Lots and Lots of updates on LTS & FEAR , thanks to Ed O Mac
September 14th -
Injury Report:
BLKOUT’s Ruckus was knocked silly twice - by one of Derek Frazier’s lightning-fast kicks and also by being put through a table at ringside by Frazier’s frogsplash to the arena floor. He was able to finish the bout, a ladder match tribute to the late Chris Cash, and will not miss any time.
Pandora suffered a dislocated shoulder during “CZW eXpect the uneXpected” and was in a sling as the night ended. Her status, as well as the status of Pandora’s Box for “CZW Last Team Standing” is unknown at this time, but will be updated well before the show date.
“The Savior of CZW” Chris Hero was injured during his CZW World Heavyweight Title loss to Eddie Kingston at “CZW Down With the Sickness 4-Ever”, which not only led to his downfall in that match, but also kept him from competing at “CZW eXpect the uneXpected” in what was going to be a three-way return bout with Kingston, also involving Justice Pain. Hero was said to have trouble walking out after the bout, but seemed to be feeling better towards the end of the night. He is not scheduled to miss any action, and will be ready for Tag Team Title action for CHIKARA and Combat Zone Wrestling on September 22nd and October 14th, respectively.
Speaking of Hero, he claims the issue with new CZW World Heavyweight Champion Eddie Kingston is most definately NOT over and that he WILL eventually get his rematch for the title. With both men already slated to compete in the "Last Team Standing Tournament", will we see these two go at it...possibly with even more gold on the line?
Team AnDrew’s Drew Gulak will be appearing on this week’s “Total Nonstop Radio” broadcast at www.totalnonstopradio.com to discuss his start in the business as well as what it’s like to be a young CZW wrestler. You can catch this show every Thursday Night at 9 p.m. EST.
Combat Zone Wrestling is proud to announce that CZW Iron Man Champion LuFisto has been signed for the HUGE "CZW Last Team Standing" event on October 14th. We’ll have much more detailed information on her involvement with the show in future updates. Ironman, Ironwoman…call her by whatever championship moniker you will, but LuFisto has been one of the most popular CZW Ironman Champions in recent memory. She looked fantastic with her ability to dish out & take punishment both in the “Chris Cash Memorial Battle Royal” that she won, as well as her successful defense of the title against former champion B-Boy at “eXpect the uneXpected”. One person she did not make friends with, however, is “The Future of Hardcore” Nick Gage, who is disgusted by her possession of the title. We’ll be contacting Nick Gage soon to get his comments on LuFisto’s return to CZW for October.
And speaking of Nick Gage...
There's been a lot of rumors between the CZW Staff about two seperate incidents involving Nick Gage over the past 5 days. Apparently, John Zandig, looking out for the best interests of his company, really had it out with the "Future of Hardcore" in the backstage area about his treatment of LuFisto, as Gage interrupted her celebration Saturday to deliver an absolutely sick "Chokebreaker". Zandig, upon being contacted, claims that everything is fine as far is he is concerned, and "Nicky is just being Nicky". However, apparently there was another incident this week, this time between Justice Pain and Nick Gage at the New Alhambra Arena. Gage & Pain attended a training session at the CZW/CHIKARA Wrestle Factory, in which Pain, who has been receiving tremendous fan support and actually listening to the fans in return, began coaching the wrestling students in how to use the crowd support to turn the momentum of a match. Gage, outraged by this, slapped one of the students and told him to **** the fans!". Pain then got in between both, and words were exchanged between The H8 Club members.
Pain & Gage will be competing together at "Last Team Standing", but one has to question exactly where Gage's head is at lately. From embracing the fans at Tournament of Death, to publicly **** on them for the past two months...does even Nick Gage know what he's thinking anymore? And arguing with Pain & Zandig? His closest and ONLY friends? I think if Gage knows what's best for him, and he usually does, he'll cool down.
Finally, DJ Hyde has received Mana's challenge for a rematch at "CZW Fear" on October 15th, and has offered no response at this time. CZW Daily News has been told that a response WILL be given by the September 20th MBA event, after Maven T. Bentley, Esq. has properly examined the "pros and cons" for such a brutal rematch involving his client.
September 15th -
Congratulations go out to Jigsaw, who is having a breakout 2006, and became the new CZW World Jr. Heavyweight Champion on September 9th at CZW “eXpect the uneXpected”. Jigsaw has been appearing regularly with Combat Zone Wrestling and CHIKARA and is having a career year in both companies.
In CHIKARA, Jigsaw continues to do battle with his top foes, “The Kings of Wrestling”, and by the power of CHIKARA Comissioner Bob Saget was recently pitted against nemesis Icarus in a “Mask Vs. Hair” match. In that exciting main event bout, Jigsaw came out on top, keeping his mask and gaining even more momentum in a year that his seen him become a real main event star for the company.
