This is the official thread where you can talk about anything Mario related. It can be the games, the characters, anything. I want to start by saying how undescribably amazing the Super Mario All Stars 25th Anniversary Wii game looks! Does anyone plan on getting it? I sure as heck do!

IGN suggests it's price to be around $29.99, which is very affordable. However, I can't say for sure that I will be able to get even that much money before it becomes unavailable.

Presumably it's because Peach's Castle needs plumbing repairs quite frequently (Perhaps this is because of Bowser's attacks on it.)

If I remember correctly, in Mario's first appearance in the game Donkey Kong, he was depicted as a carpenter (which makes sense because with Donkey Kong chucking so many barrels at you, someone would have to rebuild them). The TV show story (yes there was a tv show) in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!, it is shown that Mario and Luigi ended up in the Mushroom Kingdom by getting sucked down a Warp Pipe connected to the drain of a bathtub that they were unclogging on a plumbing job in Brooklyn where the grew up. Though why the Mushroom Kingdom actually needs a pair of plumbers, is beyond me.

I belive there was a game called Super Mario Bros. (not to be confused with the NES title of the same name) in which Mario and Luigi removed fire flyters and other enemies from the plumbing somewhere, that could be why they were needed there.

Actually lots of the Italian-Americans in the USA live in Brooklyn and Brooklyn has always had long-standing Italian communities.

He's right, Mario Bros. was a minigame in Super Mario Advance Series for gba (the 2nd fourth and third only, the 1st one didn't have a minigame)

Yes, Mario Bros. is playable on some games as well (Such as Yoshi's Island GBA and Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga.) It was originally an Arcade game I believe, and it preceded the NES game Super Mario Bros.

It is interesting to note that Mario's first appearance was actually in Donkey Kong and he was originally named Jumpman (clever huh) and his name was switched to Mario later in the Mario Bros. series. During his development he was named Mr. Video.
