more SG-1, theres just no way that was the ending.

^ i didnt even think about the shields building back up, but there was probably some conflict with the time dilation field though.

and of course there will be more sg-1, at least 2 movies and maybe more.

Maybe the asgard ascended lol. I hated that they all commited suicide though im sure there is some asgard out there like loki that dont know what happened. Also when they said there is a massive power build up from the planet i thought maybe the asgard were firing some devices at the ori but then i guess the show would have been alot shorter (though technically the show only lasted a few minutes in real time because of the time dialation field lol).

The episode was soo good but i am actually quite sad that it is ending now. I think that instead of landry jack should of been there to say goodbye to thor. I think that would have made the episode the perfect send off and then jack and carter could also get together again.

I was wondering why they didnt use that device to make stuff out of thin air to make another damn ZPM or maybe a bunch of naq generators or something. Now i cant wait for Worlds to come out so we get to see the asgard again. It would be neat if they put in a treasure map or something in the database to something like a ship world or something lol.

Maybe the asgard ascended lol. Kurushio

i think they mentioned that due to the asgard's cloned physiology they are unable to ascend. so sad really since they might be able to talk some sense into their friends the ancients.

then jack and carter could also get together again.Kurushio

i actually got the feeling that Teal'c and Carter got together. the hug after landry died, the look during the decision of who would stay old, and the look at the end when Carter said it must be torture not to tell them what happened, he looked straight at Sam that whole time.

I was wondering why they didnt use that device to make stuff out of thin air to make another damn ZPM or maybe a bunch of naq generators or something.Kurushio

sometimes the simplest solution is the hardest to realize, although a ZPM wouldn't have helped with Sam's early ideas, but would have worked to add more power for the time travel bit. maybe the matter converter has a limit to how much energy it can convert.

also, what was up with Teal'c's hair. it was only white on the right side?? just a new style or did i miss something??

Ok, first off, a few replies to some posts in here, then I'll move to my post about the ep.

First page, Kneller1: Bra'tac is not 200 years old. He is like 144 years old (Season 1, he was a 133, 10 years later.... yea).

Asgard Ships: They said they gave Earth all of the Asgard knowledge. So Earth knows how to build them, I don't think the Asgard would go "Hey, we're going to throw all of these ships in as well.". I'm sure they took them apart, blew them up or whatever, so no one else can get their hands on the ships. Sure they could have given them to Earth, but oh well.

Other Asgard out there: I'm sure all of them were infected and all wanted to die at the same time with the rest of their race.

The Shields: I think there wouldn't have been enough time to kill the Time-Dilation Device and bring the shields up. It was like under a second before that beam hit. So the time gap wouldn't have worked.

The Poll: Come on people, the poll questions sucks XD. Really. The first and second choices is countering each other out. XD

I don't know what to say... I've watched SG-1 for years, I've seen all the episodes, I own most of the seasons (just missing 4 and 8 I think), and tonight it all came to an end (discounting the movies). A lot of times I wondered what the last episode would be about, wondered what the final moments would be about. And tonight I got to see it with my own eyes, I got to see SG-1's final episode, I got to see how different my thoughts were with the final ep.
I know the ep will come under fire by a lot of people, they will look back at it, poke holes in it, and all that. And that's fine, if they want to do that then I have no prob with it. But I look back on the episode and see 10 years of SG-1 in it. I see the Asgard saying Earth is truly the 5th Race, I see the team being together, I see the Asgard really dying, I see Walter dialing the gate, I see Earth's fight pay off, I see them going through the gate. And to me, that's what made the episode so great. I know some of you might think I'm off my rocker, because a lot of that stuff is in other episodes. But to me what Unending should have been about was character development. And that's what it was, pure character development as well as tying up some loose ends.

It cried when Thor was talking to Sam, how Earth is the 5th Race, not to be sad about them, and when they planet blew up. The race that helped them more then anyone else has giving Earth all they could give. Without the Asgard where would Earth and the SGC be? And now, they no longer have the Asgard to go to, they no longer have Thor to drop in every now and then. The Asgard helped them all that they could, and now they are on their own.

