the reason he left was to spend time with his family so i doubt he will return, maybe a few scenes here and there but thats about itmjk1
No, like I said it isn't because of jack. The plots have changed. Almost to a star trek type.Sarge_Maximus2I felt the plot points had changed when Jonas was around to a X-files, type. But yeah, I agree that is currently more of a star trek plot line than a true stargate plot.

Yeah they kind of did didn't they? But the only thing wrong with X-Files was that it wasn't executed properly, of course, stargate did it much better. And I've always thought of stargate to be a show that did what star trek did only better, but now the plot lines in season 9 seem to be changed to true star trek type. Very annoying.
by the end of the season we should get use to mitchellmjk1
Mitchell and Daniel are developing some great chemistry and seem to be learning to play off each other as much as Daniel and Jack did. I think Part II of "The Fourth Horseman" showed that Daniel and Cameron are able to really keep up the rapid-fire repetoire as well as Jack and Daniel ever were. I think Mitchell is going to be a good successor to Jack, and I admit it did take me until now to come to that conclusion. Mitchell is NOT a second O'Neill, and I love how they make that obvious from the get-go. Mitchell is a little smarter, a little less witty and care-free, and not quite as self-assured in command as Jack, for obvious reasons. I think everything will continue to come together and Season 10 will be as good as ever.Â
I like Mitchell better than Jonas. shockwave04
What?.................Pfff. are you-?:?.....................Hurrmfff!..................NOT FUNNY!!
well everyone basically!!! mjk1
Don't assume what everyone wants. Some consider it rude. ;PÂ Personally, I wish it would end after this season. I think it's run it's course. The great Stargate SG-1 we've all come to know and love has already ended. What's on now is ok, but it's just not made of what made the show great.
And BTW, it's funny that the others here saying it's getting dull are saying it's becoming like Star Trek. I too feel the show's getting dull, but I always loved Star Trek.
I think with amanda tapping having her baby the early episodes didn't feel right without her and i also think the team chemistry is missing
O'neill and carter, O'neill and Teal'c (brothers of war), O'neill verses Daneil and Carter (Shoot them Vs Talk to them) I just don't think mitchell has created those sort of bonds yet

I think you speak for everyone
Not me he doesn't. And as for the daniel and mitchell making witty remarks at rapid speed, isn't that evidence FOR the argument that mitchell is like oniell rather than evidence AGAINST it?

No not really. Daniel and Jack had more of a mildly antagonistic back-and-forth style (No I didn't. Yes you did. Didn't. Did. DIDN'T. Did!). With Daniel and Mitchell it's more tag-team (again, see The Fourth Horseman, Part II), they razz each other less and direct their collective wit at whomever they designate as victim. I think that's why Claudia Black is going to be a full-time cast member, because right now Daniel has no one to antagonize him like Jack did, and I think that's where you saw some of Shanks' best acting. Also, I think we're about to see less of Teal'c than before, and that's the other reason for adding Vala to the team. All told, I want to see this season play out before I make any judgements, other than to say it looks very promising.
BTW, what the heck did those of you who said it was becoming too "Star Trek" actually mean by that?

No i meant in general i wasnt talking about the characters
I guess we so expected them to try and replace Jack with another one that we dont pay that much attention to it but you are right that he isnt really another Jack. He has some of the same characteristics but is still different in many ways.Kurushio
Yeah, call me obsessive but I paid very close attention to Mitchell's character development. I would have been very disappointed had he turned out to be just another O'Neill, and if that had been the case I probably wouldn't have watched it as much. You just can't replace a character like O'Neill, and the writers did an excellent job in making sure they didn't write Mitchell as a carbon-copy of him. He is very much a fighter pilot first, and his demeanor reflects that perfectly. The new season has a lot of promise. :)
