Well, no. AMC contracts a certain amount of episodes and if the producers/writers found out midseason they were gonna run out of funds by the last episode and knowingly altered a script to reduce costs for a mid season episode, that's filler.
Fair enough. After the first three episodes I was very disappointed but I kid you not, they turn things around at episode 4. It all just begins to come together more naturally. It's not fantastic but it's still great and some of the jokes featured are the best in the series.
