Adolescents' album O.C. Confidential.

1.5/5

I'm sure the album deserves a higher score than that, but I can't listen all the way through it. It's pretty much the entire original band, but I can't stand listening to such mediocrity from the same guys that released the Blue Album. It's just too painful, the blue album is one of the greatest albums ever recorded in punk rock history, period. That same band releasing this album, it's just sad

They're releasing a new album this year, I'm not getting hyped over it at all. If it brings back their old sound, then it will be the best album of this year, if not, I'm not gonna be too dissapointed.

I started listening to the after Aarny on kept posting a few of the songs in the beaver and walrus WAYLT thread and say them high up on his last.fm, was rather delighted when listening

Further by The Chemical Brothers

9.5/10

An absolutely wonderful album to listen from start to finish. I personally find that, while rather enjoyable, the track Horse Power doesn't quite stand up to the others, however the rest of the album more than makes up for it. All in all, an enchanting and magical piece of music.

Tex Taiwan - Damaged Hearts

Photobucket

An interesting album from another indie boy/girl duo with a liking for 8-bit/chiptune sounds. Very much along similar lines to similar group and label mates You Love Her Coz She's Dead, but different enough to distinguish the two (namely that YLHCSD is somewhat a fusion of 8-bit and electro, where Tex Taiwan generally focuses on an 8-bit sound). I can find it hard to be in the right mood for this album, but when I am, I find I highly enjoy it.

Gorgoroth

Pentagram by Gorgoroth

9/10 It's a great Album, everything about it represents true Black Metal, it's full of awesome riffs, and it's one of the few albums of Gorgoroth that Hat was part of. My only problem is that the vocals are sometimes hard to hear over the instruments, other then that, it's an awesome album.

Their first album (self-titled) is amazing. Every single one of their songs is like a symphony (ok, so that's me) and gives one powerful message. From the rebirthing lyrics of "Capricorn (A Brand New Name)" to the interesting story from "Buddha for Mary". Anyone who likes rock or progressive metal should listen to it. My favorite song was "Edge of the Earth".

Collide by Skillet
This album, released in 2004, is their heaviest to date. Reminiscent of Nine Inch Nails, Collide provides powerful messages of faith and fear colliding. The lyrics are amazing, and though there are only two "soft" songs, the rhythm provide is powerful to blow your ears. Savior, Under my Skin,Imperfection.
I give it a 9/10.

Fell in love with this album again. The lyrics are so sassy and funny and the use of a live chorus works great.

Trollskau, Skromt og Kolabrenning by Myrkgrav

I give this album a ten out of ten. The potent and honest blending of oldschool Norwegian Folk and blistering Black Metal make for a unique and intelligent listening experience.

We're New Here by Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie xx

8/10

Gil Scott-Heron, a spoken word artist perhasp best known for his piece 'The Revolution Will Not Be Televised', last year released the album I'm New Here, his first in 13 years or so. This year, Jamie xx, member of the acclaimed The xx turned his production skills to the album, reworking it into We're New Here. This reworked album is a great piece of work, employing his trademark chill and drifting yet strangely moving beats and sounds, giving an entirely new face to Gil Scott-Heron's work. Great if you like The xx, Jamie xx's remixes or just fancy something different.

Madonna-MDNA

I give it a 4/5.

Interesting production and well crafted hooks and melodies, but it seems like a little bit of a mash-up of all her previous musical styles, so it doesn't seem as fresh as some of her other albums did.

I'd give it about... 8/10

It's a lovely folky album from a man known more for fronting indie rock acts, so this album full of quieter, gentle, dreamy folk style songs is a lovely change and works brilliantly.

The Flaming Lips - The Flaming Lips and Heady Fwends

8/10

In many ways, the album is standard Lips material in the sense that it's weird, trippy and strangely enjoyable, though Head Fwends is a bit more of a unique album with every track featuring a collaboration, seeing the Lips flick about in their exact sound quite a bit across the length of this album. Quite a neat album to listen to from start to finish if you fancy something strange and different.

This album hits the sweet spot between catchy and chaotic, and I love it everytime I play it through. It's a shame it didn't sell well. So what if it's not "the old Norma Jean". This album was awesome. :x

Some will probably say it's blasphemy that I actually listened to The Flaming Lips/Stardeath and White Dwarfs' cover of this album first. However, after rather enjoying the covered album, I decided to check out the original... it did not disappoint... not in the slightest.

Great music came out of Chess Records. If you love Rock 'n Roll, you will truly appreciate the origins of that genre. Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf, Little Walter, and Etta James.will make you feel exactly what they were feeling. The Blues is most definitely made in America.
