Aagh. I have just spent a considerable amount of time writing my stage by stage guide to the Endurance Run, I then clicked UPDATE VIDEO INFO and got a message saying "please check yor video description" As I do not know what exactly I am checking for this is proving difficult.
If no one has any objections then I might just paste it here, though that may take a while because of stupid cencorship/html issues.
Endurance Run HEHBHTB run.
Truth is when I first decided to do a Hercules Barbarian Hammer run and thought about what spells I should limit myself to I chose TB and EH for one reason, the massive crowd control potential of Gorgon Rage coupled with Typhon's Bane. This tasty combo of MAX spells will annihilate any crowd situation. It is raw power. Costly but effective it excels against groups of strong statues (GMG) and works so well against the Hades Minotaur and Satyr Wave that it would be a shame not to use it. So I used it
Lets break this down a wave at a time, indulge me if you will. I shall go into the whys and wherefores of what I did, mentioning anything that I find note worthy along the way
Wave 1, "Grunts + Juggernauts"
Gorgon Rage coupled with some intensive Hammer lovin' will turn the first two juggernauts to dust in no time at all. You could try to use Hercules (suspected) 75 damage collisions to take the big guys down as can be seen from the few hits it took to destroy the third. Two triangle hits or one direct hit from MOTK are required to shatter each Statuesque Juggernaut. As I have shown previously MOTK is a nice follow up to the two triangle attack, the blow from MOTK is very nearly as fast as the attack of a bow cancelled triangle attack with the added benefit that it does MOAR damage and has a very pretty multi coloured shockwave effect, with excellent range.
It only takes two Hammer hits to kill each "grunt" but when with a bit of EH whoring you can shatter three with one hit (strangely only getting two hits for it though)
Wave 2
I first saw this tactic in Mistry's speedrun and thought I would give it a go. As I mention in the titles Argo's Revenge, for collisions can be used here if you wish to save magic,as can grabbing the "grey grunts" (can't be bothered to look the official name up) and square hurling them for collisions, its up to you really.
Wave 3
Quite possibly my favourite wave. I love shattering statues and when you do not have to use magic to create the statues then you are on the road to WIN. When you see the sirens chargin their energy well attack interrupt it. I find a Hammer blow works nicely if they are in range or a Bow Shot if they are not. If you intend to shatter a Gorgon you need to hit it hard and fast.Triangle Triangle with no delay or a swift MOTK (direct hit) should do it.
Bit of false grab to promote Gorgon Blast(?) floaty orb attack.
Wave 4
Nothing to tell really, the synchronised knockbacks are amusing but this is a wave of little consequence.
Wave 5
This wave can be PAIN. Partly because if you ever FAIL it you have to redo from the start. This is time for Gorgon Rage to Titan Storm. Behold for it is gooood! Sometimes it can miss a Satyr, more so if you use it from the other side of a magical barrier,I think. Note the way I use RotT to get right into the centre of the group whilst charin mah GR. Though upon rewatching I could have done it without, I would rather not take the risk though, to be honest. Charged Wind Blast to knock back a group, scored 48 hits with it too despite not being that close to the targets when I fired it, I guess (and speaking from a little ecperience) the number of hits also depend on how far apart the targets are, related to the "swirly" nature of the projectile. I used CWB in the hope of knocking the Satyrs back further than the HM, to put me one on one with the HM once the magic barrier came up. It worked. Only just. One on one HM handling? Thanks to GMG, always keen to share the wealth, kudos to you sir. Lethal Vortex does a very nice job of launching the Satyrs.
Wave 6
Meh
Wave 7
Take it easy, you are nearly there, to die now would be annoying. "that which does kill me only severs to piss me off" a famous quote from addaminsain, sometime earlier this week @TUGOWU. Those big ol' Cyclopii petrify and shatter real easy. You can hit them both with one GF but I played it safe, I am not 100% familiar with their attacks so I would rather play safe. I do not to want to waste a GF and have one of the onw eyed warriors break free so I activated RotT for some uninterrupted Hammer Smashee Smashee time. What I did upon petrifying the third Cyclops could be considered a lesson in prioritisation, running around/ignoring lesser foes in order to remove the main threat first. Anyone can hold block against a group of grunts and fleece when the chance arrises, having a Cyclops there with its guard breaking unblockable complicates matters, so take steps to simplify them.
What else? Use the barriers to your advantage to split your foes into manageable groups. You don't necessarily want to be on one side and have ALL your opponents on the other, such spamming of penetrative attacks is effective but is also slow, I would rather separate a couple of opponents from the "herd" take them out and LRR.
The Endurance Run is not easy, I never just romp straight through it, retries are required to familiarise yourself with and strategise for each wave. If you can put it all together first time every time then you are a better player than I.
addaminsain. thanks if you made it to the end.
NEEDLESS EDIT. It went through first time, amazingly I did not use a single banned word.