His success has translated into even more confidence in Combat Zone Wrestling. Jigsaw, despite not always being on the winning end as of late, has been involved in some VERY important matchups – including a 3-way “Winner’s Choice” ladder match, a qualifying bout for Best of the Best 6, and a controversial 3-way showdown with Ring of Honor Tag Team Champion Austin Aries and Pandora Box’s B-Boy at the BotB event. Jigsaw looked great in the bout, even drilling Aries with his signature “Jig ‘N Tonic” finisher, but the selfish B-Boy, for whatever reason, decided to piss off the Philly fans who sensed an upset and knocked Jigsaw out of the tournament during the pinfall attempt.
Jigsaw’s next setback came when he was unable to make a #1 Contender’s bout for the CZW Jr. Heavyweight Title a few months back, due to scheduling issues between he & CZW. We all hoped this be not be the final setback to deter his rising star in the 'Zone. Then, just last month in Hellertown, PA, Jigsaw suffered an ankle injury that kept him out of action the following night in Barnesville, PA. The setbacks continued.
From the verge of a championship title shot to double-crossed, unbooked, and injured, Jigsaw’s chances of making a splash in CZW seemed to be fading away. But still, the CZW faithful demanded he be a part of the title scene, and CZW saw to it that he was given the #1 contender’s match that he deserved at “Down with the Sickness 4-Ever”. He’d have to get buy one of his oldest foes and toughest rivals – the evil minion known as Hallowicked. The match was fast-paced, with both men attempting to end things as soon as possible and rest up for a title shot on the evening show. Jigsaw finally scored the victory, and the fans realized he’d get his biggest match yet in just a few hours. But there was no time to celebrate, as new CZW World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Sonjay Dutt attacked Jigsaw from behind and mocked him.
“Halloween…is that who I’m facing? Halloween?” It was the ultimate sign of disrespect. Sonjay Dutt, the big-time TNA “superstar” was disgusted he’d have to even step in the ring with Jigsaw, who he saw as a joke. The CZW fans chanted “Jigsaw!” They also chanted “Halloween!” They’d chant any name as long as their favorite puzzle-piece clothed masked wrestler could somehow shut Dutt up once and for all.
The match took place as “CZW eXpect the uneXpected”, and following failed interference from Pandora’s Box member Messiah, Jigsaw was able to crush a cocky, brash, and arrogant Sonjay Dutt with the “Jig ‘N Tonic” and shock the world. The unexpected had happened and Jigsaw – the guy who kept his mask, the guy who hurt his ankle, the guy who got screwed by B-Boy, and most importantly, the guy the fans love, had just become the CZW World Jr. Heavyweight Champion.
CZW is proud to announce that CZW World Jr. Heavyweight Champion Jigsaw will be appearing at CZW “Last Team Standing” on October 14th. Due to the importance of the CZW World Tag Team Title Tournament, it remains to be seen whether or not he will be in action, as we want to deliver a memorable tournament first and foremost.
However, CZW News Update *can* confirm that there will a Jr. Heavyweight Division matchup taking place at “Last Team Standing”. It could very well be Jigsaw’s first title defense. Or…some new challengers may be competing to declare the next challenger for the title. There's a lot of rumors about wrestlers, both fan favorite and hated, who feel they have proven themselves in competition in recent months and deserve a crack at the gold. Jigsaw has definately become the hunted. We’ll have a full update on the announced bout as we get closer to the huge “Last Team Standing” event, right here on CZW Daily News Update.
Pandora's Box
Despite the best efforts of Pandora's Box to destroy Combat Zone Wrestling internally by recruiting some of its most beloved stars to their group, CZW Daily News Update wishes to remain professional and would like to send out congratulations to CZW star Messiah, who will be getting married in October.
Pandora's Box definately had a very rough September. Sonjay Dutt both won & lost the CZW World Jr. Heavyweight Title. There is friction in the group, as Adam Flash accidently cost Messiah a match against Luke...AND Messiah, looking to step up, was not able to save Sonjay's title reign in his defense against Jigsaw. Add to the fact that Pandora suffered a dislocated shoulder for her constant interference throughout the day.
The word is that Pandora's Box is taking the month off to regroup, celebrate Messiah's wedding, and come back stronger than ever in November. We'd wish them good luck in their regrouping but that would ultimately be wishing bad things to CZW. So we hope they come back at each other's throats more than ever.
Overall, there looks to be 10 matches in total at October 14th's CZW "Last Team Standing", with four first-round tournament matches, two semi-final bouts, matches involving CZW Ironman Champion LuFisto, The Necro Butcher, and the CZW Jr. Heavyweight Division, as well as the tournament final for the CZW World Tag Team Championships.
CHIKARA presents “Once in a Lifetime” in Reading, PA on September 22nd, a show that is absolutely stacked and will deliver a memorable experience for a great cause. Check out www.CHIKARAPro.com for more information on this event!