I really liked the ending part. How the gate slowly dialed, how they were talking, how Vala said what Daniel said, that life is too short, how Teal'c's final word was "Indeed", and how they all walked through the gate for the final scene. I know, I might have wished Jack was on it, or wished this or that should have been changed. But to me, the episode was perfect, an ending fitting for the show we all know as, Stargate SG-1.

^ well said.

with the asgard gone, our greatest mentor is gone as well. we the student must now stand on our own and utilize what we have learned (not like we haven't been doing that for the past 2 years or so since the asgard have been gone). but now there is no chance of just asking for help, we must learn it ourselves and sustain our existence 'alone.'

Feels kinda lonely now that there really isnt anyone else to help us out any more. The jaffa cant be trusted and the tokra are also a dying race. The Nox dont help and the Tollans havent been heard from in years and the Furlings have been gone for who knows how long and left very little if any tech behind that is useful. Now earth is basically the most advanced and powerful race of any other "good" races in 2 galaxies that we know of fighting 3 very powerful adversaires. Also since we have all of the asgard tech that means that they should be able to backwards engineer more powerful power sources and pdw's (personal defense weapons) like when maybourne stole some of the tech including i think some handheldcloaking device. I just realized that the earth now has the knowledge and database of 2 of the most powerful races ever in thier control and yet dont seem to be utilizing it very well. They have had the ancient database for years now and still havent gotten much out of it for whatever reason.

some advanced tech, like the tollan 'walk thru walls' device, i don't think we could currently backwards engineer. we just don't understand and can't yet comprehend the physics that go in to that device. so maybe it's similar with the ancient tech, we just aren't at a high enough level of tech to develop and produce many of their devices.

EXAMPLE: if you gave the schematics for a nuclear power plant (or bomb, take your pick) to someone in medieval Europe, they would have no comprehension of the technology.

Im not sure that it would be quite the same since they already have alot of experience working with some of it but i do understand your point. Still i think that now that they have all this knowledge the IOA should expand the SGC's research budget considerably and bring in alot more sci's to help out. You would think that the protection of earth would be far more vital than atlantis.

well doesnt Area 51 handle a lot of the research on alien tech? but yeah they can always use more money to create defensive weapons against the Ori. but as that increases then you risk having to expose the programs to the public, which i think may happen in the new series.

It's been in the dark for 10yrs which isnt bad for something as crazy as they are doing. Now that they have the means it may be a good time to reveal the truth but then how would the world react. The major countries know of it but the public may not be too happy that before they only had the threat that a country would launch a nuke and now when they look up they have to wonder if aliens will blow up the planet. If this was happening with our real world and the US was in Iraq still i couldnt imagine what the public would think about us fighting a secret war with other worlds. Probably would increase recruitment alot for the air force and marines to get the chance to go to another world.

I don't know about the rest of you guys but I have been hitting the bottle since the episode ended lol I plan on watching it a few more time before I give my thoughts, but I can say right now that it was the best SG-1 episode I have ever seen. Its by far my favorite, it kicks the crap out of heroes Pt.1 and 2.

^ easy shock. don't go overboard. ;) i know thor's appearance may be influencing your judgement lol.

^^ as for your comment Kurushio, i agree. the current real-world state of affairs wouldn't exactly help the publics trust in their gov't/military. although now with the asgard tech we might be able to win. i know it attracts the ori and all but there are other ways we could use it. like straight up defense for earth and earthships that just patrol our solar system. so if the program became public after all these things were tied up then it wouldn't be as big a shock.

R.I.P. Stargate SG-1.

May you rest in peaceful slumber, for you had a long, active life. Your Spin-off prospers while you were taken before your time. None of us wished this for you, but 'tis the way of television. Even now, 2 of your offspring are coming to life, while a 3rd is due in a few years. This is your legacy, for you came from humble beginnings and soon enough commanded attention and a loyal following. But even to the end your critics underestimated you and treated you with disdain. But we were there for you and will continue to support that which you have given life to, and even 50 years from now may the world sing your praises. Oh glory be to Stargate SG-1.

Lol. I figured that the alternate mitchell was just messing with him but i thought maybe he might be telling the truth. Sam seemed to believe him.
