what are you're thoughts on these albums?

I've been listening to The Beatles most of the time, so I haven't had the chance to listen to them properly. Orchid reminds me of Morningrise, and So Far, So Good... So What! sounds flawed when compared to Peace Sells and Rust in Peace.

Sweet, I need to check out Rust in Peace, I really haven't listened to much of Opeth, either.

Megadeth is one of the very few bands of whom I have two "five star" favourites. My favourite is Rust in Peace, but Peace Sells is a close second. For Opeth, my favourites are Morningrise and Ghost Reveries. Ghost Reveries is a more accessible album than Morningrise.

I'll have to check them out, then. My favorite Opeth album is Blackwater Park.

I haven't seen it yet. I have heard things about the movie, similar to what you just stated. The Angel or Demon thing with wings is what made me want to watch the movie.
How are you enjoying the AIC cds? Big, big fan here.
Glad to hear you're liking them. i own most of their music. I'm only missing one album and it's the essentials one.
I never considered them grunge though. They just were lumped in there because they came out around that era. for me they are either hard rock or heavy metal.
-Capotetelvisnostic
I like that movie, but I prefer Infamous; have you watched that one? It's kind of like a remake, but has more drama and humour.
And I have bought:
"Blonde on Blonde" by Bob Dylan
"Danzig III: How the Gods Kill" by Danzig
"Green River" by Creedence Clearwater Revival

yes, their influences were heavy metal and they share many similarities, but Nirvana was influenced by punk and they share a lot in common with punk, but both bands have the "grunge" sound to me. Honestly, I think Nirvana sounds more like Alice in Chains than Nirvana sounds like Soundgarden.Cody13_2012What's interesting is that they both formed at the same time, 1987. I just always felt that AIC was more rooted metal. Nirvana to me doesn't sound much like AIC.

I agree
Nirvana to me doesn't sound much like AIC.telvisnostic
I agree, but would you not agree that Nirvana sounds closer to AIC than Soundgarden? Where I'm sure you would agree both Soundgarden and Nirvana are grunge.
I bought Covenant and Scream Bloody Gore at the same time. Zombie Ritual is the only SBG song I really like.kingkilla3
I like the whole album, I've listened through it several times. I don't own in and it was $10 on amazon so I thought I would buy it as it's an album I like a lot.

Where I'm sure you would agree both Soundgarden and Nirvana are grunge.I'd say neither. Soundgarden didn't sound like AIC much until very later on in Soundgarden's career when they decided to change their style for some reason. And to think that Soundgarden formed 3 years earlier too.
I recall my old friend who was a disc jockey for many years talking to me about things like this.
I have bought some more:
"Hello Nasty" by Beastie Boys
"Highway 61 Revisited" by Bob Dylan
"Smile" by Brian Wilson
"Poses" by Rufus Wainwright
"Bridge Over Troubled Water" by Simon and Garfunkel
[QUOTE="Cody13_2012"]I thought you liked Static-X. :?I'm not too big on Industrial Metal
ArmoredCore55
That was about the only one, but they're more Nu-Metally, and I don't care for that type of music as I once did. My music tastes have changed a lot lately.

I've read on wikipedia that they're more industrial metal, and I see they're mostly tagged as industrial metal on last.fm. Although, they do sound more industrial metal to me, their first 3 albums might have a mix of industrial and nu metal. That was about the only one, but they're more Nu-Metally, and I don't care for that type of music as I once did. My music tastes have changed a lot lately.Cody13_2012Really? How are they nu-metal. He doesn't rap if at all.

They don't have to rap to be concidered Nu-Metal, really. Coal Chamber doesn't rap and they're considered Nu-Metal. Slipknot's earlier work didn't resemble rap, anth they're considered Nu-Metal.

It annoys me that everything has to be labeled and sub-genred.
I will say that it's all up to the listener to say what is what. I don't use the term hip hop, I say Rap music. Everyone is different.

Slipknot's Spit It Out single had some rap-metalish, though.[QUOTE="telvisnostic"]Thanks. I dig Industrial metal.MasterC5ST1TCH from Mushroomhead is heavily involved in this bands. It's one of the reasons I like this album so much. Oooh, I like him. Thanks for that info.
CD Connection which is the best independent music store in my area, and has been for about the past 10 years, is closing on December 26th so I decided to head out there today and rummage through what was left.
Paten Locke- Super Ramen Rocketship (CD): Probably the corniest album title of all time lol, but Paten can spit and he's a dope producer as well. Him and Willie Evans Jr. (who are both a part of Asamov/AB's/Alias Brothers) are the two best rappers from my city so I had to go and support him by copping his recent album. He raps, produces, and does all the scratches on this album.
"Off the Grind"
"Brava"
"Just Me"
Pete Rock & CL Smooth- All Souled Out EP (vinyl): Almost didn't see this when I was looking through the records but when I saw it I just had to pick it up. CIassic Pete Rock production on this EP.
"Mecca and the Soul Brotha"
"The Creator"
"Go With the Flow"
